Since AUVs are always in motion, the reliability of the system is not stationary, but it varies with time. This paper studies the time-varying reliability evaluation indexes for multi-AUV cooperative systems. Aimed at elucidating the characteristics of the system, by considering the motion of the AUVs, two time dependent reliability evaluation indexes, natural connectivity and all-terminal reliability of the basic reliability indexes, are determined with the graph theory. Then the time-varying reliability of multi-AUV cooperative systems is evaluated combining with an actual example. With the sensing and transmission as the main tasks of the WSN, its working mode is converted to a modular k-out-of-n system whose each modular is also a k-out-of-n structure. By using the theory of signature and its extending, the reliability of the WSN is computed. Finally, the reliability of WSN changing with the number of nodes, coverage requirements and node lifetimes is given by the numerical analysis. The failure data at the system level are often limited, resulting in high uncertainty to system reliability assessment. Integrating data drawn from various structural levels of the target system (e.g. the system, subsystems, assemblies and components), i.e. the multi-level data, through Bayesian analysis can improve the precision of system reliability assessment. However, if the multi-level data are overlapping, it is challenging for Bayesian integration to develop the likelihood function. Especially for multi-state systems (MSS), the Bayesian integration with overlapping data is even more difficult. The major disadvantage of previous approaches is the intensive computation for the development of the likelihood function caused by the workload to opt the appropriate combinations of the vectors of component states consistent with the overlapping data. An improved fully Bayesian integration approach from a geometric perspective is proposed for the reliability assessment of MSS with overlapping data. In this method, a specific combination of component states is regarded as a state vector, which leads to a specific system state of the MSS, and all state vectors generate a system state space. The overlapping data are regarded as the constraints which create hyperplanes in the system state space. And a point in a hyperplane corresponds to a particular combination of the state vectors. In the light of the features of the constraints, the proposed approach introduces space partition and hyperplane segmentation, which reduces the selection workload significantly and simplifies the likelihood function for overlapping data. The Bayesian networks (BNs) provide a robust probabilistic method of reasoning under uncertainty and have been successfully applied to a variety of real-world tasks. Aiming to explore the capabilities of the BN formalism in reliability analysis of monotone coherent multi-state systems, the BNs are compared with a popular tool for reliability analysis of monotone coherent multi-state systems, namely the multi-state fault trees (MFTs). It is shown that any MFT can be directly mapped into BN and the basic inference techniques on the latter may be used to obtain classical parameters computed from the former (i.e. probability distribution of top variable, minimal upper vectors and maximum lower vectors for any performance level, importance measures of components). Furthermore, some additional information can be obtained by using BN, both at the modeling and analysis level. At the modeling level, several restrictive assumptions implicit in the MFT methodology can be removed and various kinds of dependencies among components can be accommodated. At the analysis level, a general diagnostic analysis can be performed. The reliability of post grouting pile axial resistance was studied by proposing a design method for its probabilistic limit state,which is represented by the partial coefficients of load,end,and side resistance.The hyperbolic,modified hyperbolic,and polynomial models were employed to predict the ultimate bearing capacity of test piles that were not loaded to damage in field tests.The results were used for the calculation and calibration of the reliability index.The reliability of the probabilistic limit state design method was verified by an engineering case.The results show that the prediction results obtained from the modified hyperbolic model are closest to those obtained through the static load test.The proposed corresponding values of total,side,and end resistance partial coefficients are 1.84,1.66,and 2.73 when the dead and live load partial coefficients are taken as 1.1 and 1.4,respectively.Meanwhile,the corresponding partial coefficients of total,side,and end resistance are 1.70,1.56,and 2.34 when the dead and live load partial coefficients are taken as 1.2 and 1.4,respectively. 展开更多

In terms of the above two processes, a new Markov process is constructed to represent the evolution of the system. In order to reduce the disturbance on an authorizing user and lower the competition between cognitive users, assure the normal communication of a cognitive radio system, reliability theory is applied to describe if a channel can be used by a cognitive user or not and the probability that the channel is continually used for a period. Three aspects including space, time domain and frequency domain are united for the research on the distribution of frequency spectrum. The simulation result shows that, in the space domain, time domain, frequency domain algorithm, the transmitted data volume and the total throughput of the system are superior to those in greedy algorithm and time domain—frequency domain algorithm, the novel algorithm is helpful to reduce the disturbance caused by a cognitive user to an authorizing user and lower the competition between cognitive users, this simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm is effective. 展开更多

They can be found iteratively by one-dimension integral on a finite interval. The new algorithm is very convenient and with high accuracy. It can meet the practical engineering need excellently. However, the primitive algorithm is rather cumbersome. By the way, the very close approximate limits with a simple algorithm are derived. They can be applied immediately to engineering. In this study,through experimental research and an investigation on large datasets of the durability parameters in ocean engineering,the values,ranges,and types of distribution of the durability parameters employed for the durability design in ocean engineering in northern China were confirmed.Based on a modified theoretical model of chloride diffusion and the reliability theory,the service lives of concrete structures exposed to the splash,tidal,and underwater zones were calculated.Mixed concrete proportions meeting the requirement of a service life of 100 or 120 years were designed,and a cover thickness requirement was proposed.In addition,the effects of the different time-varying relationships of the boundary condition(Cs)and diffusion coefficient(Df)on the service life were compared;the results showed that the time-varying relationships used in this study(i.e.,Cscontinuously increased and then remained stable,and Dfcontinuously decreased and then remained stable)were beneficial for the durability design of concrete structures in marine environment. 展开更多

The reliability theory has been an important element of the classical geodetic adjustment theory and methods in the linear Gauss-Markov model. Although errors-in-variables(EIV) models have been intensively investigated, little has been done about reliability theory for EIV models. This paper first investigates the effect of a random coefficient matrix A on the conventional geodetic reliability measures as if the coefficient matrix were deterministic. The effects of such geodetic internal and external reliability measures due to the randomness of the coefficient matrix are worked out, which are shown to depend not only on the noise level of the random elements of A but also on the values of parameters. An alternative, linear approximate reliability theory is accordingly developed for use in EIV models. Both the EIV-affected reliability measures and the corresponding linear approximate measures fully account for the random errors of both the coefficient matrix and the observations, though formulated in a slightly different way. Numerical experiments have been carried to demonstrate the effects of errors-in-variables on reliability measures and compared with the conventional Baarda's reliability measures. The simulations have confirmed our theoretical results that the EIV-reliability measures depend on both the noise level of A and the parameter values. The larger the noise level of A, the larger the EIV-affected internal and external reliability measures;the larger the parameters,the larger the EIV-affected internal and external reliability measures. 展开更多

In reliability theory and survival analysis, the problem of point estimation based on the censored sample has been discussed in many literatures. However, most of them are focused on MLE, BLUE etc; little work has been done on the moment-method estimation in censoring case. To make the method of moment estimation systematic and unifiable, in this paper, the moment-method estimators(abbr. MEs) and modified momentmethod estimators(abbr. MMEs) of the parameters based on type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ censored samples are put forward involving mean residual lifetime. The strong consistency and other properties are proved. To be worth mentioning, in the exponential distribution,the proposed moment-method estimators are exactly MLEs. By a simulation study, in the view point of bias and mean square of error, we show that the MEs and MMEs are better than MLEs and the “pseudo complete sample” technique introduced in Whitten et al.(1988). And the superiority of the MEs is especially conspicuous, when the sample is heavily censored. 展开更多
