Since the study is directed towards description of the magnetic filter region ...The spatial structure of remote plasma regions in rf discharges is analyzed based on a 2D model of free-fall regime discharge maintenance. Since the study is directed towards description of the magnetic filter region in the tandem plasma sources of negative hydrogen ions, hydrogen discharges are considered, with a weak magnetic field located outside the region of the rf power deposition. With the formation of different regions in the discharge—the rf power deposition region, the region with electron magnetization, the transition between them and the region behind the filter—the results display superimposed effects of nonlocal discharge maintenance without and with a magnetic field. Slight decrease of the electron temperature accompanied with strong drop of the electron density is the “pure” effect of the plasma expansion in regions without external magnetic field. Strong drop of the electron temperature accompanied with formation of a maximum of the electron density in the filter region is the “pure” effect of the plasma expansion through a magnetic field. Based on the results for the spatial distribution of the electron density and temperature obtained with shifting the position of the magnetic filter, optimization of the source regarding high yield of volume-produced negative ions is discussed.展开更多
Implementation of the water-sediment regulation(WSR) scheme, mainly focused on solving the sedimentation problems of reservoirs and the lower reaches of the Yellow River, has inevitably influenced the sediment distrib...Implementation of the water-sediment regulation(WSR) scheme, mainly focused on solving the sedimentation problems of reservoirs and the lower reaches of the Yellow River, has inevitably influenced the sediment distribution and coastal morphology of the Yellow River Estuary.Using coastline delineation and suspended sediment concentration(SSC) retrieval methods, this study investigated water and sediment changes,identified detailed inter-annual and intra-annual variations of the coastline and SSC in the normal period(NP: 1986-2001, before and after the flood season) and WSR period(WSRP: 2002-2013, before and after WSR). The results indicate that(1) the sedimentation in the low reaches of the Yellow River turned into erosion from 2002 onward;(2) the inter-annual coastline changes could be divided into an accretion stage(1986-1996), a slow erosion stage(1996-2002), and a slow accretion stage(2002-2013);(3) an intra-annual coastline extension occurred in the river mouth in most years of the WSRP; and(4) the mean intra-annual accretion area was 0.789 km^2 in the NP and 4.73 km2 in the WSRP,and the mean SSC increased from 238 mg/L to 293 mg/L in the NP and from 192 mg/L to 264 mg/L in the WSRP.展开更多
In the past decades, two large scale coastal engineering projects have been carried out in the Deep Bay surrounded by Shenzhen City and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. One project is Shenzhen River channel re...In the past decades, two large scale coastal engineering projects have been carried out in the Deep Bay surrounded by Shenzhen City and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. One project is Shenzhen River channel regulation and the other is the sea reclamation along the seashore on the Shenzhen side. The two projects are very close to the two national nature reserves, specifically Futian in Shenzhen and Mai Po in Hong Kong, which are important wetland ecosystems worldwide. This paper aims to identify and monitor the mangrove wetland changes with time series of Landsat Thematic Mapper images pre and post to the two engineering projects being launched. Coupled analysis of the image interpretation results and tidal data acquired at the same time in the context of the two works reveals that the mangrove wetland area has increased from year 1989 to 1994, and has changed little from year 1994 to 2002. Binary coding is applied to reveal the distribution image of mangrove at each phase, and the coding image shows that the construction of the two coastal engineering projects has caused frequent changes in mangrove spatial distribution. The study also shows that the change is not significant regarding to the precision of the method and the natural evolution of mangrove wetland, and the projects do not cause apparently influences upon the two national mangrove conservation zones at least for the research time period.展开更多

Next, a planning scheme was development for a maintenance network. ...The authors developed a prototype of a warship maintenance system. The process started by defining the maintenance requirements of warship equipment. Next, a planning scheme was development for a maintenance network. An optimization target for the plan and indexes for assessment were established. Based on the above work, a simulation model was proposed with two layers: a base and a workshop. Dispatching rules were then formulated for the simulation. Experimental results proved the validity of the model and the dispatching algorithm. It was found that the model can solve the capacity evaluation problem for maintenance systems and provides a scientific basis for decision-maker to make decisions regarding equipment maintenance.展开更多

The substation provides SVG and SCD documents to the dispatch center, which includes primary equipment information and the network topology. The dispatch center’s automation system completes the conversion between the two models. This paper researches on the smart remote technology, which uses IEC 61850 as communication protocol. It can filter and restructure communication data based on the needs of different dispatch center. Remot...This study is conducted to evaluate the ongoing geoenvironmental impacts of Brahmaputra-Jamuna (BJ) River around the Jamuna Bridge (JB) site which was modified prior to the construction of Jamuna Bridge in 1996. Remote sensing and GIS techniques are adopted to evaluate the temporal and spatial geohazards. This study shows that the intensity of channel shifting has been increased due to regulation of river width at Sira-jganj–Bhuiyapur section from 11 km to 4.8 km. Planform analysis shows that the major channel has been stressed to migrate (315 m/year) eastwards. The phenomena of channel changes are predicted to be the con-sequences of interaction of water flow, sedimentation and channel corridor. The erosion and deposition have complicated variations over time and space due to the abrupt changes of flow and sedimentation around the regulated section. Due to width reduction, the bridge site in the braided system acts as sluice gate which can not accommodate the entire flow to release downstream properly. The helical flow developed with the inter-action of guide bund creates local scours and helps to shift the river bank eastward.展开更多
The establishment and maintenance of mammary epithelial cell identity depends on the activity of a group of proteins, collectively called maintenance proteins, that act as epigenetic regulators of gene transcription t...The establishment and maintenance of mammary epithelial cell identity depends on the activity of a group of proteins, collectively called maintenance proteins, that act as epigenetic regulators of gene transcription through DNA methylation, histone modification, and chromatin remodeling. Increasing evidence indicates that dysregulation of these crucial proteins may disrupt epithelial cell integrity and trigger breast tumor initiation. Therefore, we explored in silico the expression pattern of a panel of 369 genes known to be involved in the establishment and maintenance of epithelial cell identity and mammary gland remodeling in cell subpopulations isolated from normal human mammary tissue and selectively enriched in their content of bipotent progenitors, committed luminal progenitors, and differentiated myoepithelial or differentiated luminal cells. The results indicated that, compared to bipotent cells, differentiated myoepithelial and luminal subpopulations were both characterized by the differential expression of 4 genes involved in cell identity maintenance: CBX6 and PCGF2, encoding proteins belonging to the Polycomb group, and SMARCD3 and SMARCE1, encoding proteins belonging to the Trithorax group. In addition to these common genes, the myoepithelial phenotype was associated with the differential expression of HDAC1, which encodes histone deacetylase 1, whereas the luminal phenotype was associated with the differential expression of SMARCA4 and HAT1, which encode a Trithorax protein and histone acetylase 1, respectively. The luminal compartment was further characterized by the overexpression of ALDH1A3 and GATA3, and the down-regulation of NOTCH4 and CCNB1, with the latter suggesting a block in cell cycle progression at the G2 phase. In contrast, myoepithelial differentiation was associated with the overexpression of MYC and the down-regulation of CCNE1, with the latter suggesting a block in cell cycle progression at the G1 phase.展开更多

In this paper, a new arch...Globalization and rapid growth of network technologies have changed the traditional patterns of device maintenance. E-maintenance has emerged and is widely used in many manufacturing systems. In this paper, a new architecture of an E-maintenance system is proposed, which consists of E-maintenance centre, embedded CNC gateway and CNC terminal. The E-maintenance centre provides the technical support and service for customers based on Internet and communication technologies. The embedded CNC gateway serves as an agent between the public and plant device network, and provides web-based access for the CNC system. A reconfigurable CNC terminal is highly desired in a signal measuring and analysing system, which is built on the top of component and software bus based models. Finally, the E-maintenance system for the CNC machine is implemented and the experiments show that the architecture of an E-maintenance system can effectively reduce the downtime of devices, the responding time of maintenance work, and increase both the quality and the productivity of enterprises.展开更多
Sleep disturbances are common in patients with stroke,and sleep quality has a critical role in the onset and outcome of stroke.Poor sleep exacerbates neurological injury,impedes nerve regeneration,and elicits serious ...Sleep disturbances are common in patients with stroke,and sleep quality has a critical role in the onset and outcome of stroke.Poor sleep exacerbates neurological injury,impedes nerve regeneration,and elicits serious complications.Thus,exploring a therapy suitable for patients with stroke and sleep disturbances is imperative.As a multi-targeted nonpharmacological intervention,remote ischemic conditioning can reduce the ischemic size of the brain,improve the functional outcome of stroke,and increase sleep duration.Preclinical/clinical evidence showed that this method can inhibit the inflammatory response,mediate the signal transductions of adenosine,activate the efferents of the vagal nerve,and reset the circadian clocks,all of which are involved in sleep regulation.In particular,cytokines tumor necrosis factorα(TNFα)and adenosine are sleep factors,and electrical vagal nerve stimulation can improve insomnia.On the basis of the common mechanisms of remote ischemic conditioning and sleep regulation,a causal relationship was proposed between remote ischemic conditioning and post-stroke sleep quality.展开更多
