In this paper we illustrate the potential of the repertory grid technique as an instrument for case formulation and understanding of the personal perception and meanings of people with a diagnosis of psychotic disorde...In this paper we illustrate the potential of the repertory grid technique as an instrument for case formulation and understanding of the personal perception and meanings of people with a diagnosis of psychotic disorders.For this purpose,the case of James is presented:A young man diagnosed with schizophrenia and personality disorder,with severe persecutory delusions and other positive symptoms that have not responded to antipsychotic medication,as well with depressive symptomatology.His case was selected because of the way his symptoms are reflected in his personal perception of self and others,including his main persecutory figure,in the different measures that result from the analysis of his repertory grid.Some key clinical hypotheses and possible targets for therapy are discussed.展开更多

It is important to examine inexperienced teachers＇ beliefs related to the profession of teaching since they will continue pursuing these beliefs while carrying out their profession. These beliefs will affect their future teaching practices, professional judgments and ideas （Roberts, 2001; Borg, 2003）. This study aimed to investigate the personal theories of one pre-service teacher from an ELT （English Language Teaching） certificate program at a foundation university in Istanbul. Her beliefs about effective grammar teaching were represented by using repertory grid data. This qualitative case study report displayed the participant pre-service teachers＇ thinking through cycles of constructing and reconstructing her personal theories about grammar teaching. The findings of the study were discussed and some educational implications were suggested.展开更多
This essay articulates a new conceptual distinction-that between repertories and habits-and urges that the history of habits is the most critical unknown in the study of Chinese medical history.
