State Key Laboratory of Baiyun Obo Rare Earth Resource Researches and Comprehensive Utilization was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology to be one of the national key laboratories in November 2022.The laboratory was reconstructed based on former State Key Laboratory of Baiyun Obo Rare Earth Resources Researchesand Comprehensive Utilization.

In recent years,significant progress has been achieved in both basic and clinical research within the field of traditional medicine,garnering increasing attention worldwide.To further promote a high-quality and international development of traditional medicine,the editorial board of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine provided a collection of the“Top 50 High-impact Researches of Traditional Medicine”published in 2021 through objective indicators and a strict selection process.The findings of the selected articles have a significant academic influence and possess considerable academic value both nationally and internationally.The selected articles cover a wide range of topics,including clinical research,acupuncture,pharmacology,chemistry,biosynthesis,medicinal plant resources,and new formulation and drug delivery system research on traditional medicine.Therefore,this article outlines the selection process of the top 50 high-impact research articles,analyzes their research characteristics,and provides a brief summary of their new findings and perspectives in the field of traditional medicine.

Advances in Researches of Functional Rice

Functional rice has functions of adjusting human physiological functions of and preventing diseases. At present,there are researches both at home and abroad about the relationship between nutritional quality and physiological active substances of rice and human physiological activities. Through conventional breeding,gene mutation technology,and molecular-assisted selection( MAS) technology,it is feasible to select and breed new rice varieties and plants with certain health care functions.

Status Quo and Problems of Underground Space Researches

With the intensifying urbanization and the increasing demands for land resources, urban development is gradually expanding into the underground. Rational development and design of underground space can not only improve use efficiency of land, relieve land use pressure, but also facilitate people's living and improve urban environment. Analysis of the status quo and problems of underground space design researches in China, and the directions of future underground space research and development will contribute to the development and design of underground space. On the basis of reviewing research papers in the past decades, the contents of underground space researches were divided into 10 major categories, the current contents of underground space researches in China and existing problems were analyzed, and it was proposed that the future underground space design researches should be based on traditional research contents and methods, use advanced technologies such as information technology, show the interdisciplinary cooperation, pay attention to human feelings, protection and continuation of cultural context, and adhere to green and sustainable development with consistent innovation and progress.

DEVELOPMENT OF RESEARCHES ON THE TREATMENT OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA WITH ACUPUNCTURE AND MOXIBUSTION

Acu-moxibustion therapy is one of the commonly-used remedies for the prevention and treatmerit of asthma. In the present article, the authors review development of clinical studies on acu-moxibustion treatment of asthma in recent 5 years from ① changes of pulmonary function as forced expiratory volume in 1 second （FEV1）, forced vital capacity （FVC）, FEV1%, peak expiratory flow （PEF）, maximum mid expiratory flow （MMEF）, etc., ② changes of immune function as serum IgE, IgG, subgroups of T lymphocytes, inflammatory mediators, cytokines, etc, and ③ changes of the nervous system and related receptors including nitric oxide （NO）, vasoactive intestinal peptide （VIP）, substance P （SP）, and cAMP/cGMP. Additionally, the authors also introduce the development of experimental researches from the effects of acu-moxibustion on ① inflammatory cells, ② nervous system and receptors, ③ patho-morphological changes of the lung tissue, and ④serology of acupuncture.

The mechanisms of radiation induced bystander effects, functions of radiation related microRNAs and radiosensitivityof cancer and normal cells have been conducted by two- and three-dimensional cultured method during thepast year in Department of Space Radiobiology. An international symposium on DNA repair and space radiobiologywas successfully held in Institute of Modern Physics. There were more than 20 scientists from all over the world havetaken part in the symposium. Moreover, Gansu Key Laboratory of Space Radiobiology has been in the cultivatedperiod since July, 2014. Progress and Prospect of Functional Rice Researches

With the rapid development of economy and the increase of people＇s living standards, functional foods are being gradually embraced by consumers and have a great growth potential. Rice is the main staple food in China. It plays an important role in promoting people＇s health and in improving public nutrition, and therefore there is an ever-increasing consumer demand for rice for its functional quality. This study introduces the concept of functional rice and summarizes the current research progress on this topic and the application of breeding strategies including traditional breeding, induced mutagenesis, molecular marker-assisted selection and transgenic engineering in the research of a new generation of functional rice that posses health benefits, therapeutic values, bioreactor properties, and other unique functions. We then point out the prospect of functional rice from the point of view of social development, germplasm innovation, breeding of functional rice by biological technology and the test of active material related functional rice. We conclude that developing and marketing of functional rice is becoming a subject of great importance for research and is to be the focus of research in future.

Science Researches of Chinese Manned Space Flight

With the complete success of the 2nd stage of Chinese Manned Space Program(CMSP),several science researches have been performed on Tiangong-1 experimental spacelab, which was docked with three Shenzhou spaceships one after another. The China's real spacelab, Tiangong-2 will be launched in 2015, docked with a Shenzhou spaceship soon. After six months, it will be docked with the first Chinese cargo ship(Tianzhou-1). More space science researches, involving with space biology, fluid physics, fundamental physics, materials science, Earth science, astronomy and space environmental science, will be operated on Tiangong-2 spacelab, and crewed and cargo spaceships. Furthermore, the considerable large-scale space utilization of Shina's Space Station is planned. The research fields include yet not limited to space medicine and physiology, space life science and biotechnology, fluid physics and combustion in microgravity, space material science,and fundamental physics in microgravity, space astronomy, Earth science, space physics and space environment utilization, technology demonstration.

A Review on Researches of Active Tectonics—History,Progress and Suggestions

This paper reviews the history and progress of research on active tectonics in China and overseas.By giving a brief introduction on the history of active tectonic research in China and other countries,the paper sums up the process and development of quantitative investigation of active tectonics since the 1980s.The focus is on the main efforts and progress made in China on certain aspects of research,such as basic surveys and applied investigation of active tectonics,the study of theories related to regional active tectonics and their kinematics and geodynamics,surveys on coupling relations between deep and shallow structures,active fault surveys and prospecting and seismic hazard assessment in urban areas,as well as the efforts made using Quaternary geochronology.Furthermore,the paper looks back on Chinese quantitative investigation of active tectonics in China and sums up cognitions derived from studies on the determination of several basic and measurable parameters of active tectonics.These parameters include the length of fault and fault segmentation,coseismic slip and cumulative slip,fault slip rate,the sequence of paleoearthquake events and the time elapsed since the most recent event.At the same time,efforts and progress made in China on assessing the long-term seismic potential for active faults and evaluating the risk from potential active fault movement have been reviewed by summarizing research on developing theories,models,methods and the application of time-dependent seismic potential to probabilistic assessment,magnitude estimation for potential earthquakes on active faults,and the forecast of potential risk caused by active fault movement.Finally,in consideration of the realities and problems in the research of active tectonics in China,the authors put forward several suggestions for issues worthy of more attention for further investigation in the future.

Advances in Researches about Agricultural Modernization in China since the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

The researches about agricultural modernization have been carried out a long time. Since the 16 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China( CPC),there have been fundamental changes in China's agricultural policies. The works of three rural issues with the development of modern agriculture rapidly became the main topic. The practice promoted researches of agricultural modernization in the connotation,characteristics,path selection,and indicator system construction. With the introduction of simultaneous development of " four modernizations" and coordinated development of " five modernizations",the theoretical researches of China's agricultural modernization have been provided with new connotations. In the existing achievements of " four modernizations" and " five modernizations" containing agricultural modernization,the characteristics,paths,indicator system and evaluation methods of agricultural modernization are constantly enriched. Through sorting out the theoretical achievements in the researches about agricultural modernization since the 16 th CPC National Congress of the CPC,this paper explored the new characteristics,new paths and new indicator system of agricultural modernization,to provide reference for the further transformation and upgrading of China's agriculture and the formulation of relevant policies.
