This paper studied the residents' level of satisfaction in public housing units in Shenyang of China which aimed to identify how each housing unit feature correlates with the residents' overall satisfaction and implication on policy and design. The discussion is based on a questionnaire survey conducted in 2011. This research concluded that more residents were satisfied with the housing unit features than those who were dissatisfied, while some remarkable differences could be observed if comparative analysis between two different public housing types in China were studied. The affordable housing residents are generally more satisfied with housing unit features than those living in low-rent housing. The most dissatisfying feature is the living room, followed by unit size and the floor plan. Additionally, the living room and the floor plans were features which were highly and positively correlated to the residents' overall satisfaction of housing unit features. Consequently, improving the living room size and the design of housing unit floor plans would clearly be beneficial to alleviating residents' dissatisfaction to the housing units. 展开更多

It is also important to promote sus- tainable development of these regions. Analysing residents' satisfaction with public services in mountainous areas can help in evaluating outcomes of fiscal investment and identifying potential coping approaches for improving public service efficiencies. The residents' satisfaction with public services and the factors that influence such satisfaction were examined in this study. A study of 12 towns located in the southwestern Sichuan Province was performed using an entropy-weighted analytic hierarchy process (EWAHP), the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and Tobit regression methods. The results indicate that: 1) the spatial distribu- tion of satisfaction with public services is non-uniform, and the spatial distribution structure varies for different types of public services. 2) Residents' satisfaction with public services is influenced by both objective and subjective factors. Population density, economic dis- tance, social and cultural divisions and elevation are the major objective factors, whereas bounded rationality, the hierarchy of needs and service expectations are the main subjective factors. The most effective strategies for enhancing residents' satisfaction with public ser- vices are likely to be clustering the population, choosing supply centres with different public services, regulating the cultural division in ethnic minority towns, selecting supply priorities in accordance with residents' needs, implementing targeted intervention policies and establishing 'bottom-up' and 'top-down' integrated decision-making mechanisms. Keywords: mountainous areas; public services; residents' satisfaction; entropy-weighted analytic hierarchy process (EWAHP); technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS); Tobit regression; southwestern Sichuan Province 展开更多

The quality of healthcare services is becoming a major concern in all countries, through improving performance to maximize the population health, effectively and efficiently, by doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right way, for the right person and having the best possible results, through well-managed hospitals and clinics. The purpose of this paper is to identify and measure Ajman residents’ satisfaction on healthcare service, using data of a sample of 1035 households, randomly selected from a total of 95,531 households, who were permanently residing in the Emirate of Ajman and having prior experience in availing any healthcare service. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 and AMOS version 22. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis showed an acceptable model fit used to measure residents’ satisfaction. Findings showed that in the government sector only reliability and empathy correlated positively with healthcare service quality, which also had a strong, positive correlation with residents’ satisfaction, while tangible, assurance and responsiveness were not sufficiently correlated to healthcare service quality. On the other hand, for private sector, except for responsiveness and tangible dimensions, reliability, assurance, and empathy correlated positively with healthcare service quality, which also had a strong, positive correlation with residents’ satisfaction. This study used healthcare service quality dimensions, namely, tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, to determine the residents’ satisfaction within the public hospitals and to provide an empirical contribution to understanding the factors associated with public satisfaction and healthcare systems. According to the survey results, Ajman residents were satisfied 82% on Quality Dimension, 77% on Empathy Dimension, 80% on both Assurance and responsiveness Dimensions, 89% on Reliability Dimension and 88% on Tangible Dimension. Moreover, Statistical analysis revealed that, each of Tangible Dimension, Healthcare Service Quality Dimension and Empathy Dimension, is positively correlated with Healthcare Service Quality. Likewise, Healthcare Service Quality, is also positively correlated with residents’ satisfaction. But Reliability, Responsiveness, and Assurance Dimensions, are not positively correlated with Healthcare Service Quality. 展开更多

This paper studies the thermal performance of outdoor residential spaces in the old part—historical part—of Sana’a city in the winter period and its impact on the residents’ satisfaction who occupied the buildings which overlook these spaces and use them on a pedestrian comfort basis. The analysis was carried out through the results of field measurements which study the temperature, relative humidity, and the air movement inside the selected outdoor spaces in the period of winter (2 months) data recorded through the devices used and compared with those obtained from the General Authority of Meteorology and Aviation—Meteorology Sector. Despite the passage of years, the author remained occupied with the opinion of the people whose homes overlook those outdoors spaces and what is their opinion of their performance. Therefore, an assessment was conducted in November 2020 to know the opinion of the people about the performance of these outdoor spaces and to compare the results of the field measurements with the results of the assessment. The measurements were conducted by using data-loggers that spread in some outdoor spaces in 7 spaces in old city of Sana’a and in its modern extension during the winter period which is the time of concern of this work. The measurements showed that the outdoor residential spaces in the old city of Sana’a are represented an advantage for winter climate over that of the modern city, so the focus in this paper was on that outdoors with the question of the users of the outdoor spaces in the old city only to clarify their satisfaction with it and whether it has succeeded as well from their point of view. Results presented in this paper are important to consider the relationship between the climatical performance of outdoor spaces and the comfort of the residents in the urban environment and give implications for urban planners and architects to improve the climate-based design methodology towards sustainable developments. 展开更多

A physician’s empathetic attitude is regarded as an important influencing factor towards patient satisfaction. However, physicians’ self-assessed empathy declines during medical school and through residency, which may limit patient satisfaction in the doctor-patient contact. In conse-quence, we hypothesized that residents might fail in generating high levels of patient satisfaction. We conducted an observational study in the setting of a pre-anesthetic assessment center, Univer-sity Hospital Leipzig, Germany. Patient satisfaction was measured using the overall ZUF-8 score (8 - 32 points;increasing with patient satisfaction). Data were collected by questionnaires (ZUF-8 items, additional satisfaction items, and items of organizational and logistical processes). Key items for patient satisfaction as primary endpoints were defined. Statistical evaluation was performed in dependency of the anesthesiologists’ level of training (residents vs. consultants) by using the Mann-Whitney-U test or the chi square test, as required. Statistical significance was accepted for p < 0.05. In total, 2565 patients were assessed for eligibility. 986 patients met the criteria of inclusion. 978 questionnaires were submitted with 517 questionnaires being excluded because of missing values. Finally, 461 questionnaires could be analysed. Both residents and consultants achieved a high level of patient satisfaction. The ZUF-8-scores were comparable between the groups (p = 0.91), whilst the quality of consultation was rated slightly better by patients being assessed by residents (p = 0.047). The results in additional satisfaction items were comparable between the groups. We found a trend in residents assessing to be rated more friendly. Residents are able to generate a high level of patient satisfaction which is comparable to that of consultants with scores ranging between “good” and “very good”. Small albeit significant differences in favor of residents underline the quality of their performance in pre-anesthetic patient assessment. 展开更多

With the rise and development of major types of platforms, the competition for resources has become extremely fierce, and the market share of C2C platforms has been seriously threatened by the loss of resources. Therefore, building and maintaining buyers’satisfaction and loyalty to C2C platforms is critical to the survival and sustainability of C2C platforms in China. However, the current knowledge on how platform satisfaction and loyalty are constructed in the C2C e-commerce environment is incomplete. In this study,seller-based satisfaction and platform-based satisfaction are constructed separately. We further distinguish seller-based transaction satisfaction into economic and social satisfaction and explore their antecedents and consequences. To test our research hypotheses,we conduct a survey and collect data from a real online market(Taobao website). The results show that seller-based transaction satisfaction positively affects platform-based overall satisfaction and loyalty, and that perceived product quality, perceived assurance, and perceived price fairness all have a significant effect on economic satisfaction, whereas perceived relationship quality and perceived empathy significantly influence social satisfaction. These findings help us understand the literature related to customer satisfaction in the context of C2C in China and provide inspiration for online sellers and platforms. 展开更多

Objective To determine the impact of scenario-based lecture and personalized video feedback on anesthesia residents'communication skills during preoperative visits. Methods A total of 24 anesthesia residents were randomly divided into a video group and a control group.Residents in both groups took part in a simulated interview and received a scenario-based lecture on how to communicate with patients during preoperative visits.Afterwards, residents in the video group received personalized video feedback recorded during the simulated interview. One week later all the residents undertook another simulated interview. The communication skills of all the residents were assessed using the Consultation and Relational Empathy measure(CARE)scale by two examiners and one standardized patient(SP),both of whom were blinded to the group allocation. Results CARE scores were comparable between the two groups before training, and significantly improved after training in both groups(all P<0.05).The video group showed significantly greater increase in CARE score after the training than the control group, especially assessed by the SP(t=6.980,P<0.001).There were significant correlations between the examiner-assessed scores and SP-assessed scores(both P=0.001).Conclusion Scenario-based lectures with simulated interviews provide a good method for training communication skills of anesthesia residents, and personalized video feedback can enhance their performance on showing empathy during preoperative interview. 展开更多

Developing countries are still lagging behind in implementing these principles. This work aims to evaluate the satisfaction of patients operated on and hospitalized in the surgery department at the municipality’s reference health center over a period of 6 months (June 2020 to December 2020). Materials and Methods: This is a quantitative, qualitative, transversal and evaluative study over a period of 6 months based on a self-administered questionnaire to patients who underwent surgery and were hospitalized in the surgery department of the reference health center of commune I upon leaving their hospitalization. The questions are structured around welcome, respect and privacy, care, accommodation conditions as well as overall satisfaction. Results: The survey included 260 patients, 60.8% of whom were male. The 31 - 40 year old age group was in the majority and the majority had completed primary education (42.3%). Married patients were the majority, i.e. 60.4% of cases. Patients were not insured in 66.5% of cases. Almost all of the patients surveyed found that the welcome, care, waiting time, respect and privacy were satisfactory. On the other hand, patients found the rooms and beds uncomfortable. Conclusion: The satisfaction survey reveals worrying data regarding the comfort of patients who must challenge caregivers in healthcare structures. Decision-makers should find useful information there to improve the quality of care. 展开更多
