Laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)has been employed to additively manufacture WE43 magnesium(Mg)alloy biodegradable implants,but WE43 L-PBF samples exhibit excessively rapid corrosion.In this work,dense WE43 L-PBF samples were built with the relativity density reaching 99.9%.High temperature oxidation was performed on the L-PBF samples in circulating air via various heating temperatures and holding durations.The oxidation and diffusion at the elevated temperature generated a gradient structure composed of an oxide layer at the surface,a transition layer in the middle and the matrix.The oxide layer consisted of rare earth(RE)oxides,and became dense and thick with increasing the holding duration.The matrix was composed ofα-Mg,RE oxides and Mg_(24)RE_(5) precipitates.The precipitates almost disappeared in the transition layer.Enhanced passivation effect was observed in the samples treated by a suitable high temperature oxidation.The original L-PBF samples lost 40%weight after 3-day immersion in Hank’s solution,and broke into fragments after 7-day immersion.The casted and solution treated samples lost roughly half of the weight after 28-day immersion.The high temperature oxidation samples,which were heated at 525℃ for 8 h,kept the structural integrity,and lost only 6.88%weight after 28-day immersion.The substantially improved corrosion resistance was contributed to the gradient structure at the surface.On one hand,the outmost dense layer of RE oxides isolated the corrosive medium;on the other hand,the transition layer considerably inhibited the corrosion owing to the lack of precipitates.Overall,high temperature oxidation provides an efficient,economic and safe approach to inhibit the corrosion of WE43 L-PBF samples,and has promising prospects for future clinical applications. 展开更多

The influence of zirconium on the resistance to high temperature softening of 6082 Al-Mg-Si alloys has been researched. The softening process of 6082 alloys with Zr and without Zr, isothermally conditioned at 250°C, has been investigated. The results show the inclusion of Zr inhibits the decrease of HB in hardness(HB) compared with the alloys without Zr. This is due to the Zr and Al forming coherent dispersoid-A!3Zr, and Al3Zr particles within an Al matrix, which effectively restricts grain boundary movement. A study is also carried out to investigate the changes in resistivity, which occurs during the ageing of alloys containing Zr, compared to those without Zr. It is found that in both cases there is an initial rapid rise in resistivity followed by a slower rise in resistivity as ageing proceeds. The value of resistivity is lower for 6082 alloys with Zr compared with 6082 alloys without Zr; this is explained in terms of the role of Zr in the 6082 alloys. 展开更多

High resistance thin film chip resistors(0603 type) were studied,and the specifications are as follows:1 k? with tolerance about ±0.1% after laser trimming and temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR) less than ±15×10-6/℃.Cr-Si-Ta-Al films were prepared with Ar flow rate and sputtering power fixed at 20 standard-state cubic centimeter per minute(sccm) and 100 W,respectively.The experiment shows that the electrical properties of Cr-SiTa-Al deposition films can meet the specification requirements of 0603 type thin film chip resistors when the deposition time was about 11 min and deposition films were annealed at 500 ℃ for 120 min.The morphologies of Cr-Si-TaAl film surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The analysis suggests that Ta and Al may be distributed in CrSi2 film with mixed form of several structures(e.g.,bridge-like,capillary-like or island-like structures),and such a structure distribution is responsible for high film resistance and low TCR of Cr-Si-Ta-Al film. 展开更多

Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a severe foliar disease of common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in the world. Resistance is the best approach to control the disease. The winter wheat cultivar Lantian 1 has high-temperature resistance to stripe rust. To determing the gene(s) for the stripe rust resistance, Lantian 1 was crossed with Mingxian 169 (M169). Seedlings of the parents, and F 1 , F 2 and F 2-3 progenies were tested with races CYR32 of Pst under controlled greenhouse conditions. Lantian 1 has a single partially dominant gene conferred resistance to race CYR32, designated as YrLT1. Simple sequence repeat (SSR) techniques were used to identify molecular markers linked to YrLT1. A linkage group of five SSR markers was constructed for YrLT1 using 166 F 2 plants. Based on the SSR marker consensus map and the position on wheat chromosome, the resistance gene was assigned on chromosome 2DL. Amplification of a set of nulli-tetrasomic Chinese Spring lines with SSR marker Xwmc797 confirmed that the resistance gene was located on the long arm of chromosome 2D. Because of its chromosomal location and the high-temperature resistance, this gene is different from previously described genes. The molecular map spanned 29.9 cM, and the genetic distance of two close markers Xbarc228 and Xcfd16 to resistance gene locus was 4.0 and 5.7 cM, respectively. The polymorphism rates of the flanking markers in 46 wheat lines were 2.1 and 2.1%, respectively; and the two markers in combination could distinguish the alleles at the resistance locus in 97.9% of tested genotypes. This new gene and flanking markers should be useful in developing wheat cultivars with high level and possible durable resistance to stripe rust. 展开更多

With a high energy efficiency,low geometric limitation,and low cracking susceptivity to cracks,wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)has become an ideal substitute for casting in the manufacturing of load-bearing high strength aluminum components in aerospace industry.Recently,in scientific researches,the room temperature mechanical performance of additive manufactured high strength aluminum alloys has been continuously broken through,and proves these alloys can achieve comparable or even higher properties than the forged counterpart.Since the aluminum components for aerospace usage experience high-low temperature cycling due to the absence of atmosphere protection,the high temperature performances of additive manufactured high strength aluminum alloys are also important.However,few research focuses on that.A special 2319Ag Sc with 0.4 wt.%Ag and 0.2 wt.%Sc addition designed for high temperature application is deposited successfully via cold metal transfer(CMT)based on WAAM.The microstructures and high temperature tensile properties are investigated.The results show that the as-deposited 2319Ag Sc alloy presents an alternate distribution of columnar grains and equiaxed grains with no significant textures.Main second phases are Al_(2)Cu and Al3Sc,while co-growth of Al_(2)Cu and bulk Al_(3)Sc is found on the grain boundary.During manufacturing,nanoscale Al_(2)Cu can precipitate out from the matrix.Ag and Mg form nano-scaleΩphase on the Al_(2)Cu precipitates.At 260℃,average yield strengths in the horizontal direction and vertical direction are 87 MPa±2 MPa,87 MPa±4 MPa,while average ultimate tensile strengths are 140 MPa±7 MPa,141 MPa±11 MPa,and average elongations are 11.0%±2.5%,13.5%±3.0%.Anisotropy in different directions is weak. 展开更多

The higher survival rates of Helicoverpa amigera larvae were usually observed after adverse climate which was related to extreme temperature (T) and relative humidity (RH) stresses in transgenic Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) cotton. The unstable resistance of Bt cotton to bollworms has been correlated with the reduced expression of CrylAc δ-endotoxin. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of combined temperature and relative humidity stresses on the leaf CrylAc insecticidal protein expression during critical developmental stages. The study was undertaken on two transgenic cotton cultivars that share same parental background, Sikang 1 (a conventional cultivar) and Sikang 3 (a hybrid cultivar), during the 2007 and 2008 growing seasons at the Yangzhou University Farm, Yangzhou, China. The study was arranged with two factors that consisted of temperature (two levels) and relative humidity (three levels). The six T/RH treatments were 37℃/95%, 37℃/70%, 37℃/50%, 18℃/95%, 18℃/70%, and 18℃/50%. In 2007, the six treatments were imposed to the plants at peak flowering stage for 24 h; in 2008, the six treatments were applied to the plants at peak square, peak flowering, and peak boll stages for 48 h. The results of the study indicated that the leaf insecticidal protein expression in CrylAc was significantly affected by extreme temperature only at peak flowering stage, and by both extreme temperature and relative humidity during boll filling stage. The greatest reductions were observed when the stresses were applied at peak boll stage. In 2008, after 48 h stress treatment, the leaf Bt endotoxin expression reduced by 25.9-36.7 and 23.6-40.5% at peak boll stage, but only by 14.9-26.5 and 12.8-24.0% at peak flowering stage for Sikang 1 and Sikang 3, respectively. The greatest reduction was found under the low temperature combined with low relative humidity condition for both years. It is believed that the temperature and relative humidity stresses may be attributed to the reduced efficacy of Bt cotton in growing conditions in China, where extreme temperatures often increase up to 35-40℃ and/or decrease down to 15-20℃, and relative humidity may reach to 85-95% and/or reduce to 40-55% during the cotton growing season. 展开更多

However, the size of yeast-like endosymbiotes was not obviously affected. For developing a new kind of steel to satisfy these requirements,the effects of tungsten (W)addition on the high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance of 18CrNbTi ferritic stainless steel are discussed in this study. The test results show that W enhances high-temperature strength at 1 000 ℃ and significantly improves oxidation resistance. However, W addition tends to degrade oxide layer adhesion,causing spalling during alternate hot and cold conditions. 展开更多

To fulfill the high-quality surface requirements of the Fe-36% Ni cold-rolled strip used in liquid natural gas carriers,corrosion tests were conducted on alloy surfaces using ink media with different composition in hightemperature and high-humidity conditions.The results show that the Cl^-content in ink is the main cause of surface corrosion of Fe-36%Ni alloy at 95%RH and 50℃ Cl^- penetrates the passivation film,causing pitting on the surface.This corrosive material primarily comprises elements Fe and O.After 120 h of high temperature and high humidity,pitting had occurred on the surface,which was characterized by irregularly distributed areas of bright red filamentous corrosion.With time,the corrosion gradually deepened and expanded to nearby areas.However,when the ink medium contained no Cl^-,no corrosion was found on the alloy surface.As such,during the production of Fe-36%Ni material and its application in LNG shipbuilding,care must be taken in the selection of the marker or medium that will come into contact with the strip surface to ensure that it contains no corrosive ions like Cl^-. 展开更多

Combined with the current research status in this area at home and abroad, with the improvement of salt and high temperature resistance as the research goal, the laboratory research of salt and high temperature resistant drilling fluid system has been carried out, and lubricants, inhibitors and stabilizers have been optimized. The final drilling fluid formula is: water + 3% sepiolite + 0.3% Na<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub> + 3% RH-225 + 3% KCOOH + 3% G-SPH + 3% CQA-10 + 1.5% ZX-1 + Xinjiang barite, density 2.2 g/cm<sup>3</sup>, using hot-rolling furnace, environmental scanning electron microscope, high temperature and high pressure plugging instrument and Zeiss microscopes and other instruments use core immersion experiments, permeability recovery value experiments, and static stratification index methods to perform temperature resistance, reservoir protection, plugging performance, and static settlement stability performance of the configured drilling fluid., Inhibition performance, biological toxicity, salt resistance, anti-pollution performance have been tested, and it is concluded that the temperature resistance is good under the condition of 210°C, and the salt resistance can meet the requirements of 20% NaCl + 0.5% CaCl<sub>2</sub> concentration. It has a good reservoir protection effect, the permeability recovery value can reach more than 90%, the performance of restraining water dispersion and cuttings expansion is good, the heat roll recovery rate can reach more than 85%, and the SSSI value shows that its settlement stability performance is good;Its plugging performance is good under high temperature and high pressure. Previous investigations indicate that the creep resistance of magnesium alloys is proportional to the stability of precipitated intermetallic phases at grain boundaries.These stable intermetallic phases were considered to be effective to suppress the deformation by grain boundary sliding,leading to the improvement of creep properties.Based on this point,adding the alloying elements to form the stable intermetallics with high melting point became a popular way to develop the new creep resistant magnesium alloys.The present investigation,however,shows that the creep properties of binary Mg-Sn alloy are still poor even though the addition of Sn possibly results in the precipitation of thermal stable Mg_(2)Sn at grain boundaries.That means other possible mechanisms function to affect the creep response.It is finally found that the poor creep resistance is attributed to the segregation of Sn at dendritic and grain boundaries.Based on this observation,new approaches to improve the creep resistance are suggested for magnesium alloys because most currently magnesium alloys have the commonality with the Mg-Sn alloys. 展开更多

Cementing carbonate reservoirs is generally a difficult task.The so-called thixotropic cement slurry has gained considerable attention in this regard as it can help tofix some notable problems.More precisely,it can easilyfill the leakage layer;moreover,its gelling strength can grow rapidly when pumping stops,thereby increasing the resistance to gas channeling,effectively preventing this undesired phenomenon in many cases.High-temperature thixotropic cement slurry systems,however,are still in an early stage of development and additional research is needed to make them a viable option.In the present study,using a self-developed composite high-temperature thixotropic additive as a basis,it is shown that the compressive strength can be adjusted by tuning the proportion of silica sand,the high-temperature retarder,fluid loss additive and dispersant(compatible with the thixotropic additive).According to the tests,the developed high-temperature thixotropic cement slurry system has a 14 d compressive strength of 29.73 MPa at 150°C,and a thickening time of 330 min when the dosage of retarder is 2%.At the same time,the rheological property,water loss,permeability,water separation rate,and settlement stability of the cement slurry system meet the requirements of cementing construction. 展开更多

Four kinds of high-resistivity carbon brushes with MoS2 contents of 0%,2%,4%and 6%(mass fraction)were prepared, respectively.Wear tests of brushes were conducted on an alternate current(AC)motor.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDS)were used to analyze the worn surface of brushes,and a thermocouple was used to measure the bulk temperature of the brush.The results show that wear rate of brush made without MoS2 in 10%relative humidity(RH)is two times larger than that in 50%RH,whereas the wear rates change little for the brushes made with MoS2.The wear of brushes has much to do with the surface film.In low humidity,the surface film can not be formed for the former brush while a sulfur layer can be formed for the latter brushes,which can reduce sparks,frictional heat and wear rate,and play a role like the water film in high humidity. 展开更多

Thermal contact resistance plays a very important role in heat transfer efficiency and thermomechanical coupling response between two materials,and a common method to reduce the thermal contact resistance is to fill a soft interface material between these two materials.A testing system of high temperature thermal contact resistance based on INSTRON 8874 is established in the present paper,which can achieve 600 C at the interface.Based on this system,the thermal contact resistance between superalloy GH600 material and three-dimensional braid C/C composite material is experimentally investigated,under different interface pressures,interface roughnesses and temperatures,respectively.At the same time,the mechanism of reducing the thermal contact resistance with carbon fiber sheet as interface material is experimentally investigated.Results show that the present testing system is feasible in the experimental research of high temperature thermal contact resistance. 展开更多

Organic epoxy matrices have been widely used in the FRP reinforcing technique, but they have serious disadvantages of poor high-temperature resistance. An inorganic adhesive is invented to replace the organic adhesive. For the inorganic adhesive at normal temperature and different high temperatures, the microstructure and phase composition are investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and SEM respectively. Results show that inorganic adhesive can resist at least 600 ℃ high temperature. Fire-resistance performance of inorganic adhesive can meet the requirements of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthened RC structures. 展开更多

The high-temperature oxidation-resistant MoSi2 coating on the Nb substrate was prepared by slurry firing. The structure, compositions and phase distribution of the coating and the relationship between these features and the oxidation resistance of the coating were investigated by SEM, EDS and XRD. The results indicate that the interface between the coating and the substrate has metallurgic combination, and a transitional layer is formed by diffusion. The multi-layer structure improves the oxidation resistance of the coating. The method of slurry firing to prepare the high-temperature MoSi2 coating on Nb is feasible. The SiO2 scale, which is formed on the surface of the coating by the self-oxidation of MoSi2, prevents the further diffusion of oxygen. 展开更多

To further improve the oxidation-resistance of materials and reduce the cost of grid plates in grate-kiln, a new kind of heat-resistant grid plate was developed. The microstructure of this grid plate with a life more than 18 months was studied by XRD, SEM and EDS techniques. The results show that high hardness, high intensity and good impact property make the new kind of heat-resistant grid plate and its oxide film have a higher resistance to deformation and abrasion at 900-1000℃ Besides, small grain size is beneficial to form a complete protective oxide film. The oxide film composed of SiO2 layer, Cr2O3 layer and Fe2O3 layer is rather thin and bonds closely with the backing. The forming of the chemical stable nickel-rich layer increases the density of Cr2O3 layer. 展开更多

A new type of aromatic tetraarnine containing biphenyl moiety in the side chain was synthesized via a modified Chichibabin's reaction. 3-Nitro-4-acetamidoacetophenone was reacted with 4-phenyl benzaldehyde in the presence of ammonium acetate to obtain 2,6-bis(3',4'-diaminophenyl)-4-biphenyl pyridine (DPPA). A series of polypyrrolones (PPys) were prepared using tetraamine and various aromatic dianhydrides via a two-step cyclization procedure. All the PPys show excellent high temperature stabilities with the initial decomposition temperatures of 530-549℃ and residual weight ratio of 49%-80% at 750℃ in nitrogen. The polymers exhibit no apparent glass transition temperatures (Tgs) except PPy-1 (Tg= 327℃), which is derived from tetraamine DPPA and 2,2-bis[4-(3',4'-dicarboxyphenoxy)-phenyl]propane dianhydride (BPADA). In addition, the polymers have acceptable mechanical properties with the tensile strength of 65-94 MPa. The PPy films show excellent hydrolysis-resistance in alkaline aqueous medium and could maintain most of the properties even after boiling in 10% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution for a week. 展开更多

Al-8.5Fe-1.3V-1.7Si alloy was prepared by spray deposition and hot extrusion. The high temperature plastic deformation behavior of the spray deposited Al-8.5Fe-1.3V-1.7Si alloy was investigated in the strain rate range of 2.77×10-4-2.77×10-2 s-1 and temperature range of 350-550 ℃ by Gleebe-1500 thermomechanical simulator. The mechanism of the high temperature plastic deformation of the alloys was studied by TEM associated with the analysis of Rosler-Artz physical constitutive relationship based on the model of dislocation detaching from dispersion particles. The results show that Al-Fe-V-Si alloy has low strain hardening coefficient, and even exhibits work softening. Stress exponent n and activation energy Q were calculated based on Zener-Hollomon relation and Rosler-Artz physical model respectively. The Rosler-Artz physical model can give a good prediction for the abnormal behavior of high temperature deformation of spray deposited Al-Fe-V-Si alloy, that is, n larger than 8 and Q higher than 142 kJ/mol. However, because of the highly refined microstructure, the high temperature deformation behavior of spray deposited Al-Fe-V-Si alloy deviates more or less from the law predicted by using Rosler-Artz physical model. 展开更多
