As there is no need of permanent magnet(PM)material and only silicon steel sheet required on the rotor,synchronous reluctance machine(SynRM)can be used for many applications and draws a great research interest.For the SynRM,the torque ripple is a big issue and a great of work could been done on reducing it.In this paper,asymmetrical magnetic flux barriers in the SynRM rotor were studied comprehensively,including angle and width of each layer and each side of the magnetic barrier.The SynRMb with asymmetrical and parallel magnetic flux barrier was found as the best way to design SynRM based on the multi-objective design optimization method.Moreover,each parameter was studied to show the design rule of the asymmetrical magnetic flux barrier.As the average torque will be reduced with the asymmetrical barrier is used,the grain-oriented silicon steel is used on stator teeth of the SynRMb(SynRMbG)was proposed and studied.The analysis results show that the proposed new method can make the SynRM have better performance. 展开更多

Output Voltage Ripple (OVR) Reduction of Boost Converter Using Particle Swarm Optimization

KY Boost Converter, a modern invention in the field of non-isolated DC-DC boost converter is identified for minimum voltage ripple. KY boost converter is the com- bination of KY converter and traditional boost converter. Such a converter has con- tinuous input and output inductor current, different from the traditional boost con- verter. And hence this converter is very suitable for very low-ripple applications. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based controller, FUZZY based controller and open loop KY boost converter are designed in MATLAB/Simulink model. The simu- lated results show a reduction in output ripple from 1.18 V of the existing open loop KY boost converter output to 0.54 V in the FUZZY logic controlled converter out- put. Further reduction in output ripple to 0.29 V is achieved in the proposed PSO based converter. The simulated results also show the variation of switching pulses based on the different existing and proposed method. 展开更多

This document addresses an exhaustive standalone Photovoltaic (PV) energy harvesting system considering two crucial issues: system efficiency and cost effectiveness. It contributes a compact resolution with a combined feature of Dual Mode-Multiple Output (DMMO) associated with input ripple reduction technique. Control strategy incorporates with aspect of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and output voltage levels regulation. A theoretical analysis is conducted to evaluate the effect of ripple current on PV power. Proposed dual mode converter achieves efficiency of 98.36% and 97.76% respectively for mode-1 and mode-2 operation. However, simulation is performed applying MATLAB/SIMULINK tools to analyze the feasibility of the recommended system. 展开更多

DC-Link Capacitor Optimization in AC–DC Converter by Load Current Prediction

Alternating Current–Direct Current(AC–DC)converters require a high value bulk capacitor or afilter capacitor between the DC–DC conversion stages,which in turn causes many problems in the design of a AC–DC converter.The component package size for this capacitor is large due to its high voltage rating and capacitance value.In addition,the high charging current creates more pro-blems during the product compliance testing phase.The shelf life of these specific high value capacitors is less than that of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors(MLCC),which limits its use for the highly reliable applications.This paper presents a fea-sibility study to overcome these two problems by adding a few sensing mechan-isms to the typical AC–DC converter topology.In majority of the AC–DC converter,Al-Elko capacitor takes approximately 3%to 5%of the converter size.The proposed method reduces this to approximately 50%size and so it effectively approximates 2%to 3%size reduction in converter size.The proposed method basically works based on the load current prediction method and hence it is highly suitable for the constant load application.Moreover,the converter response time increases in this method,which limit its application in high-speed systems.The high temperature application of Al-Elko capacitor is limited because of its poor performance,which is significantly rectified by replacing the Al-Elko with MLCC as it delivers good performance in high temperature. 展开更多

Bearingless switched reluctance motor(BSRM) not only combines the merits of bearingless motor(BM) and switched reluctance motor(SRM), but also decreases the vibration and acoustic noise of SRM, so it could be a strong candidate for high-speed driving fields. Under the circumstances, a 12/14 BSRM with hybrid stator pole has been proposed due to its high output torque density and excellent decoupling characteristics between torque and suspension force. However, this motor has torque dead-zone, which leads to problems of self-start at some rotor positions and large torque ripple during normal operation. To solve the existing problems in the 12/14 type, an asymmetric rotor pole type BSRM is proposed. The structure and design process of the proposed motor is presented in detail. The characteristics of the proposed motor is analyzed and compared with that of the 12/14 type. Furthermore, prototype of the proposed structure is designed, manufactured and experimented. Finally, simulation and test results are illustrated and analyzed to prove the validity of the proposed structure. 展开更多
