However, the boundaries of the sub-object obtained by PMLSF-TPBG are not variable since a specialcolor parameter is used in TPBG. To solve the problem, a new technique utilizing a varying parameter is proposed to ensure that PMLSF is effective for the detection of the desired boundaries of the sub-object. The interval of the variable color parameter is proved and the effects of the parameter are also discussed. Experimental results for the brain tumor detection show that different boundaries of the brain tumors can be detected with different color parameters. It is especially useful for clinical diagnoses.展开更多

Electric vehicles which are environmental friendly are set to increase on road in coming days. The Electric vehicles which consist of electric drive systems are made up of electric motors, inverters and batteries. There is a need to increase their output quality while decreasing their size and cost. The multilevel inverter plays a vital role in improving the quality of the output voltage of the inverter. This paper presents the implementation of Elliptical Phase Disposition Pulse Width Modulation (EPD PWM) technique for higher level of Cascaded H-Bridge Multi Level Inverter (CHBMLI). The performance of 5, 7 and 9-level CHBMLI with proposed EPD PWM scheme is analyzed for three-phase RL-load. The simulation results prove that the voltage %THD reduces from 28.09 to 12.85 to 9.69 and current %THD reduces from 25.58 to 10.22 to 9.42 as the number of inverter output level increases from 5-7-9 level respectively. The simulation is carried out on MATLAB/ SIMULINK platform and the results were compared with conventional method to validate the proposed scheme. The simulation results prove that the novel EPD-PWM technique can be used to effectively control the CBHMLI.展开更多

Past research has also concentrated on realizing a five-level NPC/H-Bridge inverter. This fails to address the principle of realizing a general cascaded N-level NPC/H-Bridge PWM inverter. This paper proposes an improved topology for achieving a nine-level cascaded NPC (neutral-point-clamped) H-Bridge inverter with reduced harmonic content. This new proposed topology requires a lesser number of separate dc sources as compared to conventional cascaded H-Bridge inverter. The whole system is considered as having four three level legs having two positive and two negative legs. By properly phase shifting the modulating wave and carriers, a nine-level output is achieved. A theoretical harmonic analysis of the proposed inverter is carried out based on double Fourier principle. The theoretical results are verified through MATLAB simulation.展开更多

It can be used to conduct analysis without interruption either in the field or at laboratory. This technique has been used successfully in such cases that conventional production logging techniques are powerless. Taking low-concentration anthracene as internal standard, we calculated the absolute concentrations!of fingerprints, initially made some experiments directly on biodegradation of crude oils, and calculated production allocation in the Gudong Oil field. Compared with the production logging, this method has made up for the deficiencies of the former GC fingerprint technique. It will find wide applications in monitoring the trend of production in various oil-fields.展开更多

The dominant plant communities of the estuarine tidal flats formed from rivers of large-scale river basins (exceeding 300 km2) were determined. In the Miya River, the dominant plant community was the Suaeda maritima and Artemisia fukudo community. In the Kushida River, the dominant plant community was composed of Phacelurus latifolius, Artemisia fukudo, Phragmites australis, and bamboo. In the Kumozu River, the dominant community was composed of the coastal plants Calystegia soldanella, Lathyrus japonicus, and Carex pumila and the exotic plant of Lolium multiflorum. The plant community of Suzuka River was dominated by the exotic plant of Eragrostis curvula. Among the estuarine tidal flats influenced by a small-scale river basin (50 km2 or less), the plant community of Shinbori River (Fukue tidal flat) was dominated by Suaeda maritima, and the plant communities of the Shio and Harai Rivers were dominated by Phragmites australis. The plant community of Tanaka River was dominated by Phragmites australis and coastal plants. Regarding the relationship between the vegetation and the river environment for each study site, we hypothesised that in a large basin area with few structures crossing the river, the river water catchment in the estuary after heavy rains caused large areas of disturbance and formed bare land, providing suitable habitat for an annual salt marsh plant community. In contrast, in cases with many structures crossing the river, a stable channel, an excavated riverbed and the suppression of runoff and the resulting disturbance of the estuary, flooding did not occur during high tide. Moreover, we hypothesised that in a small basin with many structures crossing the river, disturbance to the estuary was not likely, and the perennial salt marsh plant community of Phragmites australis would be widely distributed, except for a river type such as the Shinbori River, in which tide and river flow were managed by a final closure.展开更多
