As an important task of multi-floor localization,floor detection has elicited great attention.Wireless infrastructures like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE)play important roles in floor detection.However,most floor...As an important task of multi-floor localization,floor detection has elicited great attention.Wireless infrastructures like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE)play important roles in floor detection.However,most floor detection research tends to focus on data modelling but pays little attention to the data collection system,which is the basis of wireless infrastructure-based floor detection.In fact,the floor detection task can be greatly simplified with proper data collection system design.In this paper,a floor detection solution is developed in a multi-floor life science automation lab.A data collection system consisting of BLE beacons,a receiver node and an Internet of Things(IoT)cloud is provided.The features of the BLE beacon under different settings are evaluated in detail.A mean filter is designed to deal with the fluctuation of the received signal strength indicator data.A simple floor detection method without a training process was implemented and evaluated in more than 100 floor detection tests.The time delay and floor detection accuracy under different settings are discussed.Finally,floor detection is evaluated on the H20 multi-floor transportation robot.Two sensor nodes are installed on the robot at different heights.The floor detection performance with different installation heights is discussed.The experimental results indicate that the proposed floor detection method provides floor detection accuracy of 0.9877 to 1 with a time delay of 5s.展开更多

For attaining the purposes of the research study, an extensive literature review was conducted, which helped in gaining a theoretical understanding. These findings were then justified with the help of current and relevant secondary sources in the analysis section. The findings suggested that RPA is quite advantageous for implementing in varied aspects of a business, especially in the field of project management. However, it can pose several challenges, which need to be taken into due consideration by the organizations during execution such as the capabilities of the employees and the abilities of the existing systems to incorporate automation, among others. Using automation in painting means to automatically control the process including industrial machines like robots, conveyors and others which save time, money and also reduce human efforts. Most automation companies are specialized in industrial automation, industrial robots, communications, electronics, and software for developing complex projects to automate desirable task by integrating robots. This study is purposefully conducted to shed more light on the benefits or impacts of automation in painting furniture parts. One of the benefits that most of companies gain from automating the painting process with robots is the productivity growth. The recruitment process for specialized personnel in the painting processes has also been greatly simplified due to the fact that the robots have taken over the difficult’ tasks and protection from areas with high risk inhalation of harmful substances is assured. In this research, Automation is shown to be efficient and effective in the painting system by reviewing different studies. Automated dyeing processes in factories have made progress due to the successful results achieved by automated painting robots. Through the ETP (Economic Transformation Programme), major projects launched are expected to provide a great catalyst for the economy, and may become the platform for increasing the use of automation and highly enhanced plants and machineries in the construction industry. Innovations in most countries are mostly driven by the need to find revolutionary solutions to problems, such as a shortage of skilled labor, decreasing quality of product and processes, inferior working conditions, declining productivity and increasing costs of labor and materials. Automation and robotics technologies encompass a wide range of innovative technologies using technologically advanced machineries to improve the speed and efficiency of a given process. This paper discusses the readiness of a developing country in embracing construction automation and robotics, by exploring industry perception, suggested practices and barriers to its implementation using a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews directed at Malaysian construction finns of contractors, specialist sub-contractors, developers and consultants. The findings show that the Malaysian construction industry is ready, to a certain extent, for implementing the technologies in limited areas such as prefabrication and assembly and in the design, planning and costing phases.展开更多
