The Middle Devonian volcanic rocks in the northern area of East Junggar, located between the Ertix andUlungur rivers of northern Xinjiang, may be divided into basic and acid ones. It is evident that a compositionalgap exists between the two groups so that the volcanic rocks are not in line with a calc-alkaline series becausethe intermediate rocks are absent in the area. The fact shows that the volcanic rocks are a typical bimodal asso-ciation. The formation of the bimodal association of volcanic rocks in the area was closely related to continen-tal rifting or continental extension in the Middle Devonian. In such a tectonic setting, magmas were first pro-duced by partial melting of the mantle. Where crustal thinning was greater, the magmas ascended and eruptedon the surface directly so that the basic volcanic rocks formed, but olivine and/or partial pyroxenefractionation occurred in the magmas during their ascent through the thinning crust. On the other hand, wherecrustal thinning was less, ascending mantle-derived magmas reached the lower crust and accumulated there, re-sulting in partial melting of the lower crust and thus giving rise to the contaminated magma which was consoli-dated as acid volcanic rocks on the surface. 展开更多

Objective The Sachakou Pb-Zn polymetallic deposit is located in Hetian County, Xinjiang (geographical coordinates of E78° 57' 54.30"-78°59' 53.63", N34° 39' 27.50"-34° 40' 57.21"). It be... Objective The Sachakou Pb-Zn polymetallic deposit is located in Hetian County, Xinjiang (geographical coordinates of E78° 57' 54.30"-78°59' 53.63", N34° 39' 27.50"-34° 40' 57.21"). It belongs to the West Kunlun orogenic belt on the northwest edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is connected to the Sanjiang orogenic belt to the south (Spurlin et al., 2005). In recent years, a series of Pb-Zn mineralized spots and deposits have been discovered in this area one after another, which is called the Huoshaoyun ore concentration area. Among them, the Sachakou Pb-Zn deposit has reserves up to140 Mt, which has reached a large scale. However, the study on the genesis of deposits in this area has only just begun. This work studied the genesis ofthis Pb-Zn deposit in order to provide new ideas for the genesis of regional deposits and regional prospecting. 展开更多

The geology of the Olode area, south-western Nigeria was investigatedpetrographically and geochemically in order to elucidate the mineralisationpotential of the rock units in the area. The area under study is generallychange to underlained by granite gneiss, mica schist and pegmatites.Petrographical studies indicated prevalence of anhedral quartz (30 - 50%),plagioclase (14 - 20%), orthoclase (12 - 15%), muscovite (11 - 15%),tourmaline (6 - 10) and other minerals (8 - 11%) for the pegmatite. Thehigh value of SiO2 and Al2O3 is consistent with the petrographical study.High values and wide range in Ba (34 - 737 ppm) and Zr (3.8 - 132.6 ppm)strongly support a mixture of igneous and sedimentary. The bivariant plotsof Rb vs K/Rb, Zn vs K/Rb and Th vs K/Rb indicated a partial series offractionation, suggesting that the pegmatites are of rare element classeswhile granite gneiss and mica schist belong to the barren muscovite andrare element classes. This was supported by high ratios of K/Cs and K/Babut low Th/U values indicating distinctively low rare metal mineralization. The plot of Na2O/Al2O3 vs K2O/Al2O3 revealed an igneous precursor for allthe rock units. The negative Eu anomalies especially in the pegmatitic rockunit indicates fractionation and point toward a late metasomatic effect andtheir relatively weak negative Ce anomalies, also suggest their rare metalmineralization. The pegmatites, granite gneiss and mica schist of Olodearea considered as barren as all the samples plotted below the Gordiyenkosand Beus’ line of mineralization. 展开更多

The northern margin of the Alxa block is the junction of a tectonic units. Four first-order tectonic units are distinguished: 1. the Yagan structural zone characteristic of an immature island arc; 2. the Zhusileng-Hangwula structural zone, which was a passive continental margin in the Early Palaeozoic and was transformed into an active continental margin in the Late Palaeozoic;3. the Shalazha structural zone characteristic of a mature island arc; 4. the Nuru-Langshan structural zone, which was a Proterozoic orogenic belt and later evolved into an extensional transtional crust in the Palaeozoic. The above-mentioned tectonic units differ remarkably in sedimentary formations, magmatic rock associations, metamorphism and geochemistry and are bounded by faults between one another. 展开更多
