Propagation of exotic plant species is found in many regions of Madagascar Island. This work aims to describe the impacts of the propagation of Grevillea banksii on soil microbial activities and on the regeneration of two native tree species (Intsia bij'uga and Dalbergia trichocarpa) in the eastern part of Madagascar. The study was conducted within Ianjomara forest where some types of the vegetation are observed such as an area characterized by grassland (P 1), by homogeneous population of G. banksii (P2) and by a natural forest composed mainly of L bijuga or D. trichocarpa (P3 and P4). Structure of mycorrhizal fungi communities and associated microorganisms were described on soils from each study plot. The development of I. b^juga and 1). trichocarpa, was evaluated 4 months after planting on P1, P2, P3, P4 soils formerly colonized by G. banksii. According to the nutrients availability on each soil type, the development of G. banksii was accompanied or not by a high formation of cluster roots. The authors' results also show that soil occupied by G. banksii decreased the global microbial and phosphatase activities of soil especially on soil within a high density of cluster roots. Moderately mycotrophic, G. banksii disturbs the structure and the dynamics of symbiotic microflora such as endomycorrhizal fungi (MA) and rhizobia associated with the two native tree species. The findings illustrate the negative impact of G. banksii propagation on the regeneration and the conservation of native tree species in Madagascarian forest. 展开更多

Abstract: A split-root system was used to investigate whether the external or internal P concentration controls root cluster formation and citrate exudation in white lupin (Lupinus albus L.) grown under controlled conditions. In spite of low P concentrations in the shoots and roots of the -P plant, its dry weight was not reduced compared with the +P plant. Supplying external P (0.25 mmol/L) to one root half resulted in an increase in P concentration not only in the shoot, but also in the P-deprived root half, indicating P cycling within the plants. Omitting P from both split-root pots stimulated root cluster formation in both root halves, whereas P supply to one root half stimulated root cluster formation at the beginning of the treatment. Neither P supply to just one root half continuously nor resupply of P to one root half after 19 d of P starvation inhibited root cluster formation on the P-deprived side, although the concentration of P in this root half and shoot increased markedly. The results indicate that root cluster formation in L. albus is controlled by both shoot and root P concentrations. The rates of citrate exudation by both root halves with P deficiency were higher than those of the one root half supplied with P only. In the treatment with one root half supplied with P, the rates of citrate exudation by either the P-supplied or -deprived root halves were almost the same, regardless of P concentration in the roots. The results suggest that internal P concentration controls root cluster formation and citrate exudation in white lupin, but these processes may be regulated by different mechanisms. 展开更多

White lupin (Lupinus albus) exhibits strong root morphological and physiological responses to phosphorus (P) deficiency and auxin treatments, but the interactive effects of P and auxin in regulating root morphological and physiological traits are not fully understood. This study aimed to assess white lupin root traits as influenced by P (0 or 250 ~tmol L-1) and auxin (10=8 mol L-1 NAA) in nutrient solution. Both P deficiency and auxin treatments significantly altered root morphological traits, as evi- denced by reduced taproot length, increased number and density of first-order lateral roots, and enhanced cluster-root for- marion. Changes in root physiological traits were also observed, i.e., increased proton, citrate, and acid phosphatase exudation. Exogenous auxin enhanced root responses and sensitivity to P deficiency. A significant interplay exists between P and auxin in the regulation of root morphological and physiological traits. Principal component analysis showed that P availability ex- plained 64.8% and auxin addition 21.3% of the total variation in root trait parameters, indicating that P availability is much more important than auxin in modifying root responses of white lupin. This suggests that white lupin can coordinate root mor- phological and physiological responses to enhance acquisition of P resources, with an optimal trade-off between root morpho- logical and physiological traits regulated by external stimuli such as P availability and auxin. 展开更多

In this paper,a novel multi-frame track-before-detect algorithm is proposed, which is based on root label clustering to reduce the high computational complexity arising by observation area expansion and clutter/noise density increase.A criterion of track extrapolation is used to construct state transition set, root label is marked by state transition set to obtain the distribution information of multiple targets in measurement space, then measurement plots of multi-frame are divided into several clusters, and finally multi-frame track-before-detect algorithm is implemented in each cluster. The computational complexity can be reduced by employing the proposed algorithm.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can accurately detect multiple targets in close proximity and reduce the number of false tracks. 展开更多

The matching relationship between the spatial structure of cotton cluster root systems and soil-wetting patterns under mulched drip irrigation forms the theoretical basis for the technical design of mulched drip irrigation.A 2-year field experiment was conducted,in which different soil-wetting patterns were produced by setting different emitter discharge rates. The envelopes of cotton cluster root length densities were derived using the topological methodology and used to examine the effects of different soil-wetting patterns on the spatial structure of root systems and water uptake capacity within row spaces. The results showed that the root systems in rows of cotton grown under narrower and deeper soil-wetting patterns exhibited a single-peak distribution, while those under wider and shallower soil-wetting patterns exhibited a two-peak distribution.Furthermore, cotton rows grown near mulch edges experienced lower moisture stress, and wider and shallower soil-wetting patterns contributed to greater root growth rates in the vertical direction and resulted in more even potential water uptake capacities. The findings of this study revealed that wider and shallower soil-wetting patterns were more desirable for mulched drip irrigation of cotton and should be considered in the technical design of drip irrigation systems. 展开更多

Our motivation is to build a systematic method in order to investigate the structure of cluster algebras of geometric type. The method is given through the notion of mixing-type sub-seeds, the theory of seed homomorphisms and the view-point of gluing of seeds. As an application, for(rooted) cluster algebras, we completely classify rooted cluster subalgebras and characterize rooted cluster quotient algebras in detail. Also,we build the relationship between the categorification of a rooted cluster algebra and that of its rooted cluster subalgebras. Note that cluster algebras of geometric type studied here are of the sign-skew-symmetric case. 展开更多
