The influence of aging treatment on transformation behavior and shape memory of the Ti 50_x Ni_(48) Fe_2 Nb_x(x=0,0.6,0.8,1.0,and 1.2) alloys was investigated using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),mechanical drawing machine,and microhardness tester in this paper.It is indicated that the aging treatment has a significant effect on the phase transformation temperatures(M_s,M_f,M_p,A_s,A_f,and A_p) and microhardness of the samples.The phase transformation temperatures are found to decrease initially with the increasing aging temperature from 300 to 500 ℃ and increase with further increase of the aging temperature.The aging treatment at intermediate temperature between 400 and 500 ℃ results in an improved shape memory effect.In addition,the highest microhardness value is also obtained. 展开更多

The effect of austenite aging at 823 K on the microstructures and martensitic transformation behavior of Co 46 Ni 27 Ga 27 alloy has been investigated using optical microscopy (OM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The microstructure observation results show that the unaged Co 46 Ni 27 Ga 27 alloy is composed of the tetragonal nonmodulated martensite phase and face-centered cubic γ phase. It is found that a new nanosized fcc phase precipitates in the process of austenite aging, leading to the formation of metastable age-affected martensite around the precipitates with composition inhomogeneity. Two-stage reverse martensitic transformation occurs in the samples aged for 2 and 24 h due to the composition difference between the age-affected martensite and the original martensite. For the Co 46 Ni 27 Ga 27 alloy aged for 120 h, no reverse transformation can be detected due to the disappearance of the metastable age-affected martensite and the small latent heat of the original martensite. The martensitic transformation temperatures of the Co 46 Ni 27 Ga 27 alloy decrease with an increase in aging time. 展开更多

The influence of aging on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu-11.6wt%Al-3.9wt%Ni-2.5wt%Mn shape memory alloy(SMA) was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffractometer,and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC).Experimental results show that bainite,γ2,and α phase precipitates occur with the aging effect in the alloy.After aging at 300°C,the bainitic precipitates appear at the early stages of aging,while the precipitates of γ2 phase are observed for a longer aging time.When the aging temperature increases,the bainite gradually evolves into γ2 phase and equilibrium α phase(bcc) precipitates from the remaining parent phase.Thus,the bainite,γ2,and α phases appear,while the martensite phase disappears progressively in the alloy.The bainitic precipitates decrease the reverse transformation temperature while the γ2 phase precipitates increase these temperatures with a decrease of solute content in the retained parent phase.On the other hand,these precipitations cause an increasing in hardness of the alloy. 展开更多

The phase transformation behavior and micro structure of Nb-Ru alloys have been studied by DSC, X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM). Two-step phase transformation of CsCl (β) →face-centered tetragonal (β)→ monoclinic (β') occurs during cooling from high temperature to room temperature. The lattice parameters of marten-sites of Nb-Ru alloys were found to increase with the increase of Nb content. The martensite variants exhibit triangular self-accommodating morphology, with alternating regular bands inside. The twinning relationship between the sub structural bands was found to be (101) type I mode, and this kind of twinning interface was straight, well-defined and coherent. 展开更多

The use of Ni-rich TiNiHf alloys as high temperature shape memory alloys (SMAs) through aging has been presented. For Ni-rich Ti80-xNixHf20 alloys, their phase transformation temperatures are averagely increased more than 100 K by aging at 823 K for 2 h. Especially for the alloys with Ni-content of 50.4 at. pct and 50.6 at. pct, their martensitic transformation start temperatures (Ms) are more than 473 K after aging. TEM observation confirmed that some fine particles precipitate from the matrix during aging. The aged Ni-rich TiNiHf SMAs show the better thermal stability of phase transformation temperatures than the solutiontreated TiNiHf alloys. The fine particles precipitated during aging should be responsible for the increase of phase transformation temperatures and its high stability. 展开更多

The effect of Nb content on the martensitic transformation of NbRu high-temperature shape memory alloys is investigated by experiments and first-principles calculations. We calculate the lattice parameters, density of states, charge density, and heats of formation of Nb50+xRu50-x βphase. The results show that an increase in Nb content increases the stability of Nbso+xRu50-x β phase, leading to a significant decrease of the β to β ′martensitic transformation temperature. In addition, the mechanism of the effects of Nb content on phase stability and martensitic transformation temperature is studied on the basis of electronic structure. 展开更多

It is found that the total energy difference between paramagnetic and ferromagnetic austenite states plays an important role in the magnetic transition of Ni-Mn-Sn under pressure. The pressure increases the relative stability of the martensite with respect to the anstenite, leading to an increase of the martensitic transformation temperature. Moreover, the effects of pressure on the magnetic properties and the martensitic transformation are discussed based on the electronic structure. 展开更多

The martensitic transformation in Co37Ni34Al29 ribbon is characterized in detail by means of in-situ thermostatic x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements.The results show a structural transition from the body-centred cubic to martensite with a tetragonal structure during cooling.Comparison between the results of the diffraction intensity with the magnetic susceptibility measurements indicates that the martensitic transformation takes place in several different steps during cooling from 273 to 163 K.During heating from 313 to 873 K,the peak width becomes very wide and the intensity turns very low.The γ-phase (face-centred cubic structure) emerges and increases gradually with temperature increasing from 873 to 1073 K. 展开更多

It is found that the transformations occur not only in the as quenched sample, but also in the as trained, as aged and as thermal cycled samples, and various treatments give rise to different influences on the transformation temperatures of the two transformations. Though the temperature interval between the two transformation peaks increases after training, aging and thermal cycling, the initial temperature of the M → A transformation is just the final temperature of the X → M transformation, namely, the X → M transformation is immediately followed by the M → A transformation upon heating. 展开更多

NiTi alloys have drawn significant attentions in biomedical and aerospace fields due to their unique shape memory effect(SME),superelasticity(SE),damping characteristics,high corrosion resistance,and good biocompatibility.Because of the unsatisfying processabilities and manufacturing requirements of complex NiTi components,additive manufacturing technology,especially laser powder bed fusion(LPBF),is appropriate for fabricating NiTi products.This paper comprehensively summarizes recent research on the NiTi alloys fabricated by LPBF,including printability,microstructural characteristics,phase transformation behaviors,lattice structures,and applications.Process parameters and microstructural features mainly influence the printability of LPBF-processed NiTi alloys.The phase transformation behaviors between austenite and martensite phases,phase transformation temperatures,and an overview of the influencing factors are summarized in this paper.This paper provides a comprehensive review of the mechanical properties with unique strain-stress responses,which comprise tensile mechanical properties,thermomechanical properties(e.g.critical stress to induce martensitic transformation,thermo-recoverable strain,and SE strain),damping properties and hardness.Moreover,several common structures(e.g.a negative Poisson’s ratio structure and a diamond-like structure)are considered,and the corresponding studies are summarized.It illustrates the various fields of application,including biological scaffolds,shock absorbers,and driving devices.In the end,the paper concludes with the main achievements from the recent studies and puts forward the limitations and development tendencies in the future. 展开更多

The high Curie temperature can be attributed to the stronger Co-Mn exchange interaction as compared to the Ni-Mn one. 形状记忆合金(shape memory alloys,简称SMA)具有复杂的热力本构关系,为了模拟SMA及其组合结构复杂的受力和变形行为,在数值模拟中需要采用可靠且高效的应力点积分算法。隐式应力点回映算法已经成功应用于形状记忆合金的数值模拟,但在... 形状记忆合金(shape memory alloys,简称SMA)具有复杂的热力本构关系,为了模拟SMA及其组合结构复杂的受力和变形行为,在数值模拟中需要采用可靠且高效的应力点积分算法。隐式应力点回映算法已经成功应用于形状记忆合金的数值模拟,但在复杂加载条件下,荷载增量较大时有可能导致整体非线性迭代求解不收敛。推广了局部误差控制的显式子步积分算法,首次将其应用于形状记忆合金及其组合结构这类热力相变问题的应力点积分,并通过数值算例对所提算法和隐式应力点回映算法进行了比较。数值结果表明:对于大规模数值模拟和计算,整体子步步数决定着总体计算时间;所提出的修正Euler自动子步方案可以有效减少整体子步步数,在保证相同计算精度的前提下能够大幅提高有限元计算效率,因而更适合大规模形状记忆合金智能结构的数值模拟。 展开更多
