Methods: Thirty-two late-stage elderly individuals were evaluated for knee pain during rest, walking, and program exercises, with and without TENS. Gait analysis was performed using an IoT-based gait analysis device to examine the effects of TENS-induced analgesia on gait. Results: TENS significantly reduced knee pain during rest, walking, and programmed exercises, with the greatest analgesic effect observed during walking. The greater the knee pain without TENS, the more significant the analgesic effect of TENS. A comparison of gait parameters revealed a significant difference only in the gait cycle time, with a trend towards faster walking with TENS;however, the effect was limited. Conclusion: TENS effectively relieves knee pain in late-stage elderly individuals and can be safely applied during exercise. Pain management using TENS provides important insights into the implementation of exercise therapy in this age group.展开更多

It consists of two coupled models, a device load model to characterize the power consumption of an electric device of interest, and a user intention model for describing the user intentions which cause the energy consumption. The advantage of this joint model is the ability to predict the device load from the user intention and to reconstruct the user intention from the measured device load. This opens a new way for load monitoring, simulation and prediction from the perspective of users instead of devices.展开更多

This device is a parallel mechanism which is composed of a base plate, three sub-chains, and a mobile plate. Each sub-chain is attached to the base plate through a pin joint and to the top plate through a spherical joint. The sub-chain is derived from and kinematically equivalent to a pantograph linkage but is redesigned to solve the difficult problem of motor-fitting. The spherical joint is of the ball-in-socket type, but has much larger workspace than its regular counterpart. The kinematics is analyzed, and the inverse kinematics analysis is performed with a geometric approach. The complete workspace is readily obtained with the spherical coordinate system searching method. The optimal value of the cone angle of the spherical joint is shown to be 100°.展开更多
