Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in Chinese women, and its incidence is increasing.Regular screening is an effective method for early tumor detection and improving patient prognosis. In this review,we analyze the epidemiological changes and risk factors associated with breast cancer in China and describe the establishment of a screening strategy suitable for Chinese women.Chinese patients with breast cancer tend to be younger than Western patients and to have denser breasts. Therefore, the age of initial screening in Chinese women should be earlier, and the importance of screening with a combination of ultrasound and mammography is stressed. Moreover,Chinese patients with breast cancers have several ancestry-specific genetic features, and aiding in the determination of genetic screening strategies for identifying high-risk populations. On the basis of current studies,we summarize the development of risk-stratified breast cancer screening guidelines for Chinese women and describe the significant improvement in the prognosis of patients with breast cancer in China. 展开更多

To compress screen image sequence in real-time remote and interactive applications,a novel compression method is proposed. The proposed method is named as CABHG.CABHG employs hybrid coding schemes that consist of intra-frame and inter-frame coding modes. The intra-frame coding is a rate-distortion optimized adaptive block size that can be also used for the compression of a single screen image. The inter-frame coding utilizes hierarchical group of pictures(GOP) structure to improve system performance during random accesses and fast-backward scans.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CABHG method has approximately 47%-48% higher compression ratio and 46%-53% lower CPU utilization than professional screen image sequence codecs such as TechSmith Ensharpen codec and Sorenson 3 codec.Compared with general video codecs such as H.264 codec,XviD MPEG-4 codec and Apple's Animation codec,CABHG also shows 87%-88% higher compression ratio and 64%-81% lower CPU utilization than these general video codecs. 展开更多

Despite great efforts in experimental and clinical research, the prognosis of pancreatic cancer (PC) has not changed significantly for decades. Detection of pre-invasive lesions or early-stage PC with small resectable cancers in asymptomatic individuals remains one of the most promising approaches to substantially improve the overall outcome of PC. Therefore, screening programs have been proposed to identify curable lesions especially in individuals with a familial or genetic predisposition for PC. In this regard, Canto et al recently contributed an important article comparing computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and endoscopic ultrasound for the screening of 216 asymptomatic high-risk individuals (HRI). Pancreatic lesions were detected in 92 of 216 asymptomatic HRI (42.6%). The high diagnostic yield in this study raises several questions that need to be answered of which two will be discussed in detail in this commentary: First: which imaging test should be performed? Second and most importantly: what are we doing with incidentally detected pancreatic lesions? Which ones can be observed and which ones need to be resected? 展开更多
