Acoustic parameters in deep water are not well understood. Bottom acoustic parameters are sensitive to the transmission-loss (TL) data in the shadow zone of deep water. We propose a multiple-step fill inversion method to invert sound speed, density and attenuation in deep water. Based on a uniform liquid hMf-space bottom model, sound speed of the bottom is inverted by using the long range TL at low frequency obtained in an acoustic propagation experiment conducted in the South China Sea (SCS) in summer 2014. Meanwhile, bottom density is estimated combining with the Hamilton sediment empirical relationship. Attenuation coefficients at different frequencies are then estimated from the TL data in the shadow zones by using the known sound speed and density as a constraint condition. The nonlinear relationship between attenuation coefficient and frequency is given in the end. Tile inverted bottom parameters can be used to forecast the transmission loss in the deep water area of SCS very we//. 展开更多

In order to develop a coupled basin scale model of ocean circulation and biogeochemical cycling,we present a biogeochemical model including 12 components to study the ecosystem in the China coastal seas(CCS).The formulation of phytoplankton mortality and zooplankton growth are modified according to biological characteristics of CCS.The four sensitivity biological parameters, zooplankton assimilation efficiency rate(ZooAE_N),zooplankton basal metabolism rate(ZooBM),maximum specific growth rate of zooplankton(μ_(20)) and maximum chlorophyll to carbon ratio(Chl2C_m) are obtained in sensitivity experiments for the phytoplankton, and experiments about the parameter μ_(20'),half-saturation for phytoplankton NO_3 uptake(K_(NO_3)) and remineralization rate of small detritusN(SDeRRN) are conducted. The results demonstrate that the biogeochemical model is quite sensitive to the zooplankton grazing parameter when it ranges from 0.1 to 1.2 d^(-1).The K_(NO_3) and SDeRRN also play an important role in determining the nitrogen cycle within certain ranges. The sensitive interval of KNO_3 is from 0.1 to 1.5(mmol/m^3)^(-1),and interval of SEdRRN is from 0.01 and 0.1 d^(-1).The observational data from September 1998 to July 2000 obtained at SEATS station are used to validate the performance of biological model after parameters optimization. The results show that the modified model has a good capacity to reveal the biological process features, and the sensitivity analysis can save computational resources greatly during the model simulation. 展开更多

A WAVEWATCH III version 3.14(WW3) wave model is used to evaluate input/dissipation source term packages WAM3, WAM4 and TC96 considering the effect of atmospheric instability. The comparisons of a significant wave height acquired from the model with different packages have been performed based on wave observation radar and HY-2 altimetry significant wave height data through five experiments in the South China Sea domain spanning latitudes of 0°–35°N and longitudes of 100°–135°E. The sensitivity of the wind speed correction parameter in the TC96 package also has been analyzed. From the results, the model is unable to dissipate the wave energy efficiently during a swell propagation with either source packages. It is found that TC96 formulation with the "effective wind speed" strategy performs better than WAM3 and WAM4 formulations. The wind speed correction parameter in the TC96 source package is very sensitive and needs to be calibrated and selected before the WW3 model can be applied to a specific region. 展开更多

A new ocean wave and sea surface current monitoring system with horizontally-(HH) and vertically-(VV) polarized X-band radar was developed. Two experiments into the use of the radar system were carried out at two sites, respectively, for calibration process in Zhangzi Island of the Yellow Sea,and for validation in the Yellow Sea and South China Sea.Ocean wave parameters and sea surface current velocities were retrieved from the dual polarized radar image sequences based on an inverse method. The results obtained from dual-polarized radar data sets acquired in Zhangzi Island are compared with those from an ocean directional buoy. The results show that ocean wave parameters and sea surface current velocities retrieved from radar image sets are in a good agreement with those observed by the buoy.In particular,it has been found that the vertically-polarized radar is better than the horizontally-polarized radar in retrieving ocean wave parameters, especially in detecting the significant wave height below 1.0 m. 展开更多

The remote measurement of the vertical distribution of acoustical parameters of the sea bottom is an inverse method in acoustics. The existing methods can be divided into two types: the wave method and the ray method. The former usually does not apply to cases with discontinuity in acoustical parameter profiles[1] , whereas the latter usually ignores the contributions made by multiple reflections, resulting in the appearance of pseudo interfaces. However, under certain practical circumstances, the ray method can produce satisfactory results[2,3]. In this paper, at first we use the conception of equitime layer thickness to obtain the pulse response iteration method. The anti-interference capability of this method is poor. In order to improve this capability, we develope the sample iteration method and the sample-averaging iteration method. The sample-averaging iteration method introduces a way of statistical averaging, which can further improve the anti-interference capability. 展开更多

Based on classical energy balance equations for two coupled systems in Statistical Energy Analyis (SEA), the possibility of causing negative loss factors in measuring SEA parameters by using the equations is analyzed. The physical causes of formation of negative loss factors are theoretically invstigated by vibration analysis of the two non-conservatively coupled oscillator sets. Mom the analytical results, it is shown that the necessary condition of foedng negatbo loss factors is that the coupling of the coupled systems is non-conservative and strong and the suffiient condition is that the excitation frequency of the external force is not equal to the natural frequencies of the two oscillators at the sam tAne or the parameters of the two oscillators are much different. The absolute values of the negative loss factors increase with the increase of the coupling pararneters. 展开更多
