In this study,the frequency characteristics of the turbulent wind and the effects of wind-wave coupling on the low-and high-frequency responses of semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbines(FOWT)are investigated.Various wave load components,such as first-order wave loads,combined first-and second-order difference-frequency wave loads,combined first-and second-order sum-frequency wave loads,and first-and complete second-order wave loads are taken into consideration,while different turbulent environments are considered in aerodynamic loads.The com-parison is based on time histories and frequency spectra of platform motions and structural load responses and statistical values.The findings indicate that the second-order difference-frequency wave loads will significantly increase the natural frequency of low-frequency motion in the responses of the platform motion and structure load of the semi-submersible platform,which will cause structural fatigue damage.Under the action of turbulent wind,the influences of second-order wave loads on the platform motion and structural load response cannot be ignored,especially under extreme sea conditions.Therefore,in order to evaluate the dynamic responses of semi-submersible FOWT more accurately,the actual environment should be simulated more realistically. 展开更多

We report a type-I Ga Sb-based laterally coupled distributed-feedback(LC-DFB) laser with shallow-etched gratings operating a continuous wave at room temperature without re-growth process. Second-order Bragg gratings are fabricated alongside the ridge waveguide by interference lithography. Index-coupled LC-DFB laser with a cavity of 1500 μm achieves single longitudinal mode continuous-wave operation at 20℃ with side mode suppression ratio(SMSR) as high as 24 dB.The maximum single mode continuous-wave output power is about 10 mW at room temperature(uncoated facet). A low threshold current density of 230 A/cm^2 is achieved with differential quantum efficiency estimated to be 93 mW/A. The laser shows a good wavelength stability against drive current and working temperature. 展开更多

The formulation of... This paper focuses on the dynamic thermo-mechanical coupled response of random particulate composite materials. Both the inertia term and coupling term are considered in the dynamic coupled problem. The formulation of the problem by a statistical second-order two-scale (SSOTS) analysis method and the algorithm procedure based on the finite-element difference method are presented. Numerical results of coupled cases are compared with those of uncoupled cases. It shows that the coupling effects on temperature, thermal flux, displacement, and stresses are very distinct, and the micro- characteristics of particles affect the coupling effect of the random composites. Furthermore, the coupling effect causes a lag in the variations of temperature, thermal flux, displacement, and stresses. 展开更多

In this paper, the low-lying Λ–S and ? electronic states of OsO have been comprehensively studied by the high-precision multi-reference calculations. The ground state of OsO is unexpectedly the closed-shell1Σ+state with a double bond instead of the previously reported3Φ or5Σ+state;after including the spin–orbit coupling effects, the ground state becomes3Π2. With the help of the theoretical spectroscopic constants and transition dipole moments, the emission spectra in the region of 405 nm–875 nm are assigned.Our results will facilitate the future studies of absorption and emission spectra of OsO. 展开更多

To realize the application of the floating offshore wind turbine(FOWT)from deep to relatively shallow waters,a new concept of multi-column floating wind turbine platform with low center of gravity(CG)is designed and validated.The multi-column low CG platform is designed to support a 6MW wind turbine class and operated at a water depth of 50m in the South China Sea.The frequency domain software WADAM and time domain software NREL-FAST are used to simulate coupled dynamic responses of the floating wind turbine system with second-order wave loads considering.The dynamic behaviors of multi-column low CG FOWT system under normal operation and parked conditions are presented.The influence of second-order wave force on the motion responses of the multi-column platform,fore-aft force and moment of the tower base and mooring force are researched respectively.The results demonstrate that the coupled dynamic responses at rated operating condition and extreme condition meet the normal operating requirements and extreme survival requirements of FOWT system in the shallow water(50m)of South China Sea.In addition,it is found that,the wave frequency response gradually replaces the second-order low frequency response as the main influencing factor of the coupled dynamic response of the FOWT system with the increasing severity of the sea states.However,in general,the magnitude of second-order low frequency response increases with the increasing severity of the design load case.Thus,in the subsequent design of the shallow water FOWT system,the second-order effects should be paid enough attention. 展开更多

Some techniques, such as the calculus of variations, energy analysis method, commutativity of the products of difference operators, decomposition of high-order difference operators and the theory of a priori estimates are introduced and an optimal order error estimates in l^2 norm is derived. This method has been applied successfully to the numerical simulation of enhanced oil production in actual oilfields, and the simulation results ate quite interesting and satisfactory. 展开更多

A nonlinear fully implicit finite difference scheme with second-order time evolution for nonlinear diffusion problem is studied.The scheme is constructed with two-layer coupled discretization(TLCD)at each time step.It does not stir numerical oscillation,while permits large time step length,and produces more accurate numerical solutions than the other two well-known second-order time evolution nonlinear schemes,the Crank-Nicolson(CN)scheme and the backward difference formula second-order(BDF2)scheme.By developing a new reasoning technique,we overcome the difficulties caused by the coupled nonlinear discrete diffusion operators at different time layers,and prove rigorously the TLCD scheme is uniquely solvable,unconditionally stable,and has second-order convergence in both s-pace and time.Numerical tests verify the theoretical results,and illustrate its superiority over the CN and BDF2 schemes. 展开更多
