In order to answer the question how innovation takes place in one transition country, key influencing factors were identify (i.e., firm's size, age, ownership, industry sector, personnel qualifications and experience). Based on the analysis of a sample comprising 73 firms, the study tried to highlight certain innovation barriers, which may have a negative impact on the total efficiency of economic performance, and growth and development of manufacturing firms in Serbia. Comparing overall innovation activities of Serbian firms to the other transition countries, it can be concluded that majority of the fhnns had innovation performances below the level EU-27. This study draws out the potential contributions to existing literature of managing innovation in Serbia.展开更多

The author describes the prob-lems of extending the research in agriculture, the implementation of its results into production and increasing innovation activity. Also has considered the possibility of extra-budgetary funding of research in agrarian sector, and given a recommendation on the use of bank loans by (dehkan) private households, farmers and other stakeholders in the financing of sci-entific research. The findings based on socio-logical survey, among the different farms on the use of innovative ideas for development of production. Offered mechanism of funding, the implementation of scientific production, as well as providing market participants of the scientific and technical products allows removing the shortage of financial resources. The main direc-tions of investment mobilization has been iden-tified in the research process from extra-budgetary funds. Statistical data reflecting the amount of agricultural land use in Uzbekistan has adduced and its structure in key areas. Here is given the number of farms operating as a major agricultural producer of the leased land area and the state long-term basis. Also, de-scribes the main problems of agricultural pro-ducers, hindering the development of produc-tion of marketable products. In this paper, the main attention is shown the importance of in-novative ideas for further development of the agricultural sector as a basis for providing peo-ple with food today and in the future.展开更多

High household saving rates, fixed exchange rate regime, and extensive capital controls helped this stage as well. While the structural changes in the labor market conditions by moving from primary sectors to more capital intensive heavy industry, construction, commerce, and other service sectors have been contributed to the economic growth, competition, and productivity, due to the direct state governance or intensive interventions, competition and productivity have been curtailed on certain large industries. Aiming to eliminate this unproductive economic activity, enterprise sector reforms of China targeted restructuring the state enterprise's capital, organization, and management system. Besides, the reforms on science and technology system seek to participate in global production and R&D networks by improving high-tech sectors through creating strong complementarity and collaboration between skilled human capital and educational interferences.展开更多

Access to modern energy is essential for the supply of clean water, hygiene and health, and for the provision of reliable and efficient lighting, heating, cooking, and mechanical power. It seems clear, therefore, that the energy factor and its availability, the demand for which is growing, must be ensured over time. Moreover, considering that the world population will significantly increase in coming decades and, legitimately, all of these individuals want access to sources of energy for a better quality of life. The patterns of consumption most commonly used nowadays are expensive and highly polluting, but, most importantly, now they are almost completely exhausted. Therefore, research has to find sources of "alternative" and renewable energy in order to sustain the continuously growing global demand for energy. It is necessary, therefore, to develop and improve policies in order to change current consumption patterns, while strengthening approaches and strategies for sustainable models, applying incentives for good behavior and penalizing waste, and promoting the empowerment of producers. This paper concerns this sector and aims to highlight innovation in bioclimatic and eco-friendly buildings.展开更多

The purpose is to understand how the insertion in international markets, either through exporting, importing, receiving foreign direct investment, or outsourcing affects the innovative outcomes of manufacturing finns. Using logistic regressions, this paper contributes to the literature analyzing the case of a single developing country and concludes that, after controlling for the size of the firm, its innovative effort, and the market concentration of the industry where the firm is situated, exporting does not promote product or process innovations but promotes the generation of innovation for the world; being an importer does not affect the innovative outcomes of the firm; Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) also promotes innovation for the world, while outsourcing inhibits the generation of both products and innovations for the world.展开更多
