Reliability Sensitivity-based Correlation Coefficient Calculation in Structural Reliability Analysis

The correlation coefficients of random variables of mechanical structures are generally chosen with experience or even ignored,which cannot actually reflect the effects of parameter uncertainties on reliability.To discuss the selection problem of the correlation coefficients from the reliability-based sensitivity point of view,the theory principle of the problem is established based on the results of the reliability sensitivity,and the criterion of correlation among random variables is shown.The values of the correlation coefficients are obtained according to the proposed principle and the reliability sensitivity problem is discussed.Numerical studies have shown the following results：（1） If the sensitivity value of correlation coefficient ρ is less than（at what magnitude 0.000 01）,then the correlation could be ignored,which could simplify the procedure without introducing additional error.（2） However,as the difference between ρs,that is the most sensitive to the reliability,and ρR,that is with the smallest reliability,is less than 0.001,ρs is suggested to model the dependency of random variables.This could ensure the robust quality of system without the loss of safety requirement.（3） In the case of ｜Eabs｜ρ0.001 and also ｜Erel｜ρ0.001,ρR should be employed to quantify the correlation among random variables in order to ensure the accuracy of reliability analysis.Application of the proposed approach could provide a practical routine for mechanical design and manufactory to study the reliability and reliability-based sensitivity of basic design variables in mechanical reliability analysis and design.

A Method of Determining Selectivity Coefficients Based on the Practical Slope of Ion Selective Electrodes

It is a problem to be solved that the experimental selectivity coefficients of ion selective electrodes (ISEs) depend on the activity. This paper studied the new method of determining selectivity coefficients. A mixed ion response equation, which was similar to Nicolsky-Eisenman (N-E) equation recommended by IUPAC, was proposed. The equation includes the practical response slope of ISEs to the primary ion and the interfering ion. The selectivity coefficient was defined by the equation instead of the N-E equation. The experimental part of the method is similar to that based on the N-E equation. The values of selectivity coefficients obtained with this method do not depend on the activity whether the electrodes exhibit the Nernst response or non-Nernst response. The feasibility of the new method is illustrated experimentally.

Molecular Design of Crown Ethers. 19~1. Synthesis of Novel Disulfide and Diselenide-Bridged Bis (benzo-12-crown-4)s and their Ag^+ Selective Electrode Properties

Two novel heteroatom-bridged his (benzo-12-crown-4 ether)s, i.e. his [2-nitro-4,5 (1,4,7,10-tetraoxadecamethylene) disulfide 1 and diselenide 2, have been synthesized. X ray crystallographic structure was obtained for 1. Ion selective electrodes (ISE) for Ag+, containing 1 and 2 in PVC membrane as neutral carriers, were prepared, and their selectivity coefficients for Ag^+ (K_(Ag.M)^(pot)) were determined against other heavy metal ions, alkali and alkaline-earth metal ions. and ammonium ion. These ISEs showed excellent Ag^+ selectivities, log K_(Ag.M)^(pot) ≤ -3.8, against most of the interfering canons examined, except for Hg^+.

Quality of correlation in quantum information

A strong and stable correlation in quantum information is of high quality for quantum information processing.We define two quantities,selective average correlation and ripple coefficient,to evaluate the quality of correlation in quantum information in a time interval.As a new communication channel,Heisenberg spin chains are widely investigated.We select a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZs pin chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction in an inhomogeneous magnetic field as an example,and use the two quantities to evaluate the qualities of the correlation in quantum information with different measures.The result shows that,if the time evolutions are similar,there needs only evaluating one of them to know when the correlation has high quality for quantum information processing.

A study of ion exchange selectivity coefficient by cyclic voltammetric measurement

An equation to express ion exchange selectivity coefficient was derived and used for cal- culating that of PPY film with the results obtained by cyclic voltamrnetric measurement.PPY film was synthesized by electrochemical method in aqueous solution using K_4Fc(CN)_6 as supporting electrolyte, and the anions were doped into the film.Ion exchange behaviour of doped Fe(CN)_6^(3-/4-)in the PPY film with Cl^-,NO_3^- or F^- ions in solution has been studied,and the corresponding ion exchange selec- tivity coefficients were determined.
