This study examines the impact of farmers’cooperatives participation and technology adoption on their economic welfare in China.A double selectivity model(DSM)is applied to correct for sample selection bias stemming from both observed and unobserved factors,and a propensity score matching(PSM)method is applied to calculate the agricultural income difference with counter factual analysis using survey data from 396 farmers in 15 provinces in China.The findings indicate that farmers who join farmer cooperatives and adopt agricultural technology can increase agricultural income by 2.77 and 2.35%,respectively,compared with those non-participants and non-adopters.Interestingly,the effect on agricultural income is found to be more significant for the low-income farmers than the high-income ones,with income increasing 5.45 and 4.51%when participating in farmer cooperatives and adopting agricultural technology,respectively.Our findings highlight the positive role of farmer cooperatives and agricultural technology in promoting farmers’economic welfare.Based on the findings,government policy implications are also discussed. 展开更多

Color filters are produced using semiconductor production techniques although problems with low yield remain to be addressed. This study presents a new means of selective removal using excimer irradiation, chemical etching, or electrochemical machining on the fifth generation TFT LCDs. The selective removal of microstructure layers from the color filter surface of an optoelectronic flat panel display, as well as complete removal of the ITO thin-films, RGB layer, or resin black matrix (BM) layer from the substrate is possible. Individual defective film layers can be removed, or all films down to the Cr layer or bare glass can be completely eliminated. Experimental results demonstrate that defective ITO thin-films, RGB layers, or the resin BM layer can now be recycled with a great precision. When the ITO or RGB layer proves difficult to remove, excimer light can be used to help with removal. During this recycling process, the use of 225 nm excimer irradiation before chemical etching, or electrochemical machining, makes removal of stubborn film residues easy, effectively improving the quality of recycled color filters and reducing fabrication cost. 展开更多

The side mode suppression ratio is over 50 dB. A 32Gb/s eye diagram is measured with a 3.SVpp nonreturn-to-zero pseudorandom modulation signal at -2.3 V bias. Selecting the promising technologies to incorporate in new products is challenging for enterprises, especially for those who compete in emerging high-technology industries. By integrating external factor evaluation (EFE) and internal factor evaluation (1FE) matrix, this study proposes a new technology selection method. The proposed fi'am^work is applied to a real technology selection problem faced by a bio-technology enterprise in the context of China' s economic, political and social environment. Two major aspects and 24 external/internal factors are determined. This study uses analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method to sort the information and derives weights of each criterion. Empirical results indicate that the candidate technology is promising, and shall be developed as one of the enterprise's primary products. 展开更多

In order to predict the extreme load of the mechanical components during the entire life,an automatic method based on the bootstrapping technology(BT)is proposed to determine the most suitable threshold.Based on all the turning points of the load history and a series of thresholds estimated in advance,the generalized Pareto distribution is established to fit the exceedances.The corresponding distribution parameters are estimated with the maximum likelihood method.Then,BT is employed to calculate the mean squared error(MSE)of each estimated threshold based on the exceedances and the specific distribution parameters.Finally,the threshold with the smallest MSE will be the optimal one.Compared to the kurtosis method and the mean excess function method,the average deviation of the probability density function of exceedances determined by BT reduces by 38.52%and 29.25%,respectively.Moreover,the quantile-quantile plot of the exceedances determined by BT is closer to a straight line.The results suggest the improvement of the modeling flexibility and the determined threshold precision.If the exceedances are insufficient,BT will enlarge their amount by resampling to solve the instability problem of the original distribution parameters. 展开更多

Efficient SPME-GC-FID analyses of benzene- toluene-ethylbenzene-xylenes (BTEXs) and low-polar halocarbon were achieved by the sol-gel coated DSDA-DDBT-TiO2 fiber. Selection of the optimum combination of its elements constitutes a complex multiple variant and criteria problem of decision making. In this paper describes the theoretical part of the method proposed for the quantitative analysis and selection of the most competent technological schemes, based on the mathematical formulations of the selection criteria of the element of each level as functions of the alternative variants of the elements of the level and its adjacent levels. It is realized in accordance to standard procedures of decision making in the formation of the economical mathematical model of the cumulative influence of levels and elements on the effectiveness of all alternative variants in their analysis and generation of a small subset of the most competent variants, which are subjected to further analysis using the criterion of reliability in the generation of the optimum technological scheme. The scientific challenge inherent in its realization constitutes a PhD research opportunity for those interested in the problems of optimization in hard rock surface mines. 展开更多

To minimize iatrogenic retinal damage while maintaining therapeutic effects, retinal laser technology has evolved significantly since its introduction in ophthalmology more than half a century ago. These innovations have included both optimizations of laser parameters in addition to the development of novel laser delivery systems. This review summarizes recent innovations in retinal laser technology, including subthreshold micropulse laser, selective retinal therapy and nanosecond laser, innovative modes of laser delivery including pattern scanning laser, endpoint management, navigated laser, and newly described photo-mediated ultrasound therapy. 展开更多
