Frequency control can be achieved by employing short-and long-term storage plants buffering and complementing renewable energy sources. A representative grid consists of a natural-gas-fired plant serving as frequency leader, long-term storage plant, wind-power farm with associated short-term storage plantfor energy buffering, and photovoltaic farm with associated short-term storage plant interconnected by a long transmission line to two load circuits. Transient analysis is performed with Mathemafica solving the differential equation system for frequency variation. Powerflow through the AC transmission line is limited by its impedance. The long transmission line must be segmented to achieve stability and voltage control over an 800 km distance. The renewable plants must be operated together with the storage plants in order tominimize frequency variations by smoothing the power output of renewable plants, achieving step-wise control of the transmission-line power. Although to date only AC Iransmission lines in Germany exist, it is anticipated that within the next 10 years these will beaugmented by DC high-voltage lines.展开更多

In addition to the general signals shared by the two users, the base station will send the covert signals only to one user in a certain time without wanting the other to detect this covert communication behavior. In order to achieve covert communication, two information transmission schemes are designed based on transmission antenna selection(TAS) with the help of artificial noise(AN) transmitted by the user receiving the covert signals, denoted as TAS-Ⅰ and TAS-Ⅱ respectively. Considering the best detection performance of the user only receiving the general signals, under the two schemes, the detection error probabilities and their average values, the connection probabilities, the system covert throughputs are separately calculated. In addition, on the premise of meeting the system's covert conditions, an optimization scheme is proposed to maximize the covert system throughput. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed system can realize covert communication successfully, and the system covert performance under TAS-Ⅰ is better than that under TAS-Ⅱ.展开更多

However, the genetic characteristics of the transmitted viruses that are preferentially selected have not been fully elucidated. Here, we analyzed amino acids changes in the envelope protein during simian immunodeficiency virus(SIV)/HIV deep transmission history and current HIV evolution within the last 15–20 years. Our results confirmed that the V1V2 region of gp120 protein, particularly V1, was preferentially selected. A shorter V1 region was preferred during transmission history, while during epidemic, HIV may evolve to an expanded V1 region gradually and thus escape immune recognition. We then constructed different HIV-1 V1 mutants using different HIV-1 subtypes to elucidate the role of the V1 region in envelope function. We found that the V1 region, although highly variable, was indispensable for virus entry and infection, probably because V1 deletion mutants exhibited impaired processing of gp160 into mature gp120 and gp41. Additionally, the V1 region affected Env incorporation. These results indicated that the V1 region played a critical role in HIV transmission and infection.展开更多
