Little is known, however, about the role of different aspects of the self in this relationship. We explored the mediating role of interferences of symptom with the self-concept in the association of menstrual symptom attitudes and depressive mood. Methods: Eighty-one women completed an online survey on menstrual symptom attitudes, perceived interferences of symptoms with various self-aspects and negative mood states. We tested our hypothesis in a mediation analysis. Results: We found a complete mediation of the relationship of symptom attitudes and depressive mood by interferences of symptoms with self-aspects. However, interferences with self-aspects did not play a role in the association of anxious mood and symptom report. Conclusion: The self-concept should receive greater attention in research on symptom attitudes and psychological well-being. This would be particularly important in research on medically unexplained symptom report.展开更多

Evidence indicates that exercise leads to an enhancement in physical self-concept and physical self-esteem. Until now however, it remained unclear whether the beneficial effects of exercise were impacted by different types of exercise environments. Thus, the purpose of this study was to experimentally investigate, whether the presence or absence of an instructor or other group members influenced elder adults’ physical self-concept and esteem. Method: Participants were 46 women and 20 men (Mean age 65.4, SD = 4.36) who were randomly assigned to one of four experimental groups differing across two factors—group versus no-group and instructor versus no-instructor. Participants took part in an 8-week-walking program with a comparable number of training sessions across the four experimental groups. Physical self-concept and physical self-esteem were assessed both pre and post exercise intervention. Results: Descriptively, the highest improvement in physical self-concept and esteem were observed in the instructor/no-group and the no-instructor/group condition. Between these two conditions, no significant difference of change was observed. Moreover, no improvement was observed when both instructor and group were present. Conclusion: Effects of either instructor presence or group presence may be explained by mechanisms of social integration and social support. An unexpected absence of effects on self-concept and esteem under the instructor/group condition are explained with reference to an individual’s cognitive dissonance caused by the need to adapt to different exercise oriented goals or attitudes of the instructor and the group members which might hinder the positive development of the self.展开更多

This concept analysis will provide a theoretical lens for nurses to help cancer patients to developself-management strategies and enables them to improve their ability in symptom self-management of home-basedrehabilitation. Method: Walker and Avant’s framework (2011) was used to analyse the concept of self-management.Results: Self-management is defined as a dynamic process that involves perception of one’s needs, resource utilisation, problem solving and active participation. Antecedents of self-management include self-efficacy, disease knowledge andsocial support. Improving cancer patients’ ability in symptom self-management can improve their health outcomes andquality of life and reduce healthcare expenditures. Although Strategy and Effectiveness of Symptom Self-Managementscale is perceived as an ideal instrument to measure self-management and thus it is used worldwide, whether thisinstrument fits to measure this concept for cancer patients in Chinese context has still not yet been verified and thusfurther research is needed. Conclusion: According to the concept analysis, nurses should encourage cancer patients toinvolve actively in making a home-based rehabilitation plan and promote their ability in symptom self-management ofhome-based rehabilitation so as to improve their health outcomes and reduce healthcare expenditures.展开更多

In this study we estimated the modifying effect of the quality of object relations on the effect of solution-focused therapy (SFT) and shortand long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (SPP and LPP) on self-concept. A total of 326 patients were assessed at baseline with the Quality of Object Relations Scale (QORS) and 4 times during a 3-year follow-up with the Structural Analysis of Social Behavior self-concept questionnaire, comprising altogether 10 scores on different aspects of self-concept pathology. The effectiveness of SFT, but not SPP, was significantly poorer in several domains (5/10) of self-concept for patients with low QORS, i.e. those with less mature relational patterns, than for patients with high QORS, while the reversal occurred in some (3/10) self-concept domains in LPP. The results suggest that the quality of object relations has significance for treatment selection in therapies with different mode and length.展开更多

Treatment modalities have been advancing, and the application of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) principles provides a new approach to postoperative recovery in patients. This study aims to investigate the clinical application effects of ERAS principles in single-level lumbar spinal stenosis surgery. Methods: This study included 64 patients who underwent lumbar fusion surgery in the Spinal Surgery Department of Baise People’s Hospital from July 2022 to July 2024. These patients were divided into an experimental group (ERAS group, 33 cases) and a control group (conventional group, 31 cases) based on perioperative care, receiving ERAS principles and traditional treatment, respectively. A comparison was made between the two groups in terms of gender, age, BMI, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative length of hospital stay, postoperative complications, hospital costs, VAS scores (preoperative/postoperative day 3), and ODI scores (preoperative/postoperative day 3). Results: There were no significant differences in gender, age, and BMI between the ERAS group and the conventional group (gender: χ2 = 0.5008, P = 0.4792;age: 54.55 ± 8.51 years vs. 57.39 ± 8.16 years, P = 0.0892;BMI: 25.11 ± 2.70 vs. 24.77 ± 2.75, P = 0.3098). However, during surgery, patients in the ERAS group had significantly less blood loss than those in the conventional group (197.58 ± 195.51ml vs. 438.71 ± 349.22 ml, P = 0.0006), and the postoperative length of hospital stay was significantly shorter (7.00 ± 2.24 days vs. 11.55 ± 5.23 days, P = 0.0000). On postoperative day 3, VAS scores were significantly better in the ERAS group compared to the conventional group (3.70 ± 0.88 vs. 4.32 ± 0.87, P = 0.0031), and the ODI scores showed significant improvement as well (46.00 ± 3.04 vs. 48.00 ± 3.39, P = 0.0078). Although there were no significant differences in postoperative complications and hospital costs (complications: 3 cases vs. 0 cases, P = 0.2154;hospital costs: 63524.29 ± 17891.80 RMB vs. 58733.84 ± 13280.82 RMB, P = 0.1154), ERAS demonstrated better postoperative recovery outcomes in single-level lumbar spinal stenosis surgery. Conclusion: The study results support the implementation of ERAS principles in single-level lumbar spinal stenosis surgery to promote rapid recovery, reduce healthcare resource consumption, and improve overall patient satisfaction.展开更多

Conclusion: According to the concept analysis, nurses should encourage cancer patients toinvolve actively in making a home-based rehabilitation plan and promote their ability in symptom self-management ofhome-based rehabilitation so as to improve their health outcomes and reduce healthcare expenditures.
文摘The quality of object relations affects interpersonal behaviour, but it is not known whether it modifies effectiveness on personality functioning in psychotherapies of different mode and length. The results suggest that the quality of object relations has significance for treatment selection in therapies with different mode and length.
文摘Objectives:Effective facilitation is crucial to improve critical care outcomes in life-threatening conditions through improved teamwork,caring,decision-making,and problem-solving.The meaning of facilitation remains unprecise in a critical care context despite its frequent usage in nursing education and clinical practice. This study aimed to report a thorough concept analysis to clarify the meaning of facilitation in the critical care context by formulating attributes, antecedents, and consequences and providing model cases related to facilitation. Methods:This analysis was performed by searching online sources published from 1999 to 2023.EBSCOhost,CINAHL,PubMed,and Google Scholar databases were searched using online search engines. The analysis also included the manual search of books, thesaurus and dictionaries that showed relevance to facilitation.Walker and Avant’s eight-step approach was applied to explore and analyze the meaning of facilitation in critical care units. Results:A total of 68 articles were included in the analysis of this study.Eleven attributes, six antecedents, and seven consequences related to facilitation were formulated. The attributes included dynamic, interactive processes, creating a positive environment, mobilizing resources, assistance, studentcentered, shared goals, collaboration, engagement, participation, and feedback.Antecedents were facilitator qualities, motivation,a positive learning environment,student-facilitator relationship, time availability, and specified learning outcomes. The consequences of facilitation were identified as follows:change, professional development, competency, quality development, increased job satisfaction, staff retention, and self-confidence.Conclusions:The findings from the analysis indicated that effective facilitation results in nurses and critical care staff developing competency, caring, critical thinking, and independence. Therefore, clinical outcomes in critical care environments are improved through teamwork,decision-making,and problemsolving in life-threatening situations.

文摘Three-way concept analysis is an important tool for information processing, and rule acquisition is one of the research hotspots of three-way concept analysis. However, compared with three-way concept lattices,three-way semi-concept lattices have three-way operators with weaker constraints, which can generate more concepts. In this article, the problem of rule acquisition for three-way semi-concept lattices is discussed in general. The authors construct the finer relation of three-way semi-concept lattices, and propose a method of rule acquisition for three-way semi-concept lattices. The authors also discuss the set of decision rules and the relationships of decision rules among object-induced three-way semi-concept lattices,object-induced three-way concept lattices, classical concept lattices and semi-concept lattices. Finally, examples are provided to illustrate the validity of our conclusions.

The screw placement inaccuracy score of the robot group was lower than that of the conventional C-arm group (0.17 ± 0.51 VS 1.45 ± 1.46, P = 0.0000*). Conclusion: The combination of the concept of accelerated rehabilitation and Tianji Orthopedic robot-assisted surgery is more effective and safer in posterior lumbar decompression and internal fixation surgery with a screw rod system, and is worthy of promotion and application.
文摘Health literacy(HL)is an effective approach for improved health status and measures the capacity of individuals to engage in health promotion and disease prevention activities as low HL constitutes a global problem in health-care delivery.Nurses play a significant role in providing adequate information to the client and as such it becomes imperative for them to understand the concept of HL.Clinical approach of HL refers to ability to utilize literacy skills in relation to appointments, prescriptions, and instructions for self-management.Public health approach presents HL as means of empowering individuals to take control of their health and factors that influences health.HL is a hierarchy of skills that can be assessed and managed through health education and effective communication.Nurses’understanding of the concept of HL and strategies to reduce HL demands is crucial to delivery of effective nursing practice. This review will provide a clear understanding of the concept of HL which is essential for nurses to effectively educate patients and provide holistic care.More so,nurses will be able to assess literacy level of the patients, plan and develop better educational program tailored to patients’level of literacy. This could invariably improve patients’comprehension and adherence to treatment plans and overall health outcomes.
文摘This article reviews the psychological and neuroscience achievements in concept learning since 2010 from the perspectives of individual learning and social learning, and discusses several issues related to concept learning, including the assistance of machine learning about concept learning. In terms of individual learning, current evidence shows that the brain tends to process concrete concepts through typical features(shared features);and for abstract concepts, semantic processing is the most important cognitive way.In terms of social learning, interpersonal neural synchrony(INS)is considered the main indicator of efficient knowledge transfer(such as teaching activities between teachers and students),but this phenomenon only broadens the channels for concept sources and does not change the basic mode of individual concept learning.Ultimately, this article argues that the way the human brain processes concepts depends on the concept’s own characteristics,so there are no“better”strategies in teaching, only more“suitable”strategies.

文摘Objective: With the aging population and changes in lifestyle, lumbar spinal stenosis has become a common spinal disorder. Conclusion: The study results support the implementation of ERAS principles in single-level lumbar spinal stenosis surgery to promote rapid recovery, reduce healthcare resource consumption, and improve overall patient satisfaction.
