Resilient performance of self-centering hybrid rocking walls with curved interface under pseudo-static loading

Frame and rocking wall(FRW)structures have excellent resilient performance during earthquakes.However,the concrete at interfacial corners of rocking walls(RWs)is easily crushed due to local extreme compression during the rocking process.An innovative RW with a curved interface is proposed to prevent interfacial corners from producing local damage,enhancing its earthquake resilient performance(ERP).The precast wall panel with a curved interface is assembled into an integral self-centering hybrid rocking wall(SCRW)by two post-tensioned unbonded prestressed tendons.Moreover,two ordinary energy dissipation steel rebars and two shear reinforcements are arranged to increase the energy dissipation capacity and lateral resistance.Two SCRW specimens and one monolithic reinforced concrete(RC)shear wall(SW)were tested under pseudo-static loading to compare the ERPs of the proposed SCRW and the SW,focusing on studying the effect of the curved interface on the SCRW.The key resilient performance of rocking effects,failure modes,and hysteretic properties of the SCRW were explored.The results show that nonlinear deformations of the SCRW are concentrated along the interface between the SCRW and the foundation,avoiding damage within the SCRW.The restoring force provided by the prestressed tendons can effectively realize self-centering capacity with small residual deformation,and the resilient performance of the SCRW is better than that of monolithic SW.In addition,the curved interface of the SCRW makes the rocking center change and move inward,partially relieving the stress concentration and crush of concrete.The rocking range of the rocking center is about 41.4%of the width of the SCRW. 展开更多

This paper proposes the novel concept of retrofitting damaged reinforced concrete frame with self-centering and energy-dissipating rocking wall.Parametric studies were carried out base on pushover and time-history analysis.In both pushover and time-history analysis,the soft-story mechanism was effectively mitigated through the rocking wall retrofit of the damaged structures.The results demonstrated that the stiffness and bearing capacity of the retrofitted system were improved compare to its intact state.Additionally,the seismic response of the damaged frame retrofitted using rocking wall in combination with post-tension and shear-type damper fell within the relevant design limits.Pushover analysis of the rocking wall indicated that there is a linear relationship between the wall thickness and the initial stiffness of the retrofitted system.The addition of post-tension tendon to the rocking wall system enables the wall to self-center and increases lateral stiffness and bearing capacity of the retrofitted system.When the shear-type damper was installed,the energy dissipation of the system was increased,and the stiffness and bearing capacity of the retrofitted system were also improved.In the time-history analysis,it was found that the thickness of the rocking wall is directly related to the maximum inter-story drift and the distribution patterns of inter-story drift of the frame.As the post-tension was added to the system,the maximum inter-story drift under rare earthquake excitation improved significantly.With the addition of shear-type dampers,the overall drift magnitude of the retrofitted system was fundamentally decreased. 展开更多

In seismology and earthquake engineering,it is fundamental to identify and characterize the pulse-like features in pulse-type ground motions.To capture the pulses that dominate structural responses,this study establishes congruence and shift relationships between response spectrum surfaces.A similarity search between spectrum surfaces,supplemented with a similarity search in time series,has been applied to characterize the pulse-like features in pulse-type ground motions.The identified pulses are tested in predicting the rocking consequences of slender rectangular blocks under the original ground motions.Generally,the prediction is promising for the majority of the ground motions where the dominant pulse is correctly identified. 展开更多

Understanding the mechanical properties of the lithologies is crucial to accurately determine the horizontal stress magnitude.To investigate the correlation between the rock mass properties and maximum horizontal stress,the three-dimensional(3D)stress tensors at 89 measuring points determined using an improved overcoring technique in nine mines in China were adopted,a newly defined characteristic parameter C_(ERP)was proposed as an indicator for evaluating the structural properties of rock masses,and a fuzzy relation matrix was established using the information distribution method.The results indicate that both the vertical stress and horizontal stress exhibit a good linear growth relationship with depth.There is no remarkable correlation between the elastic modulus,Poisson's ratio and depth,and the distribution of data points is scattered and messy.Moreover,there is no obvious relationship between the rock quality designation(RQD)and depth.The maximum horizontal stress σ_(H) is a function of rock properties,showing a certain linear relationship with the C_(ERP)at the same depth.In addition,the overall change trend of σ_(H) determined by the established fuzzy identification method is to increase with the increase of C_(ERP).The fuzzy identification method also demonstrates a relatively detailed local relationship betweenσ_H and C_(ERP),and the predicted curve rises in a fluctuating way,which is in accord well with the measured stress data. 展开更多

目的:观察化瘀通络灸对血管性痴呆大鼠Ras同源物基因组成员A(Ras homolog gene family member A,RhoA)/Rho激酶(Rho associated protein kinase, ROCK)轴突生长抑制性信号通路相关蛋白的影响,探讨其治疗血管性痴呆的机制。方法:使用Mor... 目的:观察化瘀通络灸对血管性痴呆大鼠Ras同源物基因组成员A(Ras homolog gene family member A,RhoA)/Rho激酶(Rho associated protein kinase, ROCK)轴突生长抑制性信号通路相关蛋白的影响,探讨其治疗血管性痴呆的机制。方法:使用Morris水迷宫筛除贴壁、原地旋转或溺水的Wistar大鼠,将符合条件大鼠分为假手术组、造模组。假手术组暴露大鼠颈总动脉;造模组用改良的双侧颈总动脉永久结扎术制备血管性痴呆大鼠模型,术后3 d用水迷宫对大鼠进行模型鉴定,将合格者随机分为模型组、艾灸组和西药组。于鉴定次日对大鼠进行治疗,艾灸组悬灸百会、大椎、神庭,20 min/次,1次/d, 1周为1疗程,2个疗程间休息1 d,共3个疗程;西药组用吡拉西坦溶液灌胃,2次/d;假手术组、模型组行灸架固定。治疗结束,取大鼠脑组织,用免疫荧光单染法、蛋白免疫印迹法检测其脑内目的蛋白RhoA、Rho相关螺旋卷曲蛋白激酶Ⅱ(Rho protein-related curl spiral kinase-Ⅱ,ROCKⅡ)、肌球蛋白轻链磷酸化(Phosphorylation of myosin light chain, P-MLC)的阳性表达。结果:模型组大鼠海马、皮质RhoA、ROCKⅡ、P-MLC蛋白表达高于假手术组(P<0.01);艾灸组、西药组海马和皮质RhoA、ROCKⅡ、P-MLC蛋白表达较模型组低(P<0.05);艾灸组皮质ROCKⅡ蛋白表达较西药组稍低(P<0.05);艾灸组与西药组海马ROCKⅡ、海马与皮质RhoA、P-MLC蛋白表达差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:化瘀通络灸可能是通过下调RhoA/ROCK轴突生长抑制性信号通路相关蛋白的表达提高血管性痴呆大鼠的记忆力,从而发挥治疗血管性痴呆的作用。 展开更多

Aluminum foam as buffer layer used in soft rock tunnel with large deformation

The squeezing deformation of surrounding rock is an important factor restricting the safe construction and long-term operation of tunnels when a tunnel passes through soft strata with high ground stress.Under such soft rock geological conditions,the large deformation of the surrounding rock can easily lead to the failure of supporting structures,including shotcrete cracks,spalling,and steel arch distortion.To improve the lining support performance during the large deformation of squeezed surrounding rock,this work selects aluminum foam with densities of 0.25 g/cm3,0.42 g/cm3 and 0.61 g/cm3 as the buffer layer material and carries out uniaxial confined compression tests.Through the evaluation and analysis of energy absorption and the comparison of the yield pressure of aluminum foam with those of other cushioning materials and yield pressure support systems,the strength,deformation and energy absorption of aluminum foam with a density of 0.25 g/cm3 meet the yield pressure performance requirements.The numerical model of the buffer layer yielding support system is then established via the finite element analysis software ABAQUS,and the influence of the buffer layer setting on the lining support is analyzed.Compared with the conventional support scheme,the addition of an aluminum foam buffer layer can reduce the stress and deformation of the primary support and secondary lining.The maximum and minimum principal stresses of the primary support are reduced by 13%and 15%,respectively.The maximum and minimum principal stresses of the secondary lining are reduced by 15%and 12%,respectively,and the displacement deformation of the secondary lining position is reduced by 15%.In summary,the application of aluminum foam buffer layer can reduce the stress and deformation of the primary support and secondary lining,improve the stress safety of the support and reduce the deformation of the support. 展开更多

Effect of surface crack on the bearing capacity of strip footing placed on rock mass

In hilly regions,the existence of surface cracks in rock mass induces a potential threat to structural stability.Thus,the present research aims to explore the impact of surface cracks on the loadbearing capacity of strip footing placed on the rock mass.By taking into account the various boundary constraints across the surface of crack edges,the study investigates the presence of two categories of surface cracks,namely(1)separated crack,and(2)fine crack.The lower bound limit analysis is employed in conjunction with the finite element method(LBFELA)to conduct the numerical analysis.In order to evaluate rock mass yielding,the power conic programming(PCP)method is utilized to implement the generalized Hoek-Brown(GHB)failure criterion.The stability of the strip footing is analyzed by determining the bearing capacity factor(Nσγ),which is presented in the form of design charts by varying the strength parameters of rock,including the Geological Strength Index(GSI),Hoek-Brown material parameter(mi),Disturbance factor(D),and Normalised Uniaxial Compressive Strength(σci/γB),whereγis the unit weight of rock mass,and B is the width of strip footing.The study also investigates the impact of cracks on strip footings,considering different positions of the crack(LC)and depths of the crack(DC).The results demonstrate that the influence of the fine crack is only noticeable until the LC/B ratio reaches 6.However,for the separated crack,its impact remains significant even when the LC/B ratio exceeds 16.The appearance of fine crack at the edge of the footing results in a decrease in the magnitude Nσγof up to 45%,indicating a substantial reduction in the stability of the footing.The failure patterns are presented and discussed in detail for various cases in this study to examine the effect of surface cracks on the strip footing and to address the extent of the plastic collapse. 展开更多

First, the method to compute... In this study, sacrificial components were incorporated into self-centering railway bridge piers to improve the lateral stiffness. The seismic response of this new detail was investigated. First, the method to compute the initial uplift moment of the self-centering pier is given. In addition, shaking table tests were conducted on a free-rocking pier without sacrificial components, which was used to validate a two-spring numerical model. Good agreement was obtained between the numerical results and experimental data. Furthermore, the validated model was employed to investigate the influence of sacrificial components on the seismic response of rocking piers. For this purpose, two models were developed, with and without sacrificial components. Nonlinear response history analysis was then performed on both models under three historical motions. The results showed that compared to the one without sacrificial components, the rocking pier with sacrificial components has comparable displacement at the top of the pier, and maximum uplift moment at high amplitude motion. Therefore, incorporating sacrificial components into the rocking pier can increase the lateral stiffness at service load and low amplitude frequent earthquakes but can produce comparable response at high seismic excitation. These results provide support for performance-based seismic design of self-centering rocking piers. 展开更多

A controlled rocking concentrically steel braced frame(CR-CSBF)is introduced as an alternative to conventional methods to prevent major structural damage during large earthquakes.It is equipped with elastic post-tensioned(PT)cables and replaceable devices or fuses to provide overturning resistance and dissipate energy,respectively.Although CR-CSBFs are not officially legalized in globally valid codes for new buildings,it is expected to be presented in them in the near future.The main goal of this study is to determine the optimal design parameters consist of the yield strength and modulus of elasticity of the fuse,the initial force of the PT cable,and the gravity load on the rocking column,considering different heights of the frame,spanning ratios and ground motion types for dual-configuration CR-CSBF.Nonlinear time-history analyses are performed in OpenSees.This study aims to define the optimal input variables as effective design parameters of CR-CSBFs by comparing four seismic responses consisting of story drift,roof displacement,roof acceleration and base shear,and also using the Euclidean metric optimization method.Despite the previous research,this study is innovative and first of its kind.The results demonstrate that the optimal design parameters are variable for various conditions. 展开更多

目的检测lncRNA SLC9A3-AS1在肾透明细胞癌(clear cell renal cell carcinoma,ccRCC)组织与肾癌细胞中的表达水平,探讨其促进肾癌细胞恶性生物学行为的机制。方法应用GEPIA2在线软件(http://gepia2.cancer-pku.cn/)分析TCGA数据库中SLC9... 目的检测lncRNA SLC9A3-AS1在肾透明细胞癌(clear cell renal cell carcinoma,ccRCC)组织与肾癌细胞中的表达水平,探讨其促进肾癌细胞恶性生物学行为的机制。方法应用GEPIA2在线软件(http://gepia2.cancer-pku.cn/)分析TCGA数据库中SLC9A3-AS1在ccRCC组织中的表达水平;采用实时荧光定量聚合酶链反应(qRT-PCR)检测SLC9A3-AS1在不同肾癌细胞系、24例ccRCC组织与癌旁正常肾脏组织中的表达水平;应用细胞增殖/毒性检测试剂盒(cell counting kit-8,CCK-8)和Transwell小室迁移实验检测敲低SLC9A3-AS1表达对肾癌细胞增殖与迁移的影响;应用蛋白质免疫印迹法检测增殖与迁移相关信号通路蛋白的表达水平;采用双荧光素酶报告基因实验验证SLC9A3-AS1与miR-148a-3p/ROCK1轴的靶向调控关系。结果GEPIA2软件分析结果显示,相较正常肾脏组织,SLC9A3-AS1在肾透明细胞癌组织中表达显著上调(P<0.01)。qRT-PCR结果显示,相较癌旁正常肾脏组织,SLC9A3-AS1在24例ccRCC组织中表达显著上调(P<0.01);相较永生化肾小管上皮细胞,SLC9A3-AS1在4种肾癌细胞系中表达均显著上调,以786-O细胞最为显著(P<0.01)。干扰SLC9A3-AS1表达,可显著抑制786-O细胞的增殖与迁移能力,上调E-cadherin的蛋白表达水平,而下调N-cadherin、MMP2的蛋白表达水平(均P<0.05);过表达miR-148a-3p可显著抑制786-O细胞的增殖与迁移能力(P<0.01)。双荧光素酶报告基因检测结果表明,SLC9A3-AS1可特异性结合miR-148a-3p,后者进一步靶向结合ROCK1 mRNA的3′UTR区域;过表达miR-148a-3p可明显下调ROCK1 mRNA的表达水平,敲低miR-148a-3p表达则产生相反的效应;敲低SLC9A3-AS1表达可显著下调786-O细胞中ROCK1 mRNA与蛋白的表达水平(P<0.01);下调miR-148a-3p表达可部分逆转SLC9A3-AS1沉默对786-O细胞增殖与迁移的抑制作用(P<0.05)。结论SLC9A3-AS1在ccRCC中通过调控miR-148a-3p/ROCK1轴发挥促癌作用,有望成为ccRCC的一个新的分子标志物。 展开更多

【目的】观察益母草碱对乙型肝炎大鼠的治疗作用及机制。【方法】将60只大鼠随机分为6组,即正常组,模型组,益母草碱低、中、高剂量组,益母草碱高剂量+溶血磷脂酸(LPA)组。除正常组外,其余各组大鼠构建乙型肝炎病毒(HBV)感染模型。造模... 【目的】观察益母草碱对乙型肝炎大鼠的治疗作用及机制。【方法】将60只大鼠随机分为6组,即正常组,模型组,益母草碱低、中、高剂量组,益母草碱高剂量+溶血磷脂酸(LPA)组。除正常组外,其余各组大鼠构建乙型肝炎病毒(HBV)感染模型。造模成功后,各组对应干预。干预结束后,采用酶联免疫吸附分析(ELISA)检测血清乙型肝炎e抗原(HBeAg)、乙型肝炎表面抗原(HBsAg)及炎症因子白细胞介素(IL)-10、IL-6、肿瘤坏死因子α(TNF-α)水平,自动分析仪测定血清丙氨酸氨基转移酶(ALT)、天门冬氨酸氨基转移酶(AST)水平,实时定量聚合酶链反应(RT-qPCR)法检测肝组织HBV DNA水平,苏木素-伊红(HE)染色法观察肝组织病理变化,免疫组织化学法检测肝组织乙型肝炎核心抗原(HBcAg)表达水平,Western Blot法检测肝组织Ras同源基因家族成员A(RhoA)、Rho相关卷曲螺旋蛋白激酶(ROCK)1、ROCK2表达水平。【结果】与正常组比较,模型组大鼠肝小叶中心坏死,肝细胞水肿、变性,HBsAg、HBeAg、HBV DNA水平,HBcAg阳性细胞数,ALT、AST水平,IL-6、TNF-α、IL-10含量,RhoA、ROCK1、ROCK2表达水平均显著升高(均P<0.05);与模型组比较,益母草碱低、中、高剂量组大鼠肝损伤程度降低,肝细胞变性减轻,HBsAg、HBeAg、HBV DNA水平,HBcAg阳性细胞数,ALT、AST水平,IL-6、TNF-α含量,RhoA、ROCK1、ROCK2表达水平均显著降低,IL-10含量升高,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);与益母草碱高剂量组比较,益母草碱高剂量+LPA组肝损伤程度加重,HBsAg、HBeAg、HBV DNA水平,HBcAg阳性细胞数,ALT、AST水平,IL-6、TNF-α含量,RhoA、ROCK1、ROCK2表达水平升高,IL-10含量降低,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05)。【结论】益母草碱能减轻乙型肝炎大鼠肝组织损伤,改善肝功能,减少炎症反应,其机制与抑制RhoA/ROCK通路有关。 展开更多

[目的]研究桃叶珊瑚苷(AU)对胶质母细胞瘤(GBM)细胞活力和上皮间质转化(EMT)的影响,并对其作用机制进行探讨。[方法]将U87细胞随机分为对照组、AU低浓度组、AU中浓度组、AU高浓度组、Y-27632组、AU高浓度+Y-27632组。细胞计数器试剂盒(CCK-8)法检测细胞活力,流式细胞术检测细胞凋亡,Transwell小室实验检测细胞迁移和侵袭,蛋白免疫印迹法(Western Blot)检测基质金属蛋白酶(MMP)2、MMP9、波形蛋白(Vimentin)、上皮钙黏蛋白(E-cadherin)、神经钙黏蛋白(N-cadherin)、Ras同源基因家族成员A(RhoA)、Rho相关卷曲螺旋蛋白激酶(ROCK)1、ROCK2表达。构建GBM裸鼠模型,随机分为裸鼠对照组、AU组、Y-27632组、AU+Y-27632组,测量肿瘤质量与体积,免疫组化法检测移植瘤组织RhoA、ROCK1、ROCK2蛋白表达。[结果]GBM细胞活力随着AU浓度的升高而逐渐降低(P<0.05),选择U87作为后续实验细胞,选择10、25、50μmol/L浓度作为AU后续实验浓度。与对照组比较,AU低、中、高浓度组和Y-27632组细胞活力、迁移和侵袭细胞数、MMP2、MMP9、N-cadherin、Vimentin、RhoA、ROCK1、ROCK2表达显著下降,凋亡率、E-cadherin表达显著升高(P<0.05),其中高浓度AU和Y-27632组共同处理的细胞变化更显著(P<0.05)。AU和Y-27632均能抑制移植瘤质量和体积,降低RhoA/ROCK信号通路蛋白表达(P<0.05)。[结论]AU能抑制GBM细胞活力、迁移侵袭和EMT,促进细胞凋亡,其作用机制可能与抑制RhoA/ROCK信号通路有关。 展开更多

A new type of beam-to-column connection for steel moment flames, designated as a "self-centering connection," is studied. In this connection, bolted top-and-seat angles, and post-tensioned (PT) high-strength steel strands running along the beam are used. The PT strands tie the beam flanges on the column flange to resist moment and provide self-centering force. After an earthquake, the connections have zero deformation, and can be restored to their original status by simply replacing the angles. Four full-scale connections were tested under cyclic loading. The strength, energy-dissipation capacity, hysteresis curve, as well as angles and PT strands behavior of the connections are investigated. A general FEM analysis program called ABAQUS 6.9 is adopted to model the four test specimens. The numerical and test results match very well. Both the test and analysis results suggest that: (1) the columns and beams remain elastic while the angles sustain plastic deformations for energy dissipation when the rotation of the beam related to the column equals 0.05 tad, (2) the energy dissipation capacity is enhanced when the thickness of the angle is increased, and (3) the number of PT strands has a significant influence on the behavior of the connections, whereas the distance between the strands is not as important to the performance of the connection. 展开更多

目的探讨芍药苷调节Ras同源基因家族蛋白A(RhoA)/Rho相关卷曲螺旋形成蛋白激酶(ROCK)信号通路对实验性自身免疫性葡萄膜炎(experimental autoimmune uveitis,EAU)小鼠辅助性T淋巴细胞17(Th17)/调节性T细胞(Treg)免疫平衡的影响。方法随... 目的探讨芍药苷调节Ras同源基因家族蛋白A(RhoA)/Rho相关卷曲螺旋形成蛋白激酶(ROCK)信号通路对实验性自身免疫性葡萄膜炎(experimental autoimmune uveitis,EAU)小鼠辅助性T淋巴细胞17(Th17)/调节性T细胞(Treg)免疫平衡的影响。方法随机选出10只小鼠作为正常对照组,其余小鼠构建EAU模型,将造模成功小鼠随机平分为模型组、芍药苷组(10 mg·kg^(-1)芍药苷)、RhoA/ROCK信号通路激活剂溶血磷脂酸(LPA)组(25μmol·L^(-1)LPA)、芍药苷+LPA组(10 mg·kg^(-1)芍药苷+25μmol·L^(-1)LPA),每组10只。模型组和正常对照组给予等量生理盐水,给药每天1次,持续14 d。眼前节临床表现评分评估炎症严重程度;HE染色观察眼球组织病理形态;ELISA法检测血清中炎性因子转化生长因子-β(trarsforming growth factor beta,TGF-β)、白细胞介素10(IL-10)、白细胞介素17(IL-17)、白细胞介素23(IL-23)水平;流式细胞术检测脾脏Th17/Treg细胞水平;Western Blot法检测维甲酸相关核孤儿受体γt(RORγt)、叉头状转录因子3(Foxp3)以及RhoA/ROCK信号通路蛋白表达。结果正常对照组小鼠无虹膜、结膜血管舒张充血,与正常对照组比,模型组小鼠出现虹膜血管舒张充血,前房、虹膜、睫状体和视网膜内均有大量炎性细胞膨胀,眼前节临床表现评分、IL-17和IL-23含量、Th17细胞水平、Th17/Treg、RORγt、RhoA、ROCK1蛋白水平明显升高(P<0.05),IL-10和TGF-β含量、Treg细胞水平、Foxp3水平明显下降(P<0.05)。与模型组比,芍药苷组小鼠虹膜血管充血症状明显缓解,眼前节临床表现评分、IL-17和IL-23含量、Th17细胞水平、Th17/Treg、RORγt、RhoA、ROCK1蛋白水平明显降低(P<0.05),IL-10和TGF-β含量、Treg细胞水平、Foxp3水平明显升高(P<0.05);而LPA加重了眼部损伤(P<0.05),逆转了芍药苷对EAU小鼠的改善效果(P<0.05)。结论芍药苷可通过下调RhoA/ROCK信号通路调节EAU小鼠Th17/Treg免疫平衡减轻EAU小鼠葡萄膜炎。 展开更多

Cross-laminated bamboo(CLB)have a high strength to weight ratio and stable bidirectional mechanical properties.Inspired by the investigation on cross-laminated timber(CLT)rocking walls,CLB rocking walls with conventional friction dampers(CFDs)are studied in this paper.To investigate the mechanical properties of the CLB rocking wall,seven tests are conducted under a cyclic loading scheme,and different test parameters,including the existence of the CFDs,the moment ratio,and the loading times,are discussed.The test results show a bilinear behavior of the CLB rocking wall.The small residual displacements of the CLB rocking wall demonstrate an idealized self-centering capacity.The cumulative energy dissipation curves indicate that the energy dissipation capacity of the CLB rocking wall can be greatly improved with CFDs.The limit states of the CLB rocking wall under a lateral force are proposed based on the strains,stress,and damage level of the CLB material and posttensioned rebar.In addition,an analytical model of the CLB rocking wall is developed based on the proposed limit states of the CLB rocking wall to evaluate the hysteretic response of the CLB rocking wall,and the model is validated by the experimental data.The comparison results show the potential value of the analytical model for engineering design. 展开更多

Earthquake investigations have illustrated that even code-compliant reinforced concrete frames may suffer from soft-story mechanism.This damage mode results in poor ductility and limited energy dissipation.Continuous components offer alternatives that may avoid such failures.A novel infilled rocking wall frame system is proposed that takes advantage of continuous component and rocking characteristics.Previous studies have investigated similar systems that combine a reinforced concrete frame and a wall with rocking behavior used.However,a large-scale experimental study of a reinforced concrete frame combined with a rocking wall has not been reported.In this study,a seismic performance evaluation of the newly proposed infilled rocking wall frame structure was conducted through quasi-static cyclic testing.Critical joints were designed and verified.Numerical models were established and calibrated to estimate frame shear forces.The results evaluation demonstrate that an infilled rocking wall frame can effectively avoid soft-story mechanisms.Capacity and initial stiffness are greatly improved and self-centering behavior is achieved with the help of the infilled rocking wall.Drift distribution becomes more uniform with height.Concrete cracks and damage occurs in desired areas.The infilled rocking wall frame offers a promising approach to achieving seismic resilience. 展开更多

Numerical studies have been conducted for low- and medium-rise rocking structures to investigate their efficiency as earthquake-resisting systems in comparison with conventional structures. Several non-linear time-history analyses have been performed to evaluate seismic performance of selected cases at desired ground shaking levels, based on key parameters such as total and flexural story drifts and residual deformations. The Far-field record set is selected as input ground motions and median peak values of key parameters are taken as best estimates of system response. In addition, in order to evaluate the probability of exceeding relevant damage states, analytical fragility curves have been developed based on the results of the incremental dynamic analysis procedure. Small exceedance probabilities and acceptable margins against collapse, together with minor associated damages in main structural members, can be considered as superior seismic performance for medium-rise rocking systems. Low-rise rocking systems could provide significant performance improvement over their conventional counterparts notwithstanding certain weaknesses in their seismic response. 展开更多
