Tests were carried out on 8 self-compacting reinforced concrete(SCC) beams and 4 normal reinforced concrete beams. The effects of mode of consolidation, load level, reinforcing ratio and structural type on long term behavior of SCC were investigated. Under the same environmental conditions, the shrinkage-time curve of self-compacting concrete beam is very similar to that of normal concrete beam. For both self-compacting reinforced concrete beams and normal reinforced concrete beams, the rate of shrinkage at early stages is higher, the shrinkage strain at 2 months is about 60% of the maximum value at one year. The shrinkage strain of self-compacting reinforced concrete beam after one year is about 450×10-6. Creep deflection of self-compacting reinforced concrete beam decreases as the tensile reinforcing ratio increases. The deflection creep coefficient of self-compacting reinforced concrete beam after one and a half year is about 1.6,which is very close to that of normal reinforced concrete beams cast with vibration. Extra cautions considering shrinkage and creep behavior are not needed for the use of SCC in engineering practices. 展开更多

Based on the investigation of fiber influence on workability of self-compacting concrete (SCC), tests were carried out on two series of SCC rectangular simply supported beams, which were made of hooked steel fibers reinforced concrete with or without stirrups, subjected to four-point symmetrically placed vertical loads. The major test variables are steel fiber contents and stirrup ratios. The results indicate that the ultimate load significantly increases with the increase of fiber content; the addition of ... 展开更多

This paper is devoted to investigate experimentally the strength evaluation of normal strength and self-compacting reinforced concrete beams under the effect of impact. The experimental work includes investigating of eight (180×250×1,200 ram) beam specimens. Three variables are adopted in this paper: tensile reinforcement ratio, type of concrete (NSC (normal strength concrete) or SCC (self-compacting concrete)) and height of falling (dropped) ball (1 m or 2 m). The experimental results indicated that the number of blows increased with increasing of tensile reinforcement ratio and compressive strength by about 35% and 123%, respectively. Maximum mid-span deflection was increased with increasing falling height and decreased with increasing reinforcement ration and concrete compressive strength. The increasing of concrete compressive strength is more effective than increasing of the reinforcement ratio, it appeared that the percentage of increasing exceeds 50%. The ultimate strength is decreased with increasing the falling height for about 34%-44%. 展开更多

In order to study the performances of high-strength concrete beams including steel fibers and large-particle recycled aggregates, four different beams have been designed, tested experimentally and simulated numerically. As varying parameters, the replacement rates of recycled coarse aggregates and CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced polymer)sheets have been considered. The failure mode of these beams, related load deflection curves, stirrup strain and shear capacity have been determined through monotonic loading tests. The simulations have been conducted using the ABAQUS finite element software. The results show that the shear failure mode of recycled concrete beams is similar to that of ordinary concrete beams. The shear carrying capacity of high-strength concrete beams including steel fibers and large-particle recycled coarse aggregates grows with an increase in the replacement rate of recycled coarse aggregates.Reinforcement with CFRP sheets can significantly improve the beam’s shear carrying capacity and overall resistance to deformation. 展开更多

This study evaluated Life-Cycle Assessment(LCA)of two different designs of high-performance concrete beam:(1)a single-layer beam(SLB)that consisted of steelfibered high-strength concrete in both the compression and tensile zones and(2)a two-layer beam(TLB)that consisted of steelfibered high-strength concrete and normal-strength concrete in the compression and tensile zones, respectively. The SLB and steelfibered high-strength concrete layer of the TLB were of the same concrete class C70/85.LCAs of the SLB and TLB were conducted using the ReCiPe2016 mid-point and endpoint-single-score methods. The difference between the two endpoint-single-score results was evaluated using a two-stage nested analysis of variance. The ReCiPe2016 midpoint results showed that replacing the SLB with the TLB reduces the environmental impact of global warming potential, terrestrial ecotoxicity, water consumption, and scarcity of fossil resources by 15%,17%,11%,and 17%,respec-tively.The ReCiPe2016 endpoint-single-score results showed that the environmental damage from the TLB compared to the SLB was statistically reduced(p=0.0256).Therefore,considering two different designs of steelfibered high-strength concrete beams, the TLB design was found environmentally preferable to SLB design on both, midpoint and endpoint-single-score evaluations. 展开更多

While modem prestressed techniques have improved the torsion properties of high-strength concrete (HSC) composite beams with prestressed steel (PS) boxes, no research has been reported in either the national or international literature on the an- ti-torque and composite torque properties of this type of beam. With the aim of understanding the torque properties of these beams, this paper presents results of ten comprehensive tests; three of these were based on stirrup spacings and prestressing levels as the main parameters, while the other seven were based on torsional rates. The torsion tests were conducted on the re- sults which established several key parameters, including curves of constant torsion, strain curves of steel torsion, strain distri- bution of steel beams and concrete, curves of bending-moment and mid-span deflection, as well as cross strain distribution. The prestressing impact-factor method was adopted to deduce semiempirical equations for cracking torque in such composite beams. Furthermore, this involves the use of the equation of ultimate torque based on tress-model-theory of the distortion an- gle, the calculated results show good agreement with the measured values. In summary, this paper offers theoretical analysis for future applications of HSC composite beams with PS boxes, and provides both validation of the methods employed and a reference point for on-going research on composite beams and related anti-torque studies. 展开更多
