Application examples include continuous monitoring of environment, building infrastructures and human health. Many researchers view the sensor networks as databases, and the monitoring tasks are performed as subscriptions, queries, and alert. However, this point is not precise. First, databases can only deal with well-formed data types, with well-defined schema for their interpretation, while the raw data collected by the sensor networks, in most cases, do not fit to this requirement. Second, sensor networks have to deal with very dynamic targets, environment and resources, while databases are more static. In order to fill this gap between sensor networks and databases, we propose a novel approach, referred to as 'spatiotemporal data stream segmentation', or 'stream segmentation' for short, to address the dynamic nature and deal with 'raw' data of sensor networks. Stream segmentation is defined using Bayesian Networks in the context of sensor networks, and two application examples are given to demonstrate the usefulness of the approach.展开更多

Energy consumption and transmission delay is crucial requirement to be handled to enhance the popularity of WSNs. In order to overcome these issues, we have proposed an Efficient Packet Scheduling Technique for Data Merging in WSNs. Packet scheduling is done by using three levels of priority queue and to reduce the transmission delay. Real-time data packets are placed in high priority queue and Non real-time data packets based on local or remote data are placed on other queues. In this paper, we have used Time Division Multiple Access(TDMA) scheme to efficiently determine the priority of the packet at each level and transmit the data packets from lower level to higher level through intermediate nodes. To reduce the number of transmission, efficient data merge technique is used to merge the data packet in intermediate nodes which has same destination node. Data merge utilize the maximum packet size by appending the merged packets with received packets till the maximum packet size or maximum waiting time is reached. Real-time data packets are directly forwarded to the next node without applying data merge. The performance is evaluated under various metrics like packet delivery ratio, packet drop, energy consumption and delay based on changing the number of nodes and transmission rate. Our results show significant reduction in various performance metrics.展开更多

It is our design goal to efficiently utilize the energy of each sensor node to extend its lifetime, so as to prolong the lifetime of the whole WSN. In this paper, we propose a path-based data aggregation scheme (PBDAS) for grid-based wireless sensor networks. In order to extend the lifetime of a WSN, we construct a grid infrastructure by partitioning the whole sensor field into a grid of cells. Each cell has a head responsible for aggregating its own data with the data sensed by the others in the same cell and then transmitting out. In order to efficiently and rapidly transmit the data to the base station (BS), we link each cell head to form a chain. Each cell head on the chain takes turn becoming the chain leader responsible for transmitting data to the BS. Aggregated data moves from head to head along the chain, and finally the chain leader transmits to the BS. In PBDAS, only the cell heads need to transmit data toward the BS. Therefore, the data transmissions to the BS substantially decrease. Besides, the cell heads and chain leader are designated in turn according to the energy level so that the energy depletion of nodes is evenly distributed. Simulation results show that the proposed PBDAS extends the lifetime of sensor nodes, so as to make the lifetime of the whole network longer.展开更多

Nevertheless, its randomness and density usually result in difficult implementations, high computation complexity and large storage spaces in practical settings. So the deterministic sparse sensing matrices are desired in some situations. However,it is difficult to guarantee the performance of deterministic sensing matrix by the acknowledged metrics. In this paper, we construct a class of deterministic sparse sensing matrices with statistical versions of restricted isometry property(St RIP) via regular low density parity check(RLDPC) matrices. Therefore, it is necessary to effectively estimate the missing data. A double weighted least squares support vector machines (DWLS-SVM) model for the missing data estimation in wireless sensor networks is proposed in this paper. The algo- rithm first applies the weighted LS-SVM (WLS-SVM) to estimate the missing data on temporal do- main and spatial domain respectively, and then uses the weighted average of these two candidates as the final estimated value. DWLS-SVM considers the possibility of outliers in the dataset and utilizes spatio-temporal dependencies among sensor nodes fully, which makes the estimate more robust and precise. Experimental results on real world dataset demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is outli- er robust and can estimate the missing values accurately.展开更多

Experimental results verify that the constructed sensing matrices have better reconstruction performance, compared to the Gaussian, Bernoulli, and CSLDPC matrices. And we also verify that the data gathering via RLDPC matrix can reduce energy consumption of WSNs.
文摘Recently, the application of Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)has been increasing rapidly. It requires privacy preserving data aggregation protocols to secure the data from compromises.Preserving privacy of the sensor data is a challenging task. This paper presents a non-linear regression-based data aggregation protocol for preserving privacy of the sensor data. The proposed protocol uses non-linear regression functions to represent the sensor data collected from the sensor nodes.Instead of sending the complete data to the cluster head, the sensor nodes only send the coefficients of the non-linear function. This will reduce the communication overhead of the network. The data aggregation is performed on the masked coefficients and the sink node is able to retrieve the approximated results over the aggregated data. The analysis of experiment results shows that the proposed protocol is able to minimize communication overhead, enhance data aggregation accuracy, and preserve data privacy.

文摘In wireless sensor networks, data missing is a common problem due to sensor faults, time synchronization, malicious attacks, and communication malfunctions, which may degrade the network' s performance or lead to inefficient decisions. Experimental results on real world dataset demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is outli- er robust and can estimate the missing values accurately.

文摘With the increasing demand for marine exploration, underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) are prone to have the characteristics of large-scale, long term monitoring, and high data traffic load. Underwater media access control (MAC) protocols, which allow multiple users to share the common medium fairly and efficiently, are essential for the performance of UASNs. However, the design of MAC protocols is confronted with the challenges of spatial unfairness, data eruption, and low energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel data concurrent transmission (DCT) MAC protocol, which is able to exploit long propagation delay and conduct concurrent transmission. Specifically, we present the theoretical performance analysis of the proposed MAC protocol in detail and give an analytical solution of the success concurrent transmission probability between nodes. In addition, simulation results are provided to demonstrate that our proposed protocol is appropriate for UASNs and can significantly improve the performance in terms of network throughput and energy consumption. Finally, we give some typical future applications of UASNs and discuss the demands on MAC protocol design.
文摘For complementarity and redundancy of multi-sensor data fusion (MSDF) system,it is an effective approach for multiple components measurement. In order to measure nutrient solution on-line,a dynamic and complex system under greenhouse environment, sensors should have intelligent properties including self-calibration and self-compensation. Meanwhile,it is necessary for multiple sensors to cooperate and interact for enhancing reliability of multi-sensor system. Because of the properties of multi-agent system (MAS),it is an appropriate tool to study MSDF system. This paper proposed an architecture of MSDF system based on MAS for the multiple components measurement of nutrient solution. The sensor agent's structure and function modules are analyzed and described in detail, the formal definitions are given, too. The relations of the sensors are modeled to implement reliability diagnosis of the multi-sensor system,so that the reliability of nutrient control system is enhanced. This study offers an effective approach for the study of MSDF.

文摘Data fusion can effectively process multi-sensor information to obtain more accurate and reliable results than a single sensor. The data of water quality in the environment comes from different sensors, thus the data must be fused. In our research,self-adaptive weighted data fusion method is used to respectively integrate the data from the PH value, temperature, oxygen dissolved and NH3 concentration of water quality environment.Based on the fusion, the Grubbs method is used to detect the abnormal data so as to provide data support for estimation, prediction and early warning of the water quality.
文摘In wireless sensor networks, the missing of sensor data is inevitable due to the inherent characteristic of wireless sensor networks, and it causes many difficulties in various applications. To solve the problem, the missing data should be estimated as accurately as possible. In this paper, a k-nearest neighbor based missing data estimation algorithm is proposed based on the temporal and spatial correlation of sensor data. It adopts the linear regression model to describe the spatial correlation of sensor data among different sensor nodes, and utilizes the data information of multiple neighbor nodes to estimate the missing data jointly rather than independently, so that a stable and reliable estimation performance can be achieved. Experimental results on two real-world datasets show that the proposed algorithm can estimate the missing data accurately.

文摘In every network, delay and energy are crucial for communication and network life.In wireless sensor networks, many tiny nodes create networks with high energy consumption and compute routes for better communication.Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)is a very complex scenario to compute minimal delay with data aggregation and energy efficiency. In this research,we compute minimal delay and energy efficiency for improving the quality of service of any WSN.The proposed work is based on energy and distance parameters as taken dependent variables with data aggregation.Data aggregation performs on different models, namely Hybrid-Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(H-LEACH),Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEACH),and Multi-Aggregator-based Multi-Cast(MAMC).The main contribution of this research is to a reduction in delay and optimized energy solution,a novel hybrid model design in this research that ensures the quality of service in WSN.This model includes a whale optimization technique that involves heterogeneous functions and performs optimization to reach optimized results. For cluster head selection,Stable Election Protocol(SEP)protocol is used and Power-Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems(PEGASIS)is used for driven-path in routing.Simulation results evaluate that H-LEACH provides minimal delay and energy consumption by sensor nodes. In the comparison of existing theories and our proposed method,HLEACH is providing energy and delay reduction and improvement in quality of service.MATLAB 2019 is used for simulation work.
