If a capacitor is charged using a current transformer (CT) and a rectifying circuit, the charging time depends on the current flowing through a power line. In the case that the node transmits data every time when voltage of the capacitor exceeds a threshold voltage, we can indirectly measure the current by measuring the transmission intervals. In this method, the circuit of the node can be simplified and power consumption for the wireless transmission can be decreased because the measured current data does not need to be included in the transmitted packet. However, the measurable range is about single digit because the transmission interval decreases suddenly as the current increases. In this work, we have ex- panded the range using one CT, one wireless transmission module, and two charging circuits that include different load resistors connected in series. The results indicated that the measurable range was from 0.5 A to 50 A.展开更多

Mem- ory can be efficiently used by sharing data, and the life-time of a battery can be extended, when the node has long power saving sleep-phases. We propose a publish/subscribe architecture that achieves these two aims. The results of our work are of great interest for sensor application developers, giving them now the opportu- nity to use our architecture for sharing data among different applications on the node as well as the different layers of the operating system. We introduce a blackboard which is used for centrally storing published val- ues, like measured data from a monitored sensor. This makes it possible to share stored data without monitoring the sensors once again, which is advantageously concerning power consumption, memory space, and reaction time. Beside the proposed publish/subscribe method for sensor nodes with its notification possibili- ties, our architecture fulfills also real-time requirements. We show how the well-known sensor operating system MANTIS OS can be extended by a real-time enabled, blackboard-based publish/subscribe architect- ture. This architecture and first of all its implementation is of special interest for cross layer optimization of sensor applications. Cross-layer approaches benefit from our architecture because the available implementa- tion can be used as an efficient framework for central storing and managing of shared values.展开更多

The advent of Network Centric Therapy is highly relevant to the treatment of Parkinson’s disease through deep brain stimulation. Originally wearable and wireless systems for quantifying Parkinson’s disease involved the use a smartphone to quantify hand tremor. Although originally novel, the smartphone has notable issues as a wearable application for quantifying movement disorder tremor. The smartphone has evolved in a pathway that has made the smartphone progressively more cumbersome to mount about the dorsum of the hand. Furthermore, the smartphone utilizes an inertial sensor package that is not certified for medical analysis, and the trial data access a provisional Cloud computing environment through an email account. These concerns are resolved with the recent development of a conformal wearable and wireless inertial sensor system. This conformal wearable and wireless system mounts to the hand with the profile of a bandage by adhesive and accesses a secure Cloud computing environment through a segmented wireless connectivity strategy involving a smartphone and tablet. Additionally, the conformal wearable and wireless system is certified by the FDA of the United States of America for ascertaining medical grade inertial sensor data. These characteristics make the conformal wearable and wireless system uniquely suited for the quantification of Parkinson’s disease treatment through deep brain stimulation. Preliminary evaluation of the conformal wearable and wireless system is demonstrated through the differentiation of deep brain stimulation set to “On” and “Off” status. Based on the robustness of the acceleration signal, this signal was selected to quantify hand tremor for the prescribed deep brain stimulation settings. Machine learning classification using the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA) was applied using the multilayer perceptron neural network. The multilayer perceptron neural network achieved considerable classification accuracy for distinguishing between the deep brain stimulation system set to “On” and “Off” status through the quantified acceleration signal data obtained by this recently developed conformal wearable and wireless system. The research achievement establishes a progressive pathway to the future objective of achieving deep brain stimulation capabilities that promote closed-loop acquisition of configuration parameters that are uniquely optimized to the individual through extrinsic means of a highly conformal wearable and wireless inertial sensor system and machine learning with access to Cloud computing resources.展开更多

One of the most issues in WSNs that researchers have proposed a hundred of technique to solve its impact is the energy constraint since sensor nodes have small battery, small memory and less data processing with low computational capabilities. However, many researches efforts have focused on how to prolong the battery lifetime of sensor nodes by proposing different routing, MAC, localization, data aggregation, topology construction techniques. In this paper, we will focus on routing techniques which aim to prolonging the network lifetime. Hence, we propose an Energy-Efficient Routing technique in WSNs based on Stationary and Mobile nodes (EERSM). Sensing filed is divided into intersected circles which contain Mobile Nodes (MN). The proposed data aggregation technique via the circular topology will eliminate the redundant data to be sent to the Base Station (BS). MN in each circle will rout packets for their source nodes, and move to the intersected area where another MN is waiting (sleep mode) to receive the transmitted packet, and then the packet will be delivered to the next intersected area until the packet is arrived to the BS. Our proposed EERSM technique is simulated using MATLAB and compared with conventional multi-hop techniques under different network models and scenarios. In the simulation, we will show how the proposed EERSM technique overcomes many routing protocols in terms of the number of hops counted when sending packets from a source node to the destination (i.e. BS), the average residual energy, number of sent packets to the BS, and the number of a live sensor nodes verse the simulation rounds.展开更多

The sensor nodes in the network are generally small-size, low-cost, low-power and multi-function capabilities. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are used for various applications;since numerous sensor nodes are usually deployed on remote and inaccessible places, the employment and preservation should be easy and scalable. Sensor nodes in the field being run out of energy quickly has been an issue and many energy efficient routing protocols have been proposed to solve this problem and preserve the long life of the network. This paper work proposes a hierarchical based node activation routing technique which shows energy efficiency. This technique selects cluster head with highest residual energy in each communication round of transmission to the base station from the cluster heads. Hierarchical based node activation routing technique with different levels of hierarchy simulation results prolongs the lifetime of the network compared to other clustering schemes and communication rounds of simulation increase significantly.展开更多

The discussion evaluates the resulting protection environment from a number of salient viewpoints that include the implementation of common protection paradigms, efficiency in the distribution and revocation of access privileges, and the lack of a privileged (kernel) mode.
文摘We report a novel battery-less wireless current sensor node without an analog to digital converter (ADC). The results indicated that the measurable range was from 0.5 A to 50 A.

文摘Wireless sensor nodes have the advantage of being low-cost,easily deployed and of good mobility. If deployed in an underground mine with existing underground transmission systems a wireless sensor network can improve the collection of information. To get good transmission performance for 2.4 GHz wireless sensor nodes at the working face we calculated the reflection properties of electromagnetic waves from a flat metal plate.Using the cascade impedance method(CIM),we studied transmission attenuation and compared the results to actual tests. The results show that the effective transmission distance of 2.4 GHz wireless sensor nodes meets the stipulations of the ZigBee protocol.
文摘Wireless sensor network nodes have only limited resources concerning memory and battery life-time. Cross-layer approaches benefit from our architecture because the available implementa- tion can be used as an efficient framework for central storing and managing of shared values.
文摘We consider the extension of network lifetime of battery driven wireless sensor networks by splitting the sensing area into uniform clusters and implementing heterogeneous modulation schemes at different members of the clusters. A cross-layer optimization has been proposed to reduce total energy expenditure of the network;at network layer, routing is done through uniform clusters;at MAC layer, each sensor node of the cluster is assigned fixed or variable time slots and at physical layer different member of the clusters is assigned different modulation techniques. MATLAB simulation proved substantial network lifetime gains.

文摘The hydrothermal synthesis of In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2)–In_(2)O_(3)is investigated as well as the properties of sensor layers based on these compounds.During the synthesis of In_(2)O_(3),intermediate products In(OH)_(3)and InOOH are formed, which are the precursors of stable cubic(c-In_(2)O_(3))and metastable rhombohedral(rh-In_(2)O_(3))phases,respectively.A transition from c-In_(2)O_(3)to rh-In_(2)O_(3)is observed with the addition of CeO_(2).The introduction of cerium into rh-In_(2)O_(3)results in a decrease in the sensor response to hydrogen, while it increases in composites based on c-In_(2)O_(3).The data on the sensor activity of the composites correlate with XPS results in which CeO_(2)causes a decrease in the concentrations of chemisorbed oxygen and oxygen vacancies in rh-In_(2)O_(3).The reverse situation is observed in composites based on c-In_(2)O_(3).Compared to In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2)–In_(2)O_(3)obtained by other methods, the synthesized composites demonstrate maximum response to H_(2)at low temperatures by 70–100℃,and have short response time(0.2–0.5 s),short recovery time(6–7 s),and long-term stability.A model is proposed for the dependence of sensitivity on the direction of electron transfer between In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2).

文摘The concept of Network Centric Therapy represents an amalgamation of wearable and wireless inertial sensor systems and machine learning with access to a Cloud computing environment. The research achievement establishes a progressive pathway to the future objective of achieving deep brain stimulation capabilities that promote closed-loop acquisition of configuration parameters that are uniquely optimized to the individual through extrinsic means of a highly conformal wearable and wireless inertial sensor system and machine learning with access to Cloud computing resources.
文摘In Wireless Sensor Network (WSNs), sensor nodes collect data and send them to a Base Station (BS) for further processing. BS), the average residual energy, number of sent packets to the BS, and the number of a live sensor nodes verse the simulation rounds.
文摘The wireless sensor network (WSN) is one of the budding exploring areas and fast rising fields in wireless communications. Hierarchical based node activation routing technique with different levels of hierarchy simulation results prolongs the lifetime of the network compared to other clustering schemes and communication rounds of simulation increase significantly.
