Based on the theory of adaptive time-frequency decomposition and Time-Frequency Dis- tribution Series (TFDS), this paper presents a novel denoising method for non-stationary signal. Ac- cording to the input signal features, an appropriate kind of elementary functions with great concen- tration in the Time-Frequency (TF) plane is selected. Then the input signal is decomposed into a linear combination of these functions. The elementary function parameters are determined by using ele- mentary function TF curve surface to fit the input signal’s TFDS. The process of curved surface fitting corresponds to the signal structure matching process. The input signal’s dominating component whose structure has the resemblance with elementary function is fitted out firstly. Repeating the fitting process, the residue can be regarded as noises, which are greatly different from the function. Selecting the functions fitted out initially for reconstruction, the denoised signal is obtained. The performance of the proposed method is assessed by means of several tests on an emulated signal and a gearbox vi- brating signal. 展开更多

High quality, concentrated sugar syrup crystal is produced in a critical step in cane sugar production: the clarification process. It is characterized by two variables: the color of the produced sugar and its clarity degree. We show that the temporal variations of these variables follow power-law distributions and can be well modeled by multiplicative cascade multifractal processes. These interesting properties suggest that the degradation in color and clarity degree has a systemwide cause. In particular, the cascade multifractal model suggests that the degradation in color and clarity degree can be equivalently accounted for by the initial "impurities" in the sugarcane. Hence, more effective cleaning of the sugarcane before the clarification stage may lead to substantial improvement in the effect of clarification. 展开更多

Relieving network congestions is a critical goal for the safe and flexible operation of modern power systems, especially in the presence of intermittent renewables or distributed generation. This paper deals with the real-time coordinated operation of distributed static series compensators(DSSCs) to remove network congestions by suitable modifications of the branch reactance. Several objective functions are considered and discussed to minimize the number of the devices involved in the control actions, the total losses or the total reactive power exchanged, leading to a non-convex mixed-integer non-linear programming problem. Then, a heuristic methodology combining the solution of a regular NLP with k-means clustering algorithm is proposed to get rid of the binary variables, in an attempt to reduce the computational cost. The proposed coordinated operation strategy of the DSSCs is tested on several benchmark systems, providing feasible and sufficiently optimal solutions in a reasonable time frame for practical systems. 展开更多
