新疆某儿童医院矮小症患儿血清25-(OH)D水平的调查分析

目的:调查不同生长激素状态下的矮小症患儿25羟维生素D[25-(OH)D]的水平,为临床中儿童生长发育评估提供一定理论依据。方法:选取2023年1—10月北京儿童医院新疆医院收治的115例矮小症儿童,根据生长激素在药物激发试验的峰值水平将研究... 目的:调查不同生长激素状态下的矮小症患儿25羟维生素D[25-(OH)D]的水平,为临床中儿童生长发育评估提供一定理论依据。方法:选取2023年1—10月北京儿童医院新疆医院收治的115例矮小症儿童,根据生长激素在药物激发试验的峰值水平将研究对象分为完全缺乏组、部分缺乏组和特发性矮小组,选取同期40名健康儿童作为对照组。通过化学发光法检测各组血清25-(OH)D值。结果:3组矮小症患儿的25-(OH)D水平均低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。不同民族间,3组矮小症患儿的25-(OH)D水平均低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。完全缺乏组25-(OH)D水平低于部分缺乏组和特发性矮小组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。在同一组内,不同民族儿童的25-(OH)D水平比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:25-(OH)D水平可能与儿童矮小症存在关联,故矮小症患儿应及时检测体内25-(OH)D水平,并根据检测结果及时有效地补充维生素D。 展开更多

Objective To study the effect of oral vitamin D (VD) supplementation on VD status and serum lipid in Chinese obese and healthy normal-weight men. Methods Twenty-one obese men with their body mass index (BMI)〉28 kg/m2 served as an obese group and 22 healthy normal-weight men with their BMI〈24 kg/m2 served as a control group in this study. After they were given 50 000 IU of oral VD, once a week for 8 weeks, the serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentration was measured with an enzyme-immunoassay kit. Results After oral VD supplementation, the serum 25(OH)D concentration significantly increased from 46.1+9.1 nmol/L to 116.7_+20.3 nmol/L in the obese subjects (P〈O.01) and from 52.8_+17.8 nmol/L to 181.3_+30.2 nmol/L in the control ones (P=0.13). The serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level was reduced within the normal reference range in the obese group. However, no significant change was observed in the level of other serum lipids (triglycerides, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) in either of the two groups. Conclusion The effect of high-dose oral VD supplementation is weaker on VD status in the obese group than in the control group. High-dose oral VD supplementation has no side effect on serum lipid level in obese and control groups. 展开更多

目的测定妊娠早期血清25-羟基维生素D[25-(OH)D]、铁蛋白(SF)水平与甲状腺功能的相关性。方法选取进行常规产前检查的161例妊娠早期妇女为研究对象,按照25-(OH)D水平分为缺乏组、不足组和充足组;按照SF水平分为铁缺乏组和铁正常组。比... 目的测定妊娠早期血清25-羟基维生素D[25-(OH)D]、铁蛋白(SF)水平与甲状腺功能的相关性。方法选取进行常规产前检查的161例妊娠早期妇女为研究对象,按照25-(OH)D水平分为缺乏组、不足组和充足组;按照SF水平分为铁缺乏组和铁正常组。比较各组甲状腺功能指标血清促甲状腺激素(TSH)、游离甲状腺素(FT 4)、甲状腺过氧化物酶抗体(TPO-Ab)水平,并分析25-(OH)D、SF水平与甲状腺功能指标的相关性。结果25-(OH)D充足组较不足组和缺乏组血清TPO-Ab水平降低,不足组较缺乏组降低(P<0.05)。铁正常组血清TSH水平低于铁缺乏组,FT 4水平高于铁缺乏组(P<0.05)。Pearson相关性分析显示,血清25-(OH)D水平与TPO-Ab呈负相关(r=-0.524,P=0.024);SF水平与TSH水平呈负相关(r=-0.613,P=0.025),与FT 4水平呈正相关(r=0.762,P=0.012)。结论妊娠早期血清TPO-Ab水平与维生素D缺乏相关,TSH、FT 4与铁元素缺乏相关,甲状腺功能指标检测有助于评估孕妇维生素D及铁储存量,对临床有重要意义。 展开更多

BACKGROUND Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is a concern due to its rapid increase in incidence in recent years.AIM To investigate the correlation and predictive value of serum pregnancyassociated plasma protein A(PAPP-A),triglyceride(TG),and 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25-(OH)D]with GDM in early pregnancy.METHODS A total of 99 patients in early pregnancy admitted to Peking University International Hospital from November 2015 to September 2017 were included,and underwent a fasting glucose test and oral glucose tolerance test screening at 24-28 wk of pregnancy.Of these cases with GDM,51 were assigned to group A and the remaining 48 cases without GDM were enrolled in group B.Serum PAPP-A,TG and 25-(OH)D in the two groups were compared and their correlation with blood sugar was analyzed.In addition,their diagnostic value in GDM was determined using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis.RESULTS Group A had markedly lower serum PAPP-A and 25-(OH)D levels and a significantly higher serum TG level than group B,with statistical significance(P<0.05).Furthermore,Pearson analysis identified that PAPP-A and 25-(OH)D levels were negatively correlated with fasting blood glucose(FBG)levels(r=-0.605,P<0.001),(r=-0.597,P<0.001),while TG and FBG levels were positively correlated(r=0.628,P<0.001).The sensitivity,specificity,area under the curve(AUC)and optimal cut-off value of serum PAPP-A level in the diagnosis of GDM were 72.55%,82.35%,0.861 and 16.340,respectively,while the sensitivity of TG in diagnosing GDM was 86.27%,the specificity was 66.67%,the AUC was 0.813,with an optimal cut-off value of 1.796.The corresponding sensitivity,specificity,AUC and optimal cut-off value of serum 25-(OH)D were 64.71%,70.59%,0.721 and 23.140,respectively.Moreover,multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that FBG,vascular endothelial growth factor,Flt-1,serum PAPP-A,TG,and 25-(OH)D were related risk factors leading to GDM in patients.CONCLUSION Serum PAPP-A,TG,and 25-(OH)D levels are all correlated with blood glucose changes in GDM,and are independent factors affecting the occurrence of GDM and have certain value in the diagnosis of GDM. 展开更多

目的 探讨血清25(OH)D水平联合血栓弹力图(thrombelastography, TEG)诊断下肢深静脉血栓形成(deep vein thrombosis, DVT)的价值。方法 选择收集2017年1月—2021年6月收治的疑似DVT患者共101例(研究组),所有患者经下肢血管B超确诊,并选... 目的 探讨血清25(OH)D水平联合血栓弹力图(thrombelastography, TEG)诊断下肢深静脉血栓形成(deep vein thrombosis, DVT)的价值。方法 选择收集2017年1月—2021年6月收治的疑似DVT患者共101例(研究组),所有患者经下肢血管B超确诊,并选取同一时期的健康体检者102名(对照组)。观察两组的基本临床特征、合并症、血清25(OH)D水平、TEG参数及其他必要的实验室指标,分析其与DVT的相关性;再基于血清25(OH)D水平,将参与者分为3个亚组(充足、不足、缺乏),分析联合TEG参数诊断DVT的价值。结果 研究组血清25(OH)D水平明显低于对照组(P<0.05),对照组的TEG参数R值、MA、LY30、EPL均高于研究组(P<0.05),对照组的TEG参数CI低于研究组(P<0.05)。在基于血清25(OH)D水平的3个亚组当中,可发现其水平存在明显差异(P<0.05),而TEG的参数MA、LY30、EPL、CI在亚组中也存在统计学差异(P<0.05)。Logistic回归分析发现,血清25(OH)D水平与TEG参数LY30(OR=0.604,95%CI:0.461~0.792)、CI(OR=1.681,95%CI:1.076~2.626)联合诊断呈现一定的交互作用。ROC曲线结果显示,血清25(OH)D水平联合TEG参数LY30和CI具有较高的诊断价值(AUC=0.96,P<0.05),而单独血清(25(OH)D诊断DVT具有中等价值(AUC=0.756,P<0.05)。结论 血清25(OH)D水平是一项可用于辅助诊断DVT的实验室检查指标,与TEG的部分参数LY30、CI联合时有着较高的诊断价值。 展开更多

目的探讨血清25羟维生素D[25(OH)D]水平与新生儿肺炎病情严重程度的关系及对预后的预测价值。方法选取2021年6月至2023年6月山东大学齐鲁医院德州医院收治的264例诊断为新生儿肺炎患儿为研究对象,根据肺炎病情严重程度分为重症肺炎组87... 目的探讨血清25羟维生素D[25(OH)D]水平与新生儿肺炎病情严重程度的关系及对预后的预测价值。方法选取2021年6月至2023年6月山东大学齐鲁医院德州医院收治的264例诊断为新生儿肺炎患儿为研究对象,根据肺炎病情严重程度分为重症肺炎组87例,轻症肺炎组177例。比较两组基线资料及血清25(OH)D水平;采用多因素Logistic回归分析新生儿肺炎病情严重程度的影响因素;采用ROC曲线分析血清25(OH)D水平对新生儿肺炎病情严重程度及预后的预测价值。结果重症肺炎组患儿血清25(OH)D、血钙、血清总蛋白水平均低于轻症肺炎组(P<0.05),碱性磷酸酶高于轻症组,重症组胎龄、出生体重、Apgar 5 min评分、产前激素使用和孕母维生素D补充比例低于轻症组(P<0.05)。多因素Logistic回归分析显示胎龄、产前使用激素、出生体重、Apgar 5 min评分、孕母补充维D及患儿血清25(OH)D、血清总蛋白水平是影响新生儿肺炎病情严重程度的相关因素(P<0.05)。ROC曲线分析结果显示,血清25(OH)D能预测新生儿肺炎病情程度及预后的曲线下面积分别为0.758和0.782,灵敏度和特异度分别为96.4%,52.3%和89.2%,54.7%。结论血清25(OH)D水平在重症肺炎患儿中水平较低,能反映新生儿病情严重程度,并对其病情及预后具有较高的预测价值。 展开更多

目的调查并评估西安地区0~12岁体检儿童血清25羟维生素D[25-hydroxy vitamin D,25(OH)D]营养状况。方法回顾性分析2020年3月1日~2023年7月31日空军军医大学第二附属医院儿童保健科进行常规体检的2670例西安市0~12岁儿童的血清25(OH)D资... 目的调查并评估西安地区0~12岁体检儿童血清25羟维生素D[25-hydroxy vitamin D,25(OH)D]营养状况。方法回顾性分析2020年3月1日~2023年7月31日空军军医大学第二附属医院儿童保健科进行常规体检的2670例西安市0~12岁儿童的血清25(OH)D资料,分析不同年龄、性别、季节儿童维生素D的营养状况。结果①该研究共纳入2670例西安市0~12岁儿童,血清25(OH)D均值为40.80±18.00ng/ml,其中38例(1.42%)存在血清25(OH)D缺乏,333例(12.47%)存在血清25(OH)D不足,2299例(86.11%)血清25(OH)D充足。②不同年龄段血清25(OH)D差异有统计学意义(H=1524.23,P=0.000);1~<4岁组最高,为52.51±13.57ng/ml;8~12岁组最低,为21.65±6.75ng/ml。③夏季的血清25(OH)D水平(39.44±17.46ng/ml)低于春季(41.96±17.76ng/ml)和秋季(42.71±18.15ng/ml),差异具有统计学意义(Z=101.57,-134.06,均P<0.01)。但冬季血清25(OH)D缺乏、不足率(18.95%)高于春夏秋(13.52%,12.75%,12.36%)三季(χ^(2)=14.32,P=0.026)。④不同性别血清25(OH)D水平差异无统计学意义(H=0.933,P=0.351)。但男童血清25(OH)D缺乏、不足率(12.51%)低于女童(15.46%),差异具有统计学意义(χ^(2)=9.257,P=0.010)。结论西安地区0~12岁儿童维生素D营养状况较好,应加强3岁以上儿童维生素D的摄入和补充。 展开更多

目的探讨维生素D滴剂联合孟鲁司特钠对哮喘患儿血清25-(OH)D水平及肺功能的影响。方法选择2021年6月至2022年6月景德镇市妇幼保健院收治的68例哮喘患儿为研究对象,按照随机数字表法分为对照组和观察组,每组34例。对照组患者口服孟鲁司特... 目的探讨维生素D滴剂联合孟鲁司特钠对哮喘患儿血清25-(OH)D水平及肺功能的影响。方法选择2021年6月至2022年6月景德镇市妇幼保健院收治的68例哮喘患儿为研究对象,按照随机数字表法分为对照组和观察组,每组34例。对照组患者口服孟鲁司特钠,观察组基于此加用维生素D滴剂。比较两组患者的症状改善时间、血清25-(OH)D、肺功能与免疫功能。结果观察组的肺部哮鸣音(2.45±0.58)d、咳嗽(3.19±0.76)d、喘息(2.33±0.54)d、呼吸困难(1.17±0.28)d均短于对照组的(3.83±0.79)d、(4.48±1.56)d、(3.92±0.81)d、(1.93±0.35)d,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。两组患者治疗后的血清25-(OH)D水平均高于治疗前,且观察组治疗后的血清25-(OH)D水平高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。两组治疗后的第1秒用力呼气量(FEV_(1))、用力肺活量(FVC)、最大呼气流量(PEF)水平均高于治疗前,且观察组治疗后的FEV_(1)、FVC、PEF水平均高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。两组治疗后的CD4、CD4/CD8均高于治疗前,CD8均低于治疗前,且观察组CD4、CD4/CD8均高于对照组,CD8低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论哮喘患儿采用维生素D滴剂联合孟鲁司特钠治疗效果较好,缩短症状改善时间,提升肺功能、血清25-(OH)D水平、免疫功能,值得临床广泛应用。 展开更多

目的建立血清25-羟维生素D_(3)[25-hydroxyvitamin D_(3),25-(OH)D_(3)]及3-epi-25-羟维生素D_(3)[3-epi-25-hydroxyvitamin D_(3),3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3)]超高效液相色谱-串联质谱检测新方法(ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tan... 目的建立血清25-羟维生素D_(3)[25-hydroxyvitamin D_(3),25-(OH)D_(3)]及3-epi-25-羟维生素D_(3)[3-epi-25-hydroxyvitamin D_(3),3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3)]超高效液相色谱-串联质谱检测新方法(ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry,UPLC-MS/MS),并在早产儿中开展初步应用。方法采用液-液萃取法提取化合物,五氟苯基丙基(pentafluorophenyl propyl,PFPP)色谱柱分离25-(OH)D_(3)与3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3);从最低定量限、线性关系、精密度与准确度等四个方面对新建方法进行验证,并对134例早产儿血清样本进行检测分析。结果25-(OH)D_(3)及3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3)的最低定量限分别为6.05±0.78 nmol/L,1.48±0.20 nmol/L;线性范围3.78~480.00 nmol/L,1.00~128.00 nmol/L;相关系数r2为0.9922,0.9928;25-(OH)D_(3)与3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3)低、中、高浓度质控品的日内精密度和日间精密度均小于15.00%;回收率109.92%,102.25%,98.76%;97.75%,95.25%,99.80%。134例早产儿血清25-(OH)D_(3)平均浓度22.35±13.28nmol/L,3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3)平均浓度5.43±4.35 nmol/L;3-epi-25-(OH)D_(3)占总25-(OH)D_(3)的平均比例为19.96%±12.08%,范围0.00%~60.62%。以25-(OH)D_(3)计算,维生素D(Vitamin D,Vit D)缺乏率、不足率、充足率分别为78.36%,19.40%,2.24%;以总25-(OH)D_(3)计算,Vit D缺乏率、不足率、充足率分别为65.67%,26.12%,8.21%;二者Vit D缺乏率及充足率的比较,差异均有统计学意义(χ^(2)=5.351,1.719,4.823,均P<0.05)。结论本研究建立的UPLC-MS/MS检测法性能良好且能精准检测早产儿血清25-(OH)D_(3)浓度,在早产儿Vit D评估方面具有较好的应用价值。 展开更多

Background: Vitamin D plays a pivotal role in supporting the immune system, helping to reduce the risk of infections and certain autoimmune diseases. Adequate vitamin D levels may be associated with a reduced risk of certain health conditions like pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and postpartum depression. Brittle bones, osteoporosis in the elderly, and osteomalacia in young children are all symptoms of vitamin D insufficiency. Additionally, it contributes to problems linked to gum disease, including an increase in dental cavities, alveolar bone loss around the teeth, and other problems. It could lead to depression, tiredness, and a loss of appetite. In this study, urban children and adolescents in Dhaka city, Bangladesh are examined for vitamin D deficiency, insufficiency, and sufficiency. Methods: The Study was a cross-sectional study conducted under Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka and additionally included two other health centers Medinova Medical Services and Monoara General Hospital Service Golap bag, Dhaka from October 2020 to November 2021. The study location was at the 3 (Three) different hospitals which was located in Dhaka City. In this cross-sectional study, Participants will be selected purposively and conveniently based on the age categories from 0 - 19 years of age at the outdoor department of the hospital. The study included the secondary dataset of ambulatory individuals who came to the 3 (three) hospitals, randomly to evaluate serum vitamin D levels on referral from a general out-patient-department (OPD). They were examined for laboratory findings of serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D levels to determine vitamin D deficiency, insufficiency, and sufficiency among children and adolescent groups of both male and female Sex. Results: A total of 6394 individuals with a diverse age group were statistically examined for laboratory findings of serum vitamin D levels. Vitamin D deficiency was observed in 40.58% of individuals with a mean log of 1.01 ± 0.18 ng/ml serum vitamin D levels, vitamin D insufficiency in 30.93% of individuals with a mean log of 1.38 ± 0.05 ng/ml serum vitamin D levels and vitamin D sufficiency in 19.49% individuals with a mean log of 1.63 ± 0.12 ng/ml serum vitamin D levels. The highest percentage of individuals deficient in vitamin D were children and adolescents of age ranging between 15 to 19 years. Conclusion: The findings of vitamin D deficiency in children and adolescents direct higher authorities in the public health sector to take immediate steps to screen, intervene and educate high-risk populations incorporating vitamin D supplements to establish preventive and therapeutic measures. 展开更多

目的研究血清中25-羟维生素D(25-OH VD)水平对冻融胚胎移植(FET)助孕结局的影响。方法回顾性分析2018年10月至2021年6月于郑州市妇幼保健院生殖中心行FET治疗的471周期临床资料。按照血清25-OH VD水平将患者分为3组:VD严重缺乏组(25-OHV... 目的研究血清中25-羟维生素D(25-OH VD)水平对冻融胚胎移植(FET)助孕结局的影响。方法回顾性分析2018年10月至2021年6月于郑州市妇幼保健院生殖中心行FET治疗的471周期临床资料。按照血清25-OH VD水平将患者分为3组:VD严重缺乏组(25-OHVD<10 ng/ml,n=82)、VD缺乏组(10 ng/ml≤25-OH VD<20 ng/ml,n=287)例及VD非缺乏组(25-OH VD≥20 ng/ml,n=102)。比较各组患者的基础资料、FET内膜准备方案、移植胚胎情况及妊娠结局的差异。结果3组患者间的女方年龄、不孕年限、不孕类型、体质量指数(BMI)、血糖、血清抗苗勒管激素(AMH)水平、FET内膜准备方案、FET日内膜厚度、移植胚胎数目及移植胚胎类型等差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。VD严重缺乏组患者的活产率最低,显著低于VD缺乏组(28.05%vs.41.11%)和VD非缺乏组(28.05%vs.47.06%)(P<0.05)。VD非缺乏组患者的胚胎种植率、HCG阳性率及临床妊娠率均最高,但3组间比较差异尚无统计学意义(P>0.05)。VD严重缺乏组的流产率及早产率均较高,但3组间比较差异无统计学意义(分别为28.13%vs.13.87%、9.43%;21.74%vs.11.86%、8.33%;P>0.05)。VD严重缺乏组的新生儿体重最低,与另外两组比较差异有统计学意义[(2.93±0.55)kg vs.(3.22±0.57)kg、(3.12±0.59)kg,P<0.05]。结论血清25-OHVD缺乏降低了冻融胚胎移植周期的活产率,且可能增加流产、早产的风险。 展开更多

Objective:To investigate the levels of serum vitamin D and IgE in infants with different allergic risks and to analyze their correlations.Methods:In the present study,the participants were selected and recruited from the infant ward of our hospital from February 2012 to December 2012.A total of 120 patients were selected and recruited.Among these patients,64 patients with symptoms of allergic diseases were assigned to the experimental group.The remaining 56 patients who had respiratory infections,but without other symptoms of allergic diseases,were assigned to the control group.The serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels were measured using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and the IgE levels were measured using radioimmunoassay in both experimental and control groups.Subsequently,the serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels and IgE levels were compared between the experimental group and control group.Results:The following findings were obtained through data comparison.The serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level in the experimental group was 18.19±7.84 ng/mL,and the IgE level was 551.51±705.88 IU/mL.The serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level in the control group was 21.95±7.834 ng/mL,IgE level was 49.39±32.46 IU/mL.The data comparison indicates that the serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level in the control group was higher than the experimental group,and the IgE level in the control group was lower than the experimental group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The level of vitamin D3 in patients with allergic symptoms is relatively low.This may be one of the causes leading to allergies.At the same time,IgE is also one of the causes contributing to allergies.An elevation of the IgE level is very likely to cause the allergic,and there is a correlation between serum vitamin D and IgE levels.At the same time,research has found that proper supplementation of vitamin D3 can help prevent allergic diseases,and can be considered in a new and highquality program for the prevention of allergic diseases. 展开更多

In 2002 there were 173 million diabetic adults worldwide, and these numbers are expected to reach up to 300 million people by 2030. Meanwhile, vitamin D deficiency has its worldwide prevalence directly influenced by factors as solar radiation, skin color, latitude and seasons, cultural habits of populations such as clothing and food, and these factors are important to explain the different prevalences of vitamin D deficiency in the world. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional cohort study was conducted with patients in the outpatient clinic of the Health Unit of the city of Mangueirinha, Paraná, Southern Brazil. Fifty-four type 2 diabetic patients were evaluated (38 women and 16 men), aged 55.8 ± 12.6 years. The following variables were evaluated: age, ethnicity, presence of type 2 diabetes (DM2), hypertension, dyslipidemia, weight, BMI, WC, blood pressure, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, ionized calcium, PTH, 25-OH Vit, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, urea, creatinine, uric acid and red cell/hematocrit. Results: mean BMI was 30.2 ± 4.4 kg/m<sup>2</sup>, indicating class 1 obesity in this population. Fasting glucose levels were approximately 169.8 ± 74.5 mg/dL. The 25-OH vitamin D values for this population were 23.4 ± 8.3 ng/mL, and 13% of them showed 25-OH vitamin D levels above 30 mg/dL. Fifty percent of those patients had vitamin D levels lower than 30 mg/dL, and 37% had less than 20 mg/dL. Conclusions: this study suggests that vitamin D is associated with low levels of vitamin D in type 2 diabetic patients. Supplementation of vitamin D should be considered in diabetic patients, when levels under 30 mg/mL are found. 展开更多

Background: Data on the serum vitamin D3 levels of vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) children are not known well in Central Africa. Children with vernal keratoconjunctivitis are less exposed to sunlight. There is no study that shows the breadth of the serum vitamin D3 levels of vernal keratoconjunctivitis children and normal in our setting. Purpose: This study aimed to compare the serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH)D3] levels of children with and without VKC. Methods: An observational, case-control study was performed from September 2019 to February 2020 in the Ophthalmology Department and the Clinical Biology Department of the University Hospital of Kinshasa. The case group was recruited consecutively in the consultation while the control group was enrolled in the nearest Rehoboth school complex using a systematic sample method (k = 4) on the presence register. Both cases and controls underwent the routine ophthalmological examination of the anterior segment and serum vitamin D3 levels were measured in both cases and controls using Mindray Chimic-Luminescence (CL)-1200i. Data were entered in Microsoft Sheets and analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. The Mann-Whitney-U test (M-U), and the t-Student test were used respectively to compare the mean serum vitamin D3 levels in both cases and controls. The correlation of Spearman (rho) was used to determine the association between Body Mass Index and serum vitamin D3 levels in the case group. Results: A total of 75 children with VKC (mean age 7.8 ± 4.4 years) and 75 children without VKC non-atopic control group (mean age 7.9 ± 4.3 years) were enrolled in this study. The vitamin D3 deficiency was more frequent among the case group than in the control group (40% vs 8%, p = 0.0001). Vitamin D3 insufficiency was more frequent in the case group than in the control group (33.3% vs 18.6%, p = 0.04). The mean serum vitamin 25(OH)D3 levels were statistically lower in children with VKC compared to those without (25.5 ± 8.7 ng/ml and 44.3 ± 18.5 ng/ml, p = 0.0001). Time spent outdoors during daylight by children with VKC was statistically lower than children without VKC (1.59 ± 0.71 hours and 2.28 ± 1.08 hours, respectively) (p = 0.0001). Body Mass Index and serum vitamin D3 levels in VKC children showed a negative correlation statistically significant (Spearman, rho = -0.452, p = 0.0001). Conclusion: This study showed statistically values of serum vitamin D3 levels in VKC children lower than in children without VKC. 展开更多
