BACKGROUND Thyroglobulin(Tg)is one of the markers of thyroid cancer,and its concentration may be elevated in patients with malignant thyroid tumors.Thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)is secreted by the pituitary gland,wh...BACKGROUND Thyroglobulin(Tg)is one of the markers of thyroid cancer,and its concentration may be elevated in patients with malignant thyroid tumors.Thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)is secreted by the pituitary gland,which has a significant impact on thyroid gland function.Excessively high or low TSH levels may be associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer.Thus,in-depth studies on the association of serum Tg and TSH levels with thyroid cancer risk in patients with thyroid nodules are warranted.This can help determine whether Tg and TSH levels can predict the degree of malignancy of thyroid nodules,which can in turn guide doctors in making accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions.Furthermore,such studies can provide more accurate diagnostic methods for thyroid nodules and help patients become aware of the presence of thyroid cancer as early as possible,thereby improving the success rate of treatment and prognosis.AIM To investigate the association of serum Tg and TSH levels with the risk of thyroid cancer in patients undergoing thyroid nodule surgery.METHODS The clinical data and laboratory examination results of 130 patients who underwent thyroid nodule surgery were retrospectively analyzed.Furthermore,their preoperative serum Tg and TSH levels were recorded.Histopathological examination conducted during follow-up revealed the presence of thyroid cancer.Correlation analysis were used to analyze the association of Tg and TSH levels with the risk of thyroid cancer.RESULTS Of the 130 patients,60 were diagnosed with thyroid cancer.Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between serum Tg levels and the risk of thyroid cancer(P<0.05).This suggests that high serum Tg levels are associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer.However,no significant correlation was observed between serum TSH levels and the risk of thyroid cancer(P>0.05).CONCLUSION In patients who underwent thyroid nodule surgery,serum Tg levels exhibited a significant correlation with the risk of thyroid cancer but serum TSH levels did not.These findings suggest that serum Tg can serve as an important biomarker for assessing the risk of thyroid cancer in these patients.展开更多

[Methods] From January 2020 to January 2021, eight patients with silicosis(including 3, 2 and 3 patients with silicosis in stages I, II and III respectively) were selected as the observation group, and eight persons frees of silicosis were selected as the control group during the same period. All patients were detected for serum APJ endogenous ligand(Apelin) of G protein-coupled receptor, matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) and pulmonary function indexes. The levels of serum Apelin and MMP-9 and lung function in the two groups were compared, and the correlation between serum Apelin and MMP-9 indexes and lung function was analyzed. [Results] The serum Apelin and lung function in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the level of MMP-9 in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The MMP-9 index in patients with silicosis in stage III was higher than those in patients with silicosis in stage II and stage I, and the MMP-9 index in patients with silicosis in stage II was higher than that in patients with silicosis in stage I, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The serum Apelin and lung function indexes of patients with silicosis in stage III were lower than those of patients with silicosis in stage II and stage I, and the serum Apelin and lung function indexes of patients with silicosis in stage II were lower than those of patients with silicosis in stage I, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between serum Apelin and lung function indexes, and a negative correlation between MMP-9 and lung function indexes. [Conclusions] A lower serum Apelin and a higher MMP-9 value in patients with silicosis indicate severer lung function impairment, and the combined detection of serum Apelin and MMP-9 is conducive to effective evaluation of the disease of silicosis. The serum Apelin index was negatively correlated with silicosis, and the level of MMP-9 was positively correlated with silicosis, which could provide a scientific basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.展开更多

Results Results from Spearman rank correlation analysis (partial variable: region) show that serum lead and cadmium are negatively related to percentage of morphological normal sperm, but canonical correlation between semen quality and serum heavy metal are not significant. Canonical correlation analysis among the subjects from Guizhou shows cadmium is harmful to sperm morphology. In Henan, furthermore, results show lead and cadmium could negatively affect sperm viability and morphology. Conclusion Among all study subjects, canonical correlation between semen quality and serum heavy metal were not significant; however, results in some region showed serum cadmium and lead might be harmful to sperm quality.展开更多

However, compared ...Background Risperidone (RSP) has a rapid onset in vivo, low dosage and high plasma protein binding rate, therefore therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is needed to ensure safety in clinical treatment. However, compared with blood, hair is non-invasive, safe, non-infectious and easy to transport and store. Aims This study aims to investigate the correlations among the drug concentrations of RSP in hair and serum, which provides an experimental basis to explore hair as a novel biomaterial to meet the needs of clinical detection. Methods 34 patients with schizophrenia treated with RSP for more than 3 months were enrolled in this study. About 1 cm section of hair near the scalp was taken from the subjects, pretreated and detected by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. A correlation analysis was conducted among the drug concentrations in hair, the serum concentrations and the daily dosage. The data were analysed usi叩 SPSS 20.0 software. Results There was significant correlation between the hair concentration of RSP (two-tailed test, r=0.440, p=0.009) with the serum concentration of RSP, and the hair concentration of 9-hydroxyrisperidone (9-HR) with the serum concentration of 9-HR had no significant correlation (two-tailed test, r=-0.217, p=0.217);the total concentration of the RSP and 9-HR had no significant correlation between hair and serum (r=0.227, p=0.196). The dosage had no statistically significant correlation with the concentration of RSP in hair (r=0.207, p=0.241), 9-HR in hair (r=-0.194, p=0.271) and the total concentration of RSP and 9-HR in hair (r=0.188, p=0.288). There was no statistical correlation between the dosage and the concentration of RSP in serum (r=-0.059, p=0.741), but significant correlation between the dosage and 9-HR in serum (r=0.581 p<0.001) was found, and the correlation between the dosage and the total concentration of the two drugs RSP and 9-HR in serum was also significant (r=0.437, p=0.01). Conclusion The correlation analysis showed that the concentration of RSP in hair was statistically significant with the serum RSP concentration. In this study, we provided some experimental basis for hair as a new biomaterial to monitor the therapeutic drug concentration.展开更多
BACKGROUND:Diabetes mellitus is one of the risk factors in patients with acute cerebral disease,and always leads to stroke or get it worse.There is often a high level of blood glucose in those patients with diabetes m...BACKGROUND:Diabetes mellitus is one of the risk factors in patients with acute cerebral disease,and always leads to stroke or get it worse.There is often a high level of blood glucose in those patients with diabetes mellitus and cerebral disease,but it is hard to distinguish from both kinds of hyperglycemia.Serum fructosamine is said to be correlated with blood glucose.OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease.DESIGN:A case-controlled study.SETTINGS:Department of Clinical Laboratory,Health Department for Cadres and Department of Neurology of Affiliated Hospital,Qingdao University Medical College.PARTICIPANTS:Forty-eight inpatients and outpatients with cerebrovascular diseases were selected from the Department of Neurology,Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College from December 2004 to April 2005.All the patients were confirmed with CT and MRI.There were 25 patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases,who met the diagnostic standards of diabetes mellitus set by WHO,including 12 males and 13 females with an average of(60±8)years old,the course of diabetes mellitus ranged from 1 to 21 years..The other 23 patients had no diabetes mellitus(without diabetes mellitus group),including 14 males and 9 females with an average of(62±6)years old.Meanwhile,another 50 healthy physical examinees in the hospital were selected as control group,including 26 males and 24 females with the average age of(62±5)years old.Informed content was obtained from all the participants.METHODS:Venous blood was drawn from all the participants,and content of blood glucose was assayed by means of glucose oxidase,and the concentration of serum fructosamine was determined by nitroblue tetrazolium colorimetric method.Comparison between groups was performed by the analysis of variance and q test,and the correlation was tested by linear regression analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:①Comparison of blood glucose and serum fructosamine among the groups;②Correlation between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases and those without diabetes mellitus.RESULTS:All the 48 patients with cerebrovascular disease and 50 healthy subjects were involved in the analysis of results.①Contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine:There were obvious differences in the contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine among the diabetes mellitus group,without diabetes mellitus group and control group(F=577.7,115.1,P<0.01).The content of serum fructosamine in the diabetes mellitus group[(4.25±1.35)mmol/L]was obviously higher than those in the control group and without diabetes mellitus group[(1.65±0.27),(1.96±0.25)mmol/L,q=1.47,1.30,P<0.01],whereas there was no significant difference between the without diabetes mellitus group and control group(P>0.05).The content of blood glucose was obviously higher in the patients with and without diabetes mellitus groups[(15.80±2.13),(9.50±1.78)mmol/L]than in the control group[(4.56±0.77)mmol/L,q=1.86,2.46,P<0.01],also markedly higher in the with diabetes mellitus group than in the without diabetes mellitus group(q=1.42,P<0.01).②Results of correlation analysis:The content of serum fructosamine was positively correlated with the level of fasting blood glucose in the patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases(r=0.603,P<0.01).But there was no relationship between serum fructosamine and fasting blood glucose in the patients without diabetes mellitus(r=0.357,P>0.05).CONCLUSION:The contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine were obviously different among the diabetes mellitus group,without diabetes mellitus group and control group.There are closer relations between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebral disorders,which are not observed in the patients without diabetes mellitus.Fructosamine is significant in differentiating the reasons for the increased blood glucose in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease.展开更多

The prolactin level might reach three times more than basic level within 30 minutes and decrease to the normal value 2 hours after the seizure occurred. The mechanism might result in an increase of serum prolactin concentrations with the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. OBJECTIVE:To probe into the correlation between changes of serum prolactin and incidence of epileptic discharges of electroencephalogram (EEG) at 24-36 hours after epileptic onset of patients with secondary epilepsy. DESIGN : Clinical observational study SEI-FING: Department of Neurology, First Hospital affiliated to Soochow University PARTICIPANTS: A total of 21 patients with secondary epilepsy were selected from the Department of Neurological Emergency or Hospital Room of the First Hospital affiliated to Soochow University from November 2005 to April 2006. There were 14 males and 7 females aged from 25 to 72 years. All patients met International League Anti-epileptic (ILAE) criteria in 1981 for secondary generalized tonic clonic seizure through CT or MRI and previous EEG. All patients were consent. Primary diseases included cerebral trauma (3 cases), tumor (2 cases), stroke (7 cases) and intracranial infeion (9 cases). METHODS : Venous blood of all patients was collected at 24-36 hours after epileptic onset. Serum prolactin kit (Beckman Coulter, Inc in USA) was used to measure value of serum prolactin according to kit instruction. Then, value of serum prolactin was compared with the normal value (male: 2.64-13.13 mg/L; female: 3.34- 26.72 mg/L); meanwhile, EEG equipment (American Nicolet Incorporation) was used in this study. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES : ① Abnormal rate of serum prolactin of patients with secondary epilepsy; ②Comparison between normal and abnormal level of serum prolactin and incidence of EEG epileptic discharge of patients with secondary epilepsy. RESULTS:All 21 patients with secondary epilepsy were involved in the final analysis. ① Results of serum prolactin level: Among 21 patients with of secondary epilepsy, 10 of them had normal serum prolactin and 11 had abnormal one, and the abnormal rate was 52% (11/21). ② Detecting results of EEG: EEG results showed that 6 cases were normal and 15 were abnormal, and the abnormal rate was 71% (15/21). The symptoms were sharp wave, spike wave or sharp slow wave, spike slow wave of epileptic discharges in 8 cases, which was accounted for 38%. ③ Correlation between abnormality of serum prolactin and EEG epileptic wave: Eleven cases had abnormal serum prolactin, and the incidence was 64% (7/11), which was higher of epileptic wave than that of non-epileptic wave [36% (4/11), P 〈 0.05]; however, 10 cases had normal serum prolactin, and the incidence was 10% (1/10). Epileptic wave was lower than non-epileptic wave [90% (9/10), P 〈 0.01]. CONCLUSION : The level of serum prolactin of patients with secondary epilepsy is abnormally increased at 24- 36 hours after epileptic onset; in addition, incidence of epileptic discharge is also increased remarkably.展开更多

BACKGROUND The incidence and mortality of liver cancer are among the highest of all malignant tumors in China.The high recurrence rate after conventional hepatectomy is worrying.There is a lack of effective prognostic...BACKGROUND The incidence and mortality of liver cancer are among the highest of all malignant tumors in China.The high recurrence rate after conventional hepatectomy is worrying.There is a lack of effective prognostic indicators for liver cancer.AIM To explore the clinical significance of preoperative serum oxidative stress and serum uric acid(UA)levels in hepatitis B-related liver cancer.METHODS The medical records of 110 hepatitis B-related liver cancer patients who under-went hepatectomy in Gansu Provincial Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Recurrence in patients within 3 years after surgery was determined.The logistic regression model and Pearson or Spearman correlation were used to analyze the correlation between oxidative stress level and UA,and the recurrence of hepatitis B-related liver cancer.RESULTS Compared with the non-recurrence group,the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione(GSH)in the recurrence group were lower and the levels of malondialdehyde(MDA)and UA were higher(all P<0.05).UA,SOD,MDA,and GSH were risk factors for postoperative recurrence in hepatitis B-related liver cancer patients(P<0.05).UA was positively correlated with MDA(r=0.395,P<0.001)and negatively correlated with GSH(r=-0.204,P=0.032).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of SOD,MDA,GSH,and UA in predicting the prognosis was 0.276,0.910,0.199,and 0.784,respectively(all P<0.001).CONCLUSION The preoperative serum SOD,GSH,MDA,and UA levels had significant predictive effects on postoperative recurrence of hepatitis B-related liver cancer.展开更多

The serum Apelin index was negatively correlated with silicosis, and the level of MMP-9 was positively correlated with silicosis, which could provide a scientific basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
文摘Objective To explore the correlation between serum, heavy metal and semen quality in normal Chinese young menMethods This study was designed as a multi-center cross-sectional investigation. The subjects consisted of 562 male vomunteers who had undergone premarital physical examination in maternal and children health centers in 7 provinces in China. Results Results from Spearman rank correlation analysis (partial variable: region) show that serum lead and cadmium are negatively related to percentage of morphological normal sperm, but canonical correlation between semen quality and serum heavy metal are not significant. Canonical correlation analysis among the subjects from Guizhou shows cadmium is harmful to sperm morphology. In Henan, furthermore, results show lead and cadmium could negatively affect sperm viability and morphology. Conclusion Among all study subjects, canonical correlation between semen quality and serum heavy metal were not significant; however, results in some region showed serum cadmium and lead might be harmful to sperm quality.

文摘Background Risperidone (RSP) has a rapid onset in vivo, low dosage and high plasma protein binding rate, therefore therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is needed to ensure safety in clinical treatment. However, compared with blood, hair is non-invasive, safe, non-infectious and easy to transport and store. Aims This study aims to investigate the correlations among the drug concentrations of RSP in hair and serum, which provides an experimental basis to explore hair as a novel biomaterial to meet the needs of clinical detection. Methods 34 patients with schizophrenia treated with RSP for more than 3 months were enrolled in this study. About 1 cm section of hair near the scalp was taken from the subjects, pretreated and detected by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. A correlation analysis was conducted among the drug concentrations in hair, the serum concentrations and the daily dosage. The data were analysed usi叩 SPSS 20.0 software. Results There was significant correlation between the hair concentration of RSP (two-tailed test, r=0.440, p=0.009) with the serum concentration of RSP, and the hair concentration of 9-hydroxyrisperidone (9-HR) with the serum concentration of 9-HR had no significant correlation (two-tailed test, r=-0.217, p=0.217);the total concentration of the RSP and 9-HR had no significant correlation between hair and serum (r=0.227, p=0.196). The dosage had no statistically significant correlation with the concentration of RSP in hair (r=0.207, p=0.241), 9-HR in hair (r=-0.194, p=0.271) and the total concentration of RSP and 9-HR in hair (r=0.188, p=0.288). There was no statistical correlation between the dosage and the concentration of RSP in serum (r=-0.059, p=0.741), but significant correlation between the dosage and 9-HR in serum (r=0.581 p<0.001) was found, and the correlation between the dosage and the total concentration of the two drugs RSP and 9-HR in serum was also significant (r=0.437, p=0.01). Conclusion The correlation analysis showed that the concentration of RSP in hair was statistically significant with the serum RSP concentration. In this study, we provided some experimental basis for hair as a new biomaterial to monitor the therapeutic drug concentration.
文摘BACKGROUND:Diabetes mellitus is one of the risk factors in patients with acute cerebral disease,and always leads to stroke or get it worse.There is often a high level of blood glucose in those patients with diabetes mellitus and cerebral disease,but it is hard to distinguish from both kinds of hyperglycemia.Serum fructosamine is said to be correlated with blood glucose.OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease.DESIGN:A case-controlled study.SETTINGS:Department of Clinical Laboratory,Health Department for Cadres and Department of Neurology of Affiliated Hospital,Qingdao University Medical College.PARTICIPANTS:Forty-eight inpatients and outpatients with cerebrovascular diseases were selected from the Department of Neurology,Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College from December 2004 to April 2005.All the patients were confirmed with CT and MRI.There were 25 patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases,who met the diagnostic standards of diabetes mellitus set by WHO,including 12 males and 13 females with an average of(60±8)years old,the course of diabetes mellitus ranged from 1 to 21 years..The other 23 patients had no diabetes mellitus(without diabetes mellitus group),including 14 males and 9 females with an average of(62±6)years old.Meanwhile,another 50 healthy physical examinees in the hospital were selected as control group,including 26 males and 24 females with the average age of(62±5)years old.Informed content was obtained from all the participants.METHODS:Venous blood was drawn from all the participants,and content of blood glucose was assayed by means of glucose oxidase,and the concentration of serum fructosamine was determined by nitroblue tetrazolium colorimetric method.Comparison between groups was performed by the analysis of variance and q test,and the correlation was tested by linear regression analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:①Comparison of blood glucose and serum fructosamine among the groups;②Correlation between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases and those without diabetes mellitus.RESULTS:All the 48 patients with cerebrovascular disease and 50 healthy subjects were involved in the analysis of results.①Contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine:There were obvious differences in the contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine among the diabetes mellitus group,without diabetes mellitus group and control group(F=577.7,115.1,P<0.01).The content of serum fructosamine in the diabetes mellitus group[(4.25±1.35)mmol/L]was obviously higher than those in the control group and without diabetes mellitus group[(1.65±0.27),(1.96±0.25)mmol/L,q=1.47,1.30,P<0.01],whereas there was no significant difference between the without diabetes mellitus group and control group(P>0.05).The content of blood glucose was obviously higher in the patients with and without diabetes mellitus groups[(15.80±2.13),(9.50±1.78)mmol/L]than in the control group[(4.56±0.77)mmol/L,q=1.86,2.46,P<0.01],also markedly higher in the with diabetes mellitus group than in the without diabetes mellitus group(q=1.42,P<0.01).②Results of correlation analysis:The content of serum fructosamine was positively correlated with the level of fasting blood glucose in the patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases(r=0.603,P<0.01).But there was no relationship between serum fructosamine and fasting blood glucose in the patients without diabetes mellitus(r=0.357,P>0.05).CONCLUSION:The contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine were obviously different among the diabetes mellitus group,without diabetes mellitus group and control group.There are closer relations between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebral disorders,which are not observed in the patients without diabetes mellitus.Fructosamine is significant in differentiating the reasons for the increased blood glucose in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease.
文摘BACKGROUND: Researchers discovered that serum prolactin could rise following an epileptic seizure. The prolactin level might reach three times more than basic level within 30 minutes and decrease to the normal value 2 hours after the seizure occurred. The mechanism might result in an increase of serum prolactin concentrations with the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. OBJECTIVE:To probe into the correlation between changes of serum prolactin and incidence of epileptic discharges of electroencephalogram (EEG) at 24-36 hours after epileptic onset of patients with secondary epilepsy. DESIGN : Clinical observational study SEI-FING: Department of Neurology, First Hospital affiliated to Soochow University PARTICIPANTS: A total of 21 patients with secondary epilepsy were selected from the Department of Neurological Emergency or Hospital Room of the First Hospital affiliated to Soochow University from November 2005 to April 2006. There were 14 males and 7 females aged from 25 to 72 years. All patients met International League Anti-epileptic (ILAE) criteria in 1981 for secondary generalized tonic clonic seizure through CT or MRI and previous EEG. All patients were consent. Primary diseases included cerebral trauma (3 cases), tumor (2 cases), stroke (7 cases) and intracranial infeion (9 cases). METHODS : Venous blood of all patients was collected at 24-36 hours after epileptic onset. Serum prolactin kit (Beckman Coulter, Inc in USA) was used to measure value of serum prolactin according to kit instruction. Then, value of serum prolactin was compared with the normal value (male: 2.64-13.13 mg/L; female: 3.34- 26.72 mg/L); meanwhile, EEG equipment (American Nicolet Incorporation) was used in this study. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES : ① Abnormal rate of serum prolactin of patients with secondary epilepsy; ②Comparison between normal and abnormal level of serum prolactin and incidence of EEG epileptic discharge of patients with secondary epilepsy. RESULTS:All 21 patients with secondary epilepsy were involved in the final analysis. ① Results of serum prolactin level: Among 21 patients with of secondary epilepsy, 10 of them had normal serum prolactin and 11 had abnormal one, and the abnormal rate was 52% (11/21). ② Detecting results of EEG: EEG results showed that 6 cases were normal and 15 were abnormal, and the abnormal rate was 71% (15/21). The symptoms were sharp wave, spike wave or sharp slow wave, spike slow wave of epileptic discharges in 8 cases, which was accounted for 38%. ③ Correlation between abnormality of serum prolactin and EEG epileptic wave: Eleven cases had abnormal serum prolactin, and the incidence was 64% (7/11), which was higher of epileptic wave than that of non-epileptic wave [36% (4/11), P 〈 0.05]; however, 10 cases had normal serum prolactin, and the incidence was 10% (1/10). Epileptic wave was lower than non-epileptic wave [90% (9/10), P 〈 0.01]. CONCLUSION : The level of serum prolactin of patients with secondary epilepsy is abnormally increased at 24- 36 hours after epileptic onset; in addition, incidence of epileptic discharge is also increased remarkably.
文摘Dear Editor: The emergence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is bringing new challenges. MDR-TB is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) that is resistant to isoniazid and rifampicin, with or with- out resistance to other anti-tuberculosis drugs. Approximately 450,000 people developed MDR-TB worldwide in 2012 and an estimated 170,000 people died from the disease. Bacterial burden is not strictly corre- lated with disease progression, and several hallmarks of severe tuberculosis suggest that insufficiently controlled inflammation plays an important role in pathogenesis.

文摘BACKGROUND The incidence and mortality of liver cancer are among the highest of all malignant tumors in China.The high recurrence rate after conventional hepatectomy is worrying.There is a lack of effective prognostic indicators for liver cancer.AIM To explore the clinical significance of preoperative serum oxidative stress and serum uric acid(UA)levels in hepatitis B-related liver cancer.METHODS The medical records of 110 hepatitis B-related liver cancer patients who under-went hepatectomy in Gansu Provincial Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Recurrence in patients within 3 years after surgery was determined.The logistic regression model and Pearson or Spearman correlation were used to analyze the correlation between oxidative stress level and UA,and the recurrence of hepatitis B-related liver cancer.RESULTS Compared with the non-recurrence group,the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione(GSH)in the recurrence group were lower and the levels of malondialdehyde(MDA)and UA were higher(all P<0.05).UA,SOD,MDA,and GSH were risk factors for postoperative recurrence in hepatitis B-related liver cancer patients(P<0.05).UA was positively correlated with MDA(r=0.395,P<0.001)and negatively correlated with GSH(r=-0.204,P=0.032).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of SOD,MDA,GSH,and UA in predicting the prognosis was 0.276,0.910,0.199,and 0.784,respectively(all P<0.001).CONCLUSION The preoperative serum SOD,GSH,MDA,and UA levels had significant predictive effects on postoperative recurrence of hepatitis B-related liver cancer.
