The present investigation was carri...Urban growth represents specific response to economic, demographic and environmental conditions. Rapid urbanization and industrializations have resulted in sharp land cover changes. The present investigation was carried out from Shaoxing City to quantify satellite-derived estimates of urban growth using a three-epoch time series Landsat TM data for the years 1984, 1997 and ETM 2000. The methodology used was based on post classification comparison. The use of GIS allowed spatial analysis of the data derived from remotely sensed images. Results showed that the built-up area surrounding Shaoxing City has expanded at an annual average of 7 km2. Analysis of the classified map showed that the physical growth of urban area is upsetting the other land cover classes such as farming, water resources, etc. The study conclusion mainly emphasized the need for sustainable urban capacity.展开更多

We report here geochemical data, U-Pb zircon ages, and Hf isotopes for the high-Mg diorites (HMDs), Nb-enriched basaltic porphyrys (NEBPs) and plagiogranites (PLAGs) in the Pingshui segment of the Jiangshan-Shaoxing s...We report here geochemical data, U-Pb zircon ages, and Hf isotopes for the high-Mg diorites (HMDs), Nb-enriched basaltic porphyrys (NEBPs) and plagiogranites (PLAGs) in the Pingshui segment of the Jiangshan-Shaoxing suture zone. The HMDs are characterized by high Mg# (>60), high Na and LREE contents, depletion of HREE and HFSE, and pronounced positive εNd(t) values of 7.0 to 7.7, similar to some adakitic high-Mg andesites. The NEBPs are relatively Na-rich (Na2O/K2O>6) and display high abundances of P2O5 (~1.00%), TiO2 (~3.08%) and HFSE (e.g., Nb=9.53–10.27 ppm). Their Nd isotopic compositions (εNd(t)=6.8–8.0) are comparable to those of the HMDs. The PLAGs are metaluminous (A/CNK=0.84–0.89) and sodic (Na2O/K2O>10). Their depletion in HFSE (e.g., Nb, Ta) is consistent with “SSZ-type” plagiogranite. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating yields an age of 932±7 Ma for the HMD, 916±6 Ma for the NEBP, and 902±5 Ma for the PLAG, respectively, indicating that they were products of early Neoproterozoic magmatism. The PLAGs exhibit relatively high zircon Hf isotopes and positive εHf(t) values of 11.0 to 16.2, consistent with their Nd isotopic data (εNd(t)=7.5–8.4). Such features are similar to those of oceanic plagiogranites in ophiolites and distinct from those of crust-derived granites. The PLAGs were most likely derived from partial melting of subducted oceanic crust in an active continental margin. Considering these results in the context of the regional geology, we suggest that a slab window in the subducting oceanic crust between the Yangtze Block and Cathaysia Block was possibly the principal cause for the unique arc magmatism in the area. The upwelling asthenosphere below the slab window may have provided significant thermodynamic conditions.展开更多

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS),caused by SFTS virus(SFTSV)infection,was first reported in 2010 in China with an initial fatality of up to 30%.The laboratory confirmation of SFTSV infection in terms ...Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS),caused by SFTS virus(SFTSV)infection,was first reported in 2010 in China with an initial fatality of up to 30%.The laboratory confirmation of SFTSV infection in terms of detection of viral RNA or antibody levels is critical for SFTS diagnosis and therapy.In this study,a new luciferase immunoprecipitation system(LIPS)assay based on p REN2 plasmid expressing SFTSV NP gene and tagged with Renilla luciferase(Rluc),was established and used to investigate the levels of antibody responses to SFTSV.Totally 464 serum samples from febrile patients were collected in the hospital of Shaoxing City in Zhejiang Province in 2019.The results showed that 82 of the 464 patients(17.7%)had antibody response to SFTSV,which were further supported by immunofluorescence assays(IFAs).Further,q RT-PCR and microneutralization tests showed that among the 82 positive cases,15 patients had viremia,10 patients had neutralizing antibody,and one had both(totally 26 patient).However,none of these patients were diagnosed as SFTS in the hospital probably because of their mild symptoms or subclinical manifestations.All the results indicated that at least the 26 patients having viremia or neutralizing antibody were the missed diagnosis of SFTS cases.The findings suggested the occurrence of SFTS and the SFTS incidence were higher than the reported level in Shaoxing in 2019,and that LIPS may provide an alternative strategy to confirm SFTSV infection in the laboratory.展开更多
