The problem of wide pulse br...The characteristics of N-type accumulation-mode MOS (NMOS) varactors line periodically loaded with resonant tunneling diodes (RTDs) are used for soliton-like pulses generation and shaping. The problem of wide pulse breaking up into multiple pulses rather than a single is solved. Applying perturbative analysis, we show that the dynamics of the nonlinear transmission line (NLTL) is reduced to expanded Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. Moreover, numerical integration of nonlinear differential and difference equations that result from the mathematical analysis of the line is discussed. As results, NLTL can simultaneously sharpen both leading and trailing of pulse edges and one could obtain a rising and sharpening step pulse.展开更多

A stop band fil...An approach for full duty frequency-doubled triangle shape lightwave generation is proposed and demonstrated.It requires a dual-parallel Mach–Zehnder modulator（DP-MZM） driven by a sinusoidal signal. A stop band filter is coupled to filter out two undesired sidebands. By tuning the bias voltage applied to the DP-MZM, the output optical intensity with a full duty cycle triangle shape profile can be obtained. It is found that the required modulation index is no longer a fixed one. It can vary within a range, without degrading the target waveform. The principle is analyzed by theory and evaluated by simulation. A proof-of-concept experiment is also conducted.Good agreements between theoretical prediction and experimental results have been found. This approach might be attractive due to the feature of a variable modulation index, which insures simple operation in practice.展开更多

However. the working mech- anism of electrostatic charge generation for single granules and particularly, their electrostatic equilibria have not been properly understood. In this work, repeated-sliding charging experiments with single granules were investigated for their electrostatic generation particularly from the perspective of tribo- electrification equilibrium. Factors including granule length-ratio, sliding face shape, sliding times, sliding area, sliding velocity, front-facing edge, and sliding-plate inclined-angle were found to have an obvious effect on granule charge generation. Length-ratio and sliding area have significant effects as the gran- ules evolved toward an equilibrium state. Equilibrium charge is suggested as a variable expressing the charging propensity of the material. In addition, under the same working conditions, a semi-cylindrical granule generates greater charge than a rectangular granule.展开更多
