Simulation Training for Laparoscopic Surgery Can Improve Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques for Interns and Probationers

Objective: The clinical clerkship and practice stage plays a pivotal role in the transition of medical students from theoretical knowledge to practical application, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-life clinical experience. In order to improve the teaching quality of interns and probationers, we try to let them practice the skills of laparoscopic surgery in the early stage, and summed up a set of evaluation methods that can be widely used in medical education. Methods: From September 2019 to December 2019, a total of 54 interns and 72 trainees were selected as research objects. They were assigned to training sessions and their proficiency was assessed before and after the training. The change in proficiency is compared to determine whether the training course is valuable. Results: Before the operation training, the interns scores were BP 17.3 3.1, CC 17.9 3.4, KT 16.4 3.4, LS 16.7 3.3. The results of probationers were BP 16.9 2.7, CC 16.8 2.8, KT 15.2 1.6, and LS 14.8 2.2. After completing the operations training, the results of interns were BP 21.1 1.9, CC 20.6 2.7, KT 19.6 3.0, and LS 20.9 1.4. The probationers scores were BP 19.3 3.2, CC 19.6 3.5, KT 19.6 2.6, and LS 20.0 2.4. After the operation training, the performance of the intern group was better than that before the training (P < 0.05). The same is true of the probationer group. The time-consuming intern examinations were BP 147.9 38.5 s, CC 123.2 28.7 s, KT 82.6 24.1 s and LS 162.5 31.1 s. The examination time of probationers were BP 179.9 46.4 s, CC 132.1 24.3 s, KT 109.3 27.5 s and LS 210.0 58.8 s. Conclusion: Simulation training for laparoscopic surgery can improve minimally invasive surgical techniques for interns and probationers.

Short-term train arrival delay prediction:a data-driven approach

Purpose-To optimize train operations,dispatchers currently rely on experience for quick adjustments when delays occur.However,delay predictions often involve imprecise shifts based on known delay times.Real-time and accurate train delay predictions,facilitated by data-driven neural network models,can significantly reduce dispatcher stress and improve adjustment plans.Leveraging current train operation data,these models enable swift and precise predictions,addressing challenges posed by train delays in high-speed rail networks during unforeseen events.Design/methodology/approach-This paper proposes CBLA-net,a neural network architecture for predicting late arrival times.It combines CNN,Bi-LSTM,and attention mechanisms to extract features,handle time series data,and enhance information utilization.Trained on operational data from the Beijing-Tianjin line,it predicts the late arrival time of a target train at the next station using multidimensional input data from the target and preceding trains.Findings-This study evaluates our model’s predictive performance using two data approaches:one considering full data and another focusing only on late arrivals.Results show precise and rapid predictions.Training with full data achieves aMAEof approximately 0.54 minutes and a RMSEof 0.65 minutes,surpassing the model trained solely on delay data(MAE:is about 1.02 min,RMSE:is about 1.52 min).Despite superior overall performance with full data,the model excels at predicting delays exceeding 15 minutes when trained exclusively on late arrivals.For enhanced adaptability to real-world train operations,training with full data is recommended.Originality/value-This paper introduces a novel neural network model,CBLA-net,for predicting train delay times.It innovatively compares and analyzes the model’s performance using both full data and delay data formats.Additionally,the evaluation of the network’s predictive capabilities considers different scenarios,providing a comprehensive demonstration of the model’s predictive performance.

Cooperation between China and Germany for twenty years as well as development of international welding training and qualification in China

Chinese Welding Training and Qualification Committee (CANB) was awarded the authorisation of IIW in 2000, and has issued nearly 2000 IIW diplomas by the end of 2004. Since Harbin Welding Training Institute(WTI Harbin) was founded based on Sino-German cooperation in 1984, it has trained all kinds of welding personnel 20000 and it made important contribution to the up-to-date system introduction of international welding training to China. The common questions in Germany foreign aid programs are: when German experts were on site, the project was on the operation; when he/they left, only memory was left. The outstanding achievements of Harbin Welding Training Institute tell us: when German experts were away, the cooperation program is not only run normally, but also gets persistent development, it is the successful model among the cooperation projects between China and Germany.

Training and Development of the International US Executive

The international US executive in foreign assignments faces more obstacles than his counterpart for domestic assignments. He has to pursue better coping skills for： cultural, communication and language, self-capability, stress management, and adjustment issues in the foreign settings. Premature return can be obviated through improved pre-departure training and post-arrival mentoring. US expatriates who are selected for foreign assignments in culturally distant and operationally different countries have an especially important need for their development and training. The challenge to adapt and become functional and fluent in the local surroundings in a very short time is very difficult for the expatriate. The expatriate＇s strange and difficult-to-fathom foreign environment causes him to be anxious as he works hard to adjust and be effective. The obstacles of dealing with the different business customs, social etiquette, and language differences make it difficult for communication, operating environments, and building professional relationships in an appropriate manner. He has to deal with the strangeness and unfamiliarity during the initial period after his arrival in the foreign country. This is further compounded by the pressing need for him to show good performance and produce results in his foreign assignment. He struggles to adjust and to perform the technical aspects of his task.

Innovation Research of International Talent Training Mode of Tourism Management Major in“The Belt and Road”Regions

The structural scarcity of international talents in tourism industry has become the bottleneck restricting tourism cooperation community of“the Belt and Road”countries and regions,and“the Belt and Road”regional tourism cooperation community has forced the cultivation and promotion of tourism management professionals.Therefore,the research on cultivation and promotion path of international tourism management professionals in“the Belt and Road”regions has become a hot topic in theoretical and practical circles.“The Belt and Road”initiative is put forward to force the innovation of international talent training mode of tourism management major.After investigation,the existing problems in the development of tourism management undergraduate major in colleges and universities are accurately grasped.Eventually,the international talent training mode of tourism management major in“the Belt and Road”regions is innovated from the following aspects:reforming mutual recognition credit system and international enrollment system,innovating the concept of personnel training,reforming practical talents system,innovating curriculum system,and establishing cultivation and promotion path platform for international talents.

Cultivating global health professionals: evaluation of a training course to develop international consulting service competence in China

Background:China’s accelerating development and increasingly important role in global health engagement create a great demand for global health professionals including international consulting experts.This study reported the detailed development and evaluation of an international consulting training for global health workforce.Methods:Based on Kirkpatrick’s model,a mixed-methods approach was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the training.Quantitative and qualitative data on participants’reaction,learning,and application of the learned knowledge and skills were collected by a training evaluation survey at the ending of training and a follow-up interview in three months after the training.Results:Thirty-six participants attended the training and 34 of them completed quantitative investigation.The training satisfaction evaluations were positive,for which participants rated the training program highly and over 90%of them agreed with the usefulness of the training.About knowledge and skills change,participants showed improved consulting knowledge and skills from pre-to post-training(P<0.001).A total of 23 participants accepted follow-up interview,and most participants applied knowledge and skills learned from the training in their daily work or study.However,only 30.4%of participants applied their learning in the consulting program.The largest barrier of application was the lack of consulting opportunities.In addition,almost all the participants reported that they would be glad to attend more training courses in the future.Conclusion:The international consulting training program was well-received,and was feasible to improve the consulting service competence of global health professionals.According to participants’feedback,it is essential to develop and expand consulting training in the field of global health.

Re-measuring International Short-term Capital Flow into China with Varying Methods

This paper.fi＇rst conducts a systematic review of domestic and foreign scholars＇ approaches to predicting short-term capital flows, then employs a combination of both direct and indirect methods to carry out its analysis. Three kinds of indicators, both specific and general, are applied in both methods. Thorough consideration is given to short-term international capital inflow from trade, other current account items, capital account, and errors and omissions, as well as other channels through which short term capital might accrue to a nation＇s balance. Based on a comprehensive comparison of year-on-year data, this paper also estimates monthly data using a simplified, indirect calculation approach. Estimates show that, despite a degree of difference in results between methods, most estimates are highly consistent for a given period. Based on monthly estimates, we conclude that turbulence in international financial markets （i.e., the United States subprime mortgage crisis and the European sovereign debt crisis） has had a major impact on China ＇s short-term capital flow.

Education Training Improvement of Built Environment and Energy Application Engineering in Line with the ABET Criteria

Built Environment and Energy Application Engineering(BEEAE),namely Heating,Ventilating,Air Conditioning and Refrigerating(HVAC&R),is one of the international accreditation programs.Its knowledge system of professional theory and professional education in accredited engineering academic programs must meet the requirements of the relevant international engineering certification.In view of professional engineers and technicians training of BEEAE,the professional training programs and the knowledge system are compared and explored in line with the international certification criteria.This study compares the items and requirements of different international certification criteria,and summarizes the experienced methods of education training.The undergraduate education and training programs are then improved in accordance with the requirements from international certification criteria.The BEEAE education training schemes should combine the knowledge system of the national professional guidance standards with the items from international certification criteria.

Sidelights on 2019 Training Program for Directors of Overseas China Cultural Centers and Tourism Offices

From March 1 8 to 25, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and organized by the Network of International Culturalink Entities, the 2019 Training Program for Directors of Overseas Chinese Cultural Centers and Tourism Offices was held in Beijing, Shanghai and Zhejiang Province. There were 60 directors and heads of the cultural centers and tourism offices from around the world attended the Program.
