Results showed that the concentrations of soil organic carbon, total N, NO3^--N, total P and available P in mixed plantations were higher than that in pure plantation. Soil microbial biomass N in two mixed plantations was averagely higher 69% and 61% than that in pure plantation at the 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm soil depth, respectively. Soil microbial biomass C, P and basal respiration in mixed plantations were higher 11%, 14% and 4% at the 0-10 cm soil depth and 6%, 3% and 3% at the 10-20 cm soil depth compared with pure plantation. However, soil microbial C: N ratio and qCO2 were averagely lower 34% and 4% in mixed plantations than pure plantation. Additionally, there was a closer relation between soil microbial biomass and soil nutrients than between basal respiration, microbial C: N ratio and qCO2 and soil nutrients. In conclusion, introduction of broad-leaved tree species into pure coniferous plantation improved soil microbial properties and soil fertility, and can be helpful to restore degraded forest soil.展开更多

Taking pure stand of Chinese fir as control, the authors measured and studied the content of organic carbon, content of humic acid (HA), ratio of HA to fulvic acid (FA), and the characteristics of infrared light spectrum and visible light spectrum of soil humus in the mixed forest of Chinese fir and Tsoong?tree. Compared to humus composition in the pure stand of Chinese fir, the content of soil organic C, HA content, and the E4 value of HA for different layers of soil, except for the ratio of HA to FA, showed a significant increase in the mixed forest, while the ratios of E4 to E6 had a little decrease. The infrared light spectrum of humic acid had an absorptive peak at 1650 cm-1. It is concluded that the levels of humification and aromaticity of soil humus are higher in the mixed forest, which is favorable for the improvement of soil structure and nutrient supply, thus improving the soil fertility to a certain degree.展开更多

A study was conducted to evaluate soil CO2 flux and its seasonal and diurnal variation with the air and soil temperatures by using static closed chamber technique in a typical broad-leaved/Korean pine mixed forest area on the northern slope of Changbai Mountain, Jilin Province, China. The experiment was carried out through the day and night in the growing season (from June to September) in situ and sample gas was analyzed by a gas chromatograph. Results showed that the forest floor was a large net source of carbon, and soil CO2 fluxes had an obvi-ous law of seasonal and diel variation. The soil CO2 flux of broad-leaved/Korean pine mixed forest was in the range of 0.302.42 mmol穖-2穝-1 with the mean value of 0.98 mmol穖-2穝-1. An examination on the seasonal pattern of soil CO2 emission suggested that the variability in soil CO2 flux could be correlated with variations in soil temperature, and the maximum of mean CO2 flux occurred in July ((1.27±23%) mmol穖-2穝-1) and the minimum was in September ((0.50±28%) mmol穖-2穝-1). The fluctuations in diel soil CO2 flux were also correlated with changes in soil temperature; however, there existed a factor for a time lag. Soil CO2 flux from the forest floor was strongly related to soil temperature and had the highest correlation with temperature at 6-cm depth of soil. Q10 values based on air temperature and soil temperature of different soil depths were at the ranges of 2.09–3.40.展开更多

[Method] 8 treatments were set to study the effects of the monoculture and mixed cropping of common vetch (Vicia gigantea Bge.), perennial ryegrass (Lofium) and rapeseed (Brassica campestris L.) on physi- cal and chemical properties of soil and economic characters of flue-cured tobacco. [Result] (1) Green manure turnover can reduce soil bulk density by 1.08%-8.62%, and the effect of green manure mixed cropping pattern was the best. (2) Green manure turnover also can increase the soil nutrient, soil organic matter, total nitro- gen (N), total phosphorus (P), total potassium (K), alkali-hydrolyzale N, rapidly available P and rapidly available K by 1.44%-6.10%, 0.01-0.12 g/kg, 1.89%- 11.32%, 0.12%-3.56%, 1.06%-11.76%, 0.04%-18.93% and 0.98%-23.12%, respec- tively, and the effect of the monoculture of common vetch was the best.(3) The overall change of soil pH was not obvious.(4)Green manure turnover can increase the yield and output of flue-cured tobacco, and the effect of the monoculture of common vetch was the best. [Conclusion] The monoculture of common vetch can be generalized in the dry land of Xiangxi tobacco-planting areas.展开更多

Results showed that the remediation efficiencies under mixed cropping of alfalfa and rape significantly exceeded those under single cropping when the initial concentrations of phenanthrene and pyrene were at 20.05-322.06 mg kg^-1 and 20.24-321.42 mg kg^-1, respectively. After 70 days plantation of crops, the contents of extractable PAHs in soils under mixed cropping were much lower than those under single cropping. About 65.17-83.52% of phenanthrene and 60.09%- 75.34% ofpyrene was removed from the soils under mixed cropping, respectively, which were averagely 43.26 and 40.38% for phenanthrene, and 11.03 and 16.29% for pyren higher than those under single cropping. Alfalfa or rape did absorb and accumulate PAHs from the soils apparently; the PAHs concentrations in plants monotonically increased with the increase of initial PAHs concentrations in soil; the accumulations of PAHs in plants showed following sequence as roots 〉 above parts, phenanthrene 〉 pyrene and single cropping 〉 mixed cropping at same contamination level. Despite the presence of vegetation significantly enhanced the remediation of PAHs in soils, contributions of abiotic loss, plant uptake, accumulation and microbial degradation was much lower than those of plant-microbial interactions in the process of phytoremediation. Thus plant-microbial interactions are the main mechanisms for the remediation enhancement of soil PAHs pollution under mixed cropping models. Results suggested a feasibility of the establishment of multi-species phytoremediation for the improvement of remediation efficiencies of PAHs, which may decrease accumulations of PAHs in crops and thus reduce their risks.展开更多

Compared with the pure stands of Chinese fir, the mixed stands exerted a positive effect on soil fertility, with increases in soil organic matter, total N, available P and available K. Moreover, improvements were also observed in soil enzymatic activities, aggregate structure, structure stability, status of soil porosity, soil aeration and penetrability in mixed stands. The row row interplanted stands had the best effect on tree growth and soil properties among these mixed forests. In the southern subtropical region, the spreading of the row row mixing model of the two tree species would be helpful to preventing the soil from fertility deterioration caused by successive plantation of Chinese fir.展开更多

A total of 57 plant species of MDF belonging to 28 families and 342 individuals and 25 plant species of DDF consist of 15 families and 285 individuals were identified. Plant species diversity was quantitatively higher in the MDF (H' = 3.68) compared to the DDF (H' = 2.39). Tectona grandis showed the highest density (30), dominance (4.40 m2) and IVI (27.01) of MDF and Dipterocarpus tuberculatus also composed the highest density (109), dominance (9.02 m2) and IVI (81.87) in DDF. The smallest diameter class (10 - 20 cm) comprised with 29 species, 103 individuals in MDF and 18 species, 85 individuals in DDF. The size class distribution displayed a reverse J-shaped pattern. The largest numbers of species were concentrated in the smallest height class in both investigated forests because of height and diameter distribution is closely related. The total densities of seedlings and saplings were 1219 and 531 ha-1 in MDF and 988 and 444 ha-1 in DDF respectively. Although soil texture of (40 - 50 cm) and (90 - 100 cm) were sandy clay loam in mixed deciduous forest, the other layers of both investigated forests were sandy loam.展开更多

The results show that: (1) the spatial distribution of SOM among different sites at the same age are not significant before 15-year-old, but significant at 20-year-old, and not significant again after 25-year-old; (2) the SOM contents in 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm layers increase sharply from 10- to 15-year-old, and decline gradually from 15- to 30- year-old; the SOM contents of the 30-year-old PCP were 80. 38% and 78.42% higher than that of the 10-year-old, but 29.16% and 53.37% lower than that of 15-year-old in the 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm layers, respectively. The decrease of SOM contents would lead to the degradation of soil fertility and the decline of forest productivity.展开更多

It emphatically analyzed the interrelations among free load swelling rate, non-load time, the proportion of mixed sand and initial dry density. Experimen- tal studies have shown that: Free load swelling deformation is mainly divided into three stages of rapid expan- sion, slow expansion and final stability; when the initial dry density is constant, free load swelling rate of the weathered sand modified soil will reduce rapidly before they slow down with the increase of sand proportion, and weathered sand modified soil free load swelling rate is not sensitive to the large amount of sand mixed; in the same mixed sand ratio, weathered sand modified soil free load swelling rate increases rapidly with the in- crease of initial dry density, there is a good linear correlation between them. To take appropriate control of the initial dry density during the expansive soil subgrade construction helps to reduce its swelling deformation and ensures the stability of the embankment.展开更多

The results showed that soil moisture and the bulk density in the mesophytic forest land were higher than those of other forest lands. The highest soil porosity value was observed in the early forest land. Soil p H of different forest was 4. 45-4. 75,indicating the variation was small. Besides,it indicated that the mixed forest was more able to increase the soil fertility than the pure forest because that the variation of soil acidity, organic matter content and total P and K in 34 and24 year-old mixed forests were higher than those in pure forests of the same year old. However, the content of soil available P and K decreased with the increase of soil depth, and varied in terms of forest ages. From the changes of soil indicators in different forest lands, soil nutrients in the 34 year-old P. massoniana forest was superior to that of other forest stands.展开更多

However, whether it also has a good effect on anti-liquefaction or not needs to be urgently answered for earthquake engineering. Quiet boundary is adopted on the lateral face while free field boundary is employed at the bottom. Byrne model on dynamic pore water pressure generation is accepted and natural seismic wave EI Centro whose peak acceleration is adjusted to 0.2 g in proportion is used for input. A double-layer foundation with sandy soil in the upper portion while clay soil in the lower part is chosen as the calculation model, which is 30 m in length and 20 m in width. The groundwater level is on the ground surface. Excess pore water pressure rate is considered as a liquefaction index in the three-dimensional non-linear earthquake response computation. The anti-liquefaction effectiveness and its influencing factors, such as confinement element area are studied. For the natural double-layer foundation, it is liquefied when the excess pore water pressure rate reaches 1.0 under the seismic load. Under the same earthquake load, the peak excess pore water pressure reduces to 0.56 after adopting reinforcement of the continuous soil-cement wall, which is 46% lower than before. It indicates that continuous soil-cement wall confinement method can attain the purpose of anti-liquefaction. Accordingly, it can be a sort of engineering measure to carry on the anti-liquefaction foundation treatment.展开更多

The results show that the pH values of rhizosphere soil for all the plant ations except the pure walnut stand, which was slightly higher, were lower than those of bulk soils, while the organic matter contents in the rhizosphere soil f or all the plantations except the mixed plantation, which was slightly lower, we re higher than that in bulk soil. There exists a relative nitrogen accumulation in the rhizosphere and the extent to which the nitrogen accumulates is closely r elated to tree species and mixed pattern. As far as the total P and K contents a re considered, there exists a deficient tendency in rhizosphere in comparison wi th bulk soil. The element N, P and K are all mobilized in the rhizosphere of the pure or mixed plantation, characterized by the higher contents of the available N, P and K in the rhizosphere. The available N content in the rhizosphere of th e larch in mixed plantation was obviously higher than that of its pure plantatio n, whereas the available P and K contents in the rhizosphere of walnut in the mi xed plantation, on the other hand, were significantly higher than those of its p ure plantation.展开更多

文摘In artificially controlled pot experiments, perennial ryegrass was mixed with other leguminous plants(white clo-ver and alfalfa)and treated with lead, zinc and cadmium(337 mg·kg^(-1),648 mg·kg^(-1),and 9 mg·kg^(-1),respectively)to simulate compound pollution conditions. The results showed that the concentrations of heavy metals,trans-port factors, and bioconcentration factors in mixed planting of ryegrass decreased compared with those in mono-culture.Regardless of whether heavy metal pollution was introduced, mixed planting increased the aboveground and underground biomasses of ryegrass. The different mixed planting treatments had no significant impact on the chlorophyll concentration of ryegrass. The mowing time, mixed planting treatment, and heavy metal treatment had impacts on antioxidant and osmotic adjustment substances, and there were some interactions. The mixed planting treatment did not significantly affect glutathione concentration, cysteine concentration,or nonprotein thiol.Mixed planting generally increased the nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations of ryegrass while reducing the stoichiometric ratio of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus. These results suggest that the mixed planting of ryegrass with legumes promotes the growth of ryegrass in the presence of high concentrations of heavy metal pollution. However,it does not enhance the ability of ryegrass to remediate heavy metal pollution in the soil.

文摘An investigation on soil organic carbon, total N and P, NO3-N, available P, microbial biomass C, N and P, basal respiration and metabolic quotients (qCO2) was conducted to compare differences in soil microbial properties and nutrients between 15-year-old pure Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) and two mixed Chinese fir plantations (mixed plantations with Alnus crernastogyne, mixed plantations with Kalopanax septemlobus) at Huitong Experimental Station of Forest Ecology (26°45′N latitude and 109°30′E longitude), Chinese Academy of Sciences in May, 2005. In conclusion, introduction of broad-leaved tree species into pure coniferous plantation improved soil microbial properties and soil fertility, and can be helpful to restore degraded forest soil.

文摘This study was conducted in Xinkou Experimental Forestry Farm of Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University, Sanming, Fujian Province in January 1999. It is concluded that the levels of humification and aromaticity of soil humus are higher in the mixed forest, which is favorable for the improvement of soil structure and nutrient supply, thus improving the soil fertility to a certain degree.

文摘The forest ecosystem plays an important role in the global carbon cycling. Q10 values based on air temperature and soil temperature of different soil depths were at the ranges of 2.09–3.40.

文摘The mechanisms and efficiencies of the removal and remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soils by different planting patterns with rape (Brassica campestris) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa) were studied by pot experiments in a greenhouse. Results suggested a feasibility of the establishment of multi-species phytoremediation for the improvement of remediation efficiencies of PAHs, which may decrease accumulations of PAHs in crops and thus reduce their risks.
文摘An investigation and on 13 year old (1984~1996) Chinese fir and Tsoong's tree mixed forests in Jianou City, Fujian Province, China was carried out to compare the influences of different interplanting types of individual tree tree, row row, row strip (three rows) and pure Chinese fir stands on soil properties. In the southern subtropical region, the spreading of the row row mixing model of the two tree species would be helpful to preventing the soil from fertility deterioration caused by successive plantation of Chinese fir.

文摘The uniform settle caused by the permafrost creep is still the primary problem of engineering construction in cold region. To investigate the creep characteristics of frozen soils mixed with silty clay and coarse-grained sand, several triaxial creep tests of frozen mixed soils under different conditions(temperature, confining pressure,coarse-grained particle content) were performed, and the effects of the temperature, confining pressure and coarse particle content on the creep characteristics of frozen mixed soils were also analyzed. The results of the experiments indicated that when the confining pressure was low,the specimen exhibited an attenuation creep under a low-stress level(0.4-0.7) and a non-attenuation creep under a high-stress level(0.7-0.9).In contrast, when the confining pressure was high, the specimen had both initial and stable creep stages, but no the accelerated creep stage. The higher the content of coarse grains, the shorter the stable creep stage, and the easier to enter the accelerated creep stage for the specimen.Further, the long-term strength of frozen soils decreased with an increase in the content of coarse grains. Finally,a newly improved Nishihara model was proposed to consider both the hardening effect and damage effect by introducing both the hardening and damage variables, which can model the entire creep process of frozen soils modeled relatively easily. It was found that with the increasing content of coarse particle, both the strengthening and damaged effects in the creep process are reduced。
文摘Patterns of woody regeneration in terms of species composition and diversity were studied in mixed deciduous forest (MDF) and deciduous dipterocarp forest (DDF) in Minbyin reserved forest of Lewe Township. Although soil texture of (40 - 50 cm) and (90 - 100 cm) were sandy clay loam in mixed deciduous forest, the other layers of both investigated forests were sandy loam.

文摘A total of 900 soil samples were collected from five habitats, including primary coniferous broad-leaved mixed forests, secondary coniferous broad-leaved mixed forests, secondary broad-leaved forests, secondary shrub forests, and cutover lands in spring, summer, and autumn to quantify responses of soil Collembolans(springtails)to the restoration of vegetation of temperate coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests. The results reveal that the taxonomic composition of Collembolans varied in the different stages of vegetation restoration.Seasonal variations were in regard to their abundance and richness.High similarities existed in Collembola communities at different stages of vegetation restoration, and distribution patterns of Collembola taxa displayed an evenness throughout all habitats.Soil Collembolans tended to gather on litter layers and soil surface;the highest abundance was found in the upper 5 cm soil layer during the initial stages of vegetation recovery.Tomocerus,Proisotoma, and Folsomia genera responded positively to the restoration of vegetation. However, responses of Ceratophysella and Parisotoma genera were negative. In addition, the Onychiuridae family did not respond to the vegetation restoration process. It was concluded that restoration of vegetative cover can increase the abundance of soil Collembolans, but different genera respond differently.

文摘Clarifying the soil nutrient dynamics caused by forest type variations in the coastal region helps scientifically to apply fertilizer to forest plantations and enhance the carbon(C)sink capacity.Pure forests of Ligustrum and Metasequoia,as well as their mixed forests,in a coastal region of China were investigated by collecting 0-20 and 20-40 cm soil samples and analyzing their differences in bulk density, water content,pH,soil organic matter(SOM),ammonium(NH_(4)^(+)-N),nitrate(NO_(3)^(-)-N)and total nitrogen(TN),available phosphorus(AP)and potassium(AK),microbial biomass C(MBC)and N(MBN),and enzyme activity. The results demonstrated that different forest types had no significant(p≥0.05)effect on 0-20 cm soil bulk density, water content,pH,NH_(4)^(+)-N,and SOM.However, the surface soil NO_(3)^(-)-N,TN,AP,and AK contents as well as enzyme activity changed significantly(p<0.05),in which the soil AK content of the ligustrum×metasequoia mixed forest was 47.5%and 65.5%higher than that of the ligustrum and metasequoia pure forest, respectively. The mixed forest soil had the highest MBN content, which was significantly(p<0.05)25.1%higher than that in the pure metasequoia forest.Meanwhile, soil phosphatase activities in ligustrum and metasequoia pure forests were significantly(p<0.05)lower than those in the mixed forests by 17.4%and 43.1%,respectively.However,soil NO_(3)^(-)-N and AP contents in the metasequoia pure forest were significantly(p<0.05)higher than those in the ligustrum pure forest and mixed forests.Soil MBC content and reductase NO_(3)^(-)-N activity were significantly(p<0.05)higher in ligustrum pure forest than in metasequoia pure forest and mixed forests. In addition, the results of two-way ANOVA showed that there were no significant(p≥0.05)differences in nutrient contents(e.g.,NH_(4)^(+)-N,AP,AK,and SOM)in different soil layers(0-20 and 20-40 cm)within the same forest type, except for NO_(3)^(-)-N.However,forest types had a significant(p<0.05)impact on NO_(3)^(-)-N and AP contents in 20-40 cm soil layer.Combining the two factors of forest stand and soil layer, there was a significant(p<0.05)interaction effect for their soil NH_(4)^(+)-N,NO_(3)^(-)-N,AP,and AK contents. In conclusion,significant(p<0.05)differences were observed in nutrient contents in 0-20 cm soil layer from different forest types, with soil fertility indices inmixed forests generally higher than in pure forests. Therefore, establishing mixed forests in coastal saline region is recommended to retain soil fertility and to enhance the C sink capacity of forestry.

文摘The investigation was conducted on the spatial and temporal distributions of soil organic mater (SOM) in the mixed plantations of alder (Aluns crernastogyne) and cypress (Cupressus funebris ) (MPAC), which distributed in the hilly areas of central Sichuan Basin (HACSB). The decrease of SOM contents would lead to the degradation of soil fertility and the decline of forest productivity.
文摘In this paper, through the indoor free load swelling rate test, expansive soil in a section of a first- class highway reconstruction project in Yichang City was studied. To take appropriate control of the initial dry density during the expansive soil subgrade construction helps to reduce its swelling deformation and ensures the stability of the embankment.
文摘This paper presents a novel computational procedure for the maximum dry density of mixed soils containing oversize particles. At first, the large-scale compaction test data for mixed soils are analyzed by an artificial neural network to determine the main factors affecting the compaction. These factors are then imposed on a genetic programming method and a new mathematical equation emerges. The new equation has more conformity with the experimental data in comparison with the previous correction methods.Besides, the mixed soil dry density is associated with most base soil and oversize fraction specifications. With regard to the sensitivity analyses,if the mixed soil contains high percentages of oversize fraction, the mixed soil composition is governed by the specification of oversized grains, such as specific gravity and the maximum grain size and by increasing these factors, the mixed soil dry density is increased. In mixed soil with a low content of oversize, the base soil specification mainly controls the compaction behavior of mixed soil.Furthermore,if the base soil is inherently compacted with greater dry density, adding the oversize slightly improves the mixed soil dry density. In contrast, adding oversized grains to the base soil with a lower dry density produces a mixed soil with greater dry density.By increasing the maximum grain size difference between the oversize fraction and base soil, the dry density of mixed soil is enhanced.

文摘Six forest stands of 59,34 and 24 year-old Pinus massoniana forests and their mixed forests were selected at the Experimental Center of Tropical Forestry of Chinese Academy of Forestry, and 20 m × 20 m plot was set up and soil samples were taken from 0-60 cm soil layers,to analyze the changes of soil nutrient content under different forest stands and forest ages. From the changes of soil indicators in different forest lands, soil nutrients in the 34 year-old P. massoniana forest was superior to that of other forest stands.
文摘Civil construction has high demand for new procedures and technologies capable of generating better results in numerous situations throughout the process.Nowadays, cavities in urban areas are commonly used due to the implantation of commercial and residential developments with more than two floors, seeking a better use of the nobler areas of the big cities. In geotechnical terms, the filling of these cavities, with the local soil, especially in the Federal District, lateritic soils, can represent additional efforts for the structures and foundations and lead to a compromise of the technical and functional performance of the same, compromising the efficiency and the economy of the enterprise. In this sense, this research evaluates the mechanical behavior of the mixtures, using GEO5 Software,Containment Design and Verification Modules, presenting an alternative to fill cavities in urban regions, with a mixture of material with lower specific density in relation to the soil Natural.Proctor Normal compression tests, simple direct shear saturation and sample expansibility were performed. The results showed a reduction of 38%in the strength of the reinforced concrete curtain,as well as a 25%reduction in maximum bending moments and 31%in maximum shear forces, and a reduction of about 32%in the displacements of the structure to the soil with addition of expanded vermiculite for tests obtained in the saturated condition. For the compositions of cement soil, expanded vermiculite soil and soil cement and expanded vermiculite, the deformations were of the order of 0.3%,0.4%and 0.2%,respectively.

文摘Continuous soil-cement wall confinement method to resist liquefaction is a new kind of process. Accordingly, it can be a sort of engineering measure to carry on the anti-liquefaction foundation treatment.

文摘A comparison study was made for the characteristics of pH value, orga nic matter content, nutrient element N, P and K contents in rhizosphere soils of pure and mixed plantations of Manchurian walnut and Dahurian larch and in bulk soils. The available N content in the rhizosphere of th e larch in mixed plantation was obviously higher than that of its pure plantatio n, whereas the available P and K contents in the rhizosphere of walnut in the mi xed plantation, on the other hand, were significantly higher than those of its p ure plantation.

文摘Soil samples were taken from rhizosphere zone and off-rhizosphere zone of ash (Fraxinus mandshurica Rupr.) and larch (Larix olgensis Henry) in mixed and monoculture stands, and the nutrient concentration of N, P, and K was analyzed to study the effect of nutrients variation on yield improvement in the mixed stand. The result showed that: 1) The stand level total soil N concentration and available N in the mixed stand was similar to that in the monoculture stand of ash, but higher than that in monoculture stand of larch. The total N and available N concentration in rhizosphere soil of ash in the mixed stand was similar to that in the monoculture stand of ash, but the available N concentration in rhizosphere of larch in mixed stand was much higher than in its monoculture. 2) The stand level total P, total K concentration in the mixed stand was similar to that in monocul-ture stands of both species, but available P and K was more concentrated in the mixed stand than in the monoculture stands of ash. The rhizosphere available P and K of ash in the mixed stand was 44.1% and 13.5% (for the 9-yr-old stands) and 79.6% and 25.6% (for the 21-yr-old stands) higher than that in its monoculture. The improvement of soil P and K availability in the mixed stand is concluded.
