This method, which is demonstrated by both theoretical interpreting and computer simulation, explains how to measure the wavefront slope difference between two sub apertures through the determination of image displacements on detector plane. It includes a fast and accurate digital algorithm for detecting wavefront disturbance, which is much suitable for realization in such electrical hardwares as digital signal processors.展开更多

Design/methodology/approach: We design different methods of using the SPSS hierarchical clustering module for co-occurrence matrices in order to compare these methods. We offer the correct syntax to deactivate the similarity algorithm for clustering analysis within the hierarchical clustering module of SPSS. Findings: When one inputs co-occurrence matrices into the data editor of the SPSS hierarchical clustering module without deactivating the embedded similarity algorithm, the program calculates similarity twice, and thus distorts and overestimates the degree of similarity. Practical implications: We offer the correct syntax to block the similarity algorithm for clustering analysis in the SPSS hierarchical clustering module in the case of co-occurrence matrices. This syntax enables researchers to avoid obtaining incorrect results. Originality/value: This paper presents a method of editing syntax to prevent the default use of a similarity algorithm for SPSS's hierarchical clustering module. This will help researchers, especially those from China, to properly implement the co-occurrence matrix when using SPSS for hierarchical cluster analysis, in order to provide more scientific and rational results.展开更多

The establishment of the case library is discussed, previous land conflict cases are archived in a structural representation format for retrieval, and the similarity algorithm is adopted to compare the case features. Group tests show a good classification performance, which reveals that the system is feasible.展开更多

Funnel clouds occurred under weak synoptic forcing between May and September between 11 am and 6 pm Alaska Daylight Time with a maximum occurrence in July. They occurred under Convective Available Potential Energy >500 J·kg-1 and strong low-level wind shear. Characteristic atmospheric profiles during funnel cloud events served to develop a retrieval algorithm based on similarity testing. Out of more than 129,000 soundings between 1971 and 2014, 2724, 442, and 744 profiles were similar to the profiles of observed funnel cloud events in the Interior, Alaska West Coast, and Anchorage regions. While the number of reported funnel clouds has increased since 2000, the frequency of synoptic situations favorable for such events has decreased.展开更多

The algorithm adopts Sobel operator to deal with subgraph and template image, and regards the region which has maximum relevance as final result. In order to solve time-consuming problem existing in original algorithm, a coarse-to-fine matching method is put forward. Besides, the location correlation keeps updating and remains the minimum value in the whole scanning process, which can significantly decrease time consumption. Experiments show that the algorithm proposed in this article can not only overcome gray distortion, but also ensure accuracy. Time consumption is at least one time orders of magnitude shorter than that of primal algorithm.展开更多
