Farabi defines "Ilm al-Hiyal" (mechanic) in Ihsa al-Ulum as "knowing a way by which, human can adjust all of the concepts that have been proved in mathematics with verification to exotic objects, and helps their ...Farabi defines "Ilm al-Hiyal" (mechanic) in Ihsa al-Ulum as "knowing a way by which, human can adjust all of the concepts that have been proved in mathematics with verification to exotic objects, and helps their states in exotic objects to be carried". He believes this will be recognized and be attained by craft (sana'at, art). This was the common view in Islamic wisdom and philosophy in third and fourth Hijra centuries (9 & 10 CE). Researchers believe that the unique emphasis on parallelism between theoretical science and practical work is an important feature of Baghdad school and affected Islamic visual culture. Baghdad school had been affected by translation. In this way, Ikhwan-al-Safa, whom wrote the first encyclopedia of science in Islamic culture, had a very efficient role. They devised geometry into intellectual and sensual ones in the second part of their book, al-Rasa-el, and considered intellectual geometry as one of the middle philosophy and recognition and understanding factor for meaning of sensual geometry evidences. They insisted on basic situation of intellectual geometry in guidance of whom, want to learn intellectual things from sensual ones. They knew intellectual geometry as the factor for requiring skill in scientific crafts (sana'at), and sensual geometry as the factor of practical crafts, and made a vast relation between them. They also defined end of intellectual geometry understanding the base of all sciences and the main factor of wise, essence of self (nafs). Important feature of Ikhwan-al-Safa's wisdom is omitting the gap between theory and practice, making a vast relation between them, which affected the meaning of crafts in Islamic culture, and rendered a spiritual feature to crafts and arts. It seems this relation has created the concept of traditional arts, and integrating wisdom and crafts in Iranian-Islamic culture constructed all of the Fotowat-Nam e (book of Chivalry). In th...The term martial art is used as a heading to discuss a wide range of combative styles; however, the term is deployed in ways that exposes a disconnection between the term and the styles to which it is referring. In this paper, I explore the disconnection between the martial arts and posit that martial art is an oxymoron as described by Michel de Certeau. As an alternative to the oxymoronic use of martial art, I examine two conceptions of practice: the first advanced by Alasdair Maclntyre and applied to martial arts by Charles Hackney; the second advanced by Todd May and amended with ideas from Noel Carroll. The latter conception of practice begins to establish a new way to consider the relationships among the combative styles and how these can be incorporated into the term martial arts, thereby quelling the disconnection between the term and the styles.展开更多

The global epidemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has affected the behavior and consciousness of people.Fears associated with their own death,the death of loved ones,uncertainty in the future,insecurity and vulnerabili...The global epidemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has affected the behavior and consciousness of people.Fears associated with their own death,the death of loved ones,uncertainty in the future,insecurity and vulnerability combined with a new vision of the world around us,nature,their physicality,the value of other people,the value of society in general and their place in it.Various emotions,anxieties,and new discoveries found their expression in the pieces of art created during the pandemic and bearing its imprint.The new conditions influenced not only the content of the expositions of modern museums,but also the activities of the museum as a whole.That tendency conduced the relocation of the transfer of expositions to open spaces,emerging of the new exhibition formats,the active development of Internet projects,the creation of social clubs and groups to support each other by people in a pandemic.Thus,the contemporary museum takes on a new role.In a crisis,it becomes a place where it is possible to master complex emotions with the help of art,a platform for discussions,exchange of their impressions,experiences,with the aim of helping people find emotional balance and hope in the future in a crisis.展开更多

This study was aimed to explore the feasibility of introducing two mainstream AI drawing applications,Midjournal and Stable Diffusion,into the environmental art and design courses in higher education institutions.On t...This study was aimed to explore the feasibility of introducing two mainstream AI drawing applications,Midjournal and Stable Diffusion,into the environmental art and design courses in higher education institutions.On the basis of introducing the development history of AI drawing technology,the characteristics of Midjournal and Stable Diffusion and their applications in teaching were described in detail.The analysis on its practical application in public space design courses showed that AI drawing technology could significantly improve students’creative efficiency and the possibility of artistic creation,while also enriching the expressive power of design.In spite of the challenges such as technical accuracy,response to complex design requirements,hardware dependencies,and student dependencies,the application of AI drawing technology had an overall positive prospects in the field of education.Finally,the value of AI drawing technology in teaching was emphasized,and the challenges it brought were discussed,as well as how to fully utilize this technology while maintaining teaching objectives and educational principles.展开更多

Thus, we will try to briefly e...The recent social processes that are striking the Republic of Macedonia are distorting the nature of many sophisticated socio-anthropological phenomena, including the artistic practices. Thus, we will try to briefly elaborate on several tendencies about contemporary art in the Republic of Macedonia, by "screening" the theoretical discourses on the issue and by critical perception of recent practices concerning the field. Today's views on the creative practices, incorporated in "conceptual" packages that should develop a new culture of living, are manifested in the creative industries, have been just recently recognized in the Macedonian society. The "propaganda" character of the treatment of artistic practice changes only formally the media of their manifestations. The idea about the possible and necessary engaged attitude of art towards society had its place also in the modern as well in the postmodern concept of art. In the Republic of Macedonia this "ideological" attitude towards art regretfully has also become the main mechanism for political domination, manifested mainly in architecture and landscaping of public space. The commercialisation of art supported by the media imposes the discourses of popular art over the content of high art. It seems that art is represented in the field of "education and science" in the Republic of Macedonia only when certain pragmatic, frequently politicised, interests need to be satisfied.展开更多

The fear of the unknown, uncertainties of the forest, river, mountain, seas, oceans, lightening, thunder, and the changing weather, brings her artists in constant contact with their spirituality. Over time, these artists have demonstrated their inherent ability to perceive, through their various art practices, the unseen, speak the unspoken, revere and share in the silent salient world of their ancestors, as well as preserve it for posterity. This paper presents an insight into the Igbo cultural society with reference to her indigenous and contemporary art practices.
