The automatic collection of power grid situation information, along with real-time multimedia interaction between the front and back ends during the accident handling process, has generated a massive amount of power grid data. While wireless communication offers a convenient channel for grid terminal access and data transmission, it is important to note that the bandwidth of wireless communication is limited. Additionally, the broadcast nature of wireless transmission raises concerns about the potential for unauthorized eavesdropping during data transmission. To address these challenges and achieve reliable, secure, and real-time transmission of power grid data, an intelligent security transmission strategy with sensor-transmission-computing linkage is proposed in this paper. The primary objective of this strategy is to maximize the confidentiality capacity of the system. To tackle this, an optimization problem is formulated, taking into consideration interruption probability and interception probability as constraints. To efficiently solve this optimization problem, a low-complexity algorithm rooted in deep reinforcement learning is designed, which aims to derive a suboptimal solution for the problem at hand. Ultimately, through simulation results, the validity of the proposed strategy in guaranteed communication security, stability, and timeliness is substantiated. The results confirm that the proposed intelligent security transmission strategy significantly contributes to the safeguarding of communication integrity, system stability, and timely data delivery. 展开更多

Wireless Power Transfer(WPT)technology can provide real-time power for many terminal devices in Internet of Things(IoT)through millimeterWave(mmWave)to support applications with large capacity and low latency.Although the intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)can be adopted to create effective virtual links to address the mmWave blockage problem, the conventional solutions only adopt IRS in the downlink from the Base Station(BS)to the users to enhance the received signal strength. In practice, the reflection of IRS is also applicable to the uplink to improve the spectral efficiency. It is a challenging to jointly optimize IRS beamforming and system resource allocation for wireless energy acquisition and information transmission. In this paper,we first design a Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEACH)clustering protocol for clustering and data collection. Then, the problem of maximizing the minimum system spectral efficiency is constructed by jointly optimizing the transmit power of sensor devices, the uplink and downlink transmission times, the active beamforming at the BS,and the IRS dynamic beamforming. To solve this non-convex optimization problem,we propose an alternating optimization(AO)-based joint solution algorithm.Simulation results show that the use of IRS dynamic beamforming can significantly improve the spectral efficiency of the system, and ensure the reliability of equipment communication and the sustainability of energy supply under NLOS link. 展开更多

The classical minimization of power losses in transmission lines is dominated by artificial intelligence techniques, which do not guarantee global optimum amidst local minima. Revolutionary and evolutionary techniques are encumbered with sophisticated transformations, which weaken the techniques. Power loss minimization is crucial to the efficient design and operation of power transmission lines. Minimization of losses is one way to meet steady grid supply, especially at peak demand. Thus, this paper has presented a gradient technique to obtain optimal variables and values from the power loss model, which efficiently minimizes power losses by modifying the traditional power loss model that combines Ohm and Corona losses. Optimality tests showed that the unmodified model does not support the minimization of power losses on transmission lines as the Hessian matrix portrayed the maximization of power losses. However, the modified model is consistent with the gradient method of optimization, which yielded optimum variables and values from the power loss model developed in this study. The unmodified (modified) models for Bujagali-Kawanda 220 kV and Masaka West-Mbarara North 132 kV transmission lines in Uganda showed maximum power losses of 0.406 (0.391) and 0.452 (0.446) kW/km/phase respectively. These results indicate that the modified model is superior to the unmodified model in minimizing power losses in the transmission lines and should be implemented for the efficient design and operation of power transmission lines within and outside Uganda for the same transmission voltages. 展开更多

An experimental study is conducted on several retro-reflective beamforming schemes for wireless power transmission to multiple wireless power receivers(referred to herein as“targets”).The experimental results demonstrate that, when multiple targets broadcast continuous-wave pilot signals at respective frequencies,a retro-reflective wireless power transmitter is capable of generating multiple wireless power beams aiming at the respective targets as long as the multiple pilot signals are explicitly separated from one another by the wireless power transmitter. However, various practical complications are identified when the pilot signals of multiple targets are not appropriately differentiated from each other by the wireless power transmitter.Specifically, when multiple pilot signals are considered to be carried by the same frequency, the wireless power transmission performance becomes heavily dependent on the interaction among the pilot signals, which is highly undesirable in practice. In conclusion,it is essential for a retro-reflective wireless power transmitter to explicitly discriminate multiple targets’pilot signals among each other. 展开更多

This work presents an optimal design method of antenna aperture illumination for microwave power transmission with an annular collection area. The objective is to maximize the ratio of the power radiated on the annular collection area to the total transmitted power.By formulating the aperture amplitude distribution through a summation of a special set of series, the optimal design problem can be reduced to finding the maximum ratio of two real quadratic forms.Based on the theory of matrices, the solution to the formulated optimization problem is to determine the largest characteristic value and its associated characteristic vector. To meet security requirements, the peak radiation levels outside the receiving area are considered to be extra constraints.A hybrid grey wolf optimizer and Nelder–Mead simplex method is developed to deal with this constrained optimization problem. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, numerical experiments on continuous apertures are conducted;then, discrete arrays of isotropic elements are employed to validate the correctness of the optimized results. Finally, patch arrays are adopted to further verify the validity of the proposed method. 展开更多

Recent digital applications will require highly efficient and high-speed gadgets and it is related to the minimum delay and power consumption. The proposed work deals with a low-power clock pulsed data flip-flop(D flip-flop)using a transmission gate.To accomplish a power-efficient pulsed D flip-flop,clock gating is proposed. The gated clock reduces the unnecessary switching of the transistors in the circuit and thus reduces the dynamic power consumption. The clock gating approach is employed by using an AND gate to disrupt the clock input to the circuit as per the control signal called Enable.Due to this process, the clock gets turned off to reduce power consumption when there is no change in the output. The proposed transmission gate-based pulsed D flip-flop’s performance with clock gating and without clock gating circuit is analyzed. The proposed pulsed D flip-flop power consumption is 1.586μw less than the without clock gated flip-flop.Also,the authors have designed a 3-bit serial-in and parallel-out shift register using the proposed D flip-flop and analyzed the performance.Tanner Electronic Design Automation tool is used to simulate all the circuits with 45 nm technology. 展开更多

To improve the vehicular power and acceleration performance and reduce the shift impact, the study of the characteristics on power shift is necessary. Based on the flexible hydraulic unit of hydro-mechanical transmission, this paper explores the feasibility of shift without power interruption. With the four models concerning displacement ratio, rotational speed, rotational torque and power at ideal shift point, the characteristics on power shift in different running conditions are analyzed, and the rules of power shift are revealed. The theoretical analysis and test results show that the hydro-mechanical transmission can shift without power interruption in different running conditions. Furthermore, there exists an ideal shift point in theory, at which point the cycle power in hydro-mechanical transmission can't be generated, and the impact on the system can be reduced to the minimum. However, if before or after this ideal shift point, a cycle power can be generated. 展开更多

Due to the merits of high inspection speed and long detecting distance, Ultrasonic Guided Wave(UGW) method has been commonly applied to the on-line maintenance of power transmission line. However, the guided wave propagation in this structure is very complicated, leading to the unfavorable defect localization accuracy. Aiming at this situation, a high precision UGW technique for inspection of local surface defect in power transmission line is proposed. The technique is realized by adopting a novel segmental piezoelectric ring transducer and transducer mounting scheme, combining with the comprehensive characterization of wave propagation and circumferential defect positioning with multiple piezoelectric elements. Firstly, the propagation path of guided waves in the multi-wires of transmission line under the proposed technique condition is investigated experimentally. Next, the wave velocities are calculated by dispersion curves and experiment test respectively, and from comparing of the two results, the guided wave mode propagated in transmission line is confirmed to be F(1,1) mode. Finally, the axial and circumferential positioning of local defective wires in transmission line are both achieved, by using multiple piezoelectric elements to surround the stands and send elastic waves into every single wire. The proposed research can play a role of guiding the development of highly effective UGW method and detecting system for multi-wire transmission line. 展开更多

Solar PV is expected to become the most cost-competitive renewable energy owing to the rapidly decreasing cost of the system. On the other hand, hydropower is a high-quality and reliable regulating power source that can be bundled with solar PV to improve the economic feasibility of long-distance transmitted power. In this paper, a quantification model is established taking into account the regulating capacity of the reservoir, the characteristics of solar generation, and cost of hydro and solar PV with long-distance transmission based on the installed capacity ratio of hydro–solar hybrid power. Results indicate that for hydropower stations with high regulating capacity and generation factor of approximately 0.5, a hydro–solar installed capacity ratio of 1:1 will yield overall optimal economic performance, whereas for hydropower stations with daily regulating capacity reservoir and capacity factor of approximately 0.65, the optimal hydro–solar installed capacity ratio is approximately 1:0.3. In addition, the accuracy of the approach used in this study is verified through operation simulation of a hydro–solar hybrid system including ultra high-voltage direct current(UHVDC) transmission using two case studies in Africa. 展开更多

Coupled-plate structures are widely used in the practical engineering such as aeronautical, civil and naval engineering etc.Limited works can be found on the vibration of the coupled-plate structure due to the increased mathematical complexity compared with the single plate structure. In order to study analytically the vibration characteristics and power transmission of the coupled-plate structure,an analytical model consisting of three coupled plates elastically restrained along boundary edges and elastically coupled with arbitrary angle is considered,in which four groups of springs are distributed consistently along each edge of the model to simulate the transverse shearing forces, bending moments,in-plane longitudinal forces and in-plane shearing forces separately. With elastic coupling condition and general boundary condition of both flexural and in-plane vibrations taken into account by setting the stiffness of corresponding springs, the double Fourier series solution to the dynamic response of the structure was obtained by employing the Rayleigh-Ritz method. In order to validate the model, the natural frequency and velocity response of the model are firstly checked against results published in literatures and the ANSYS data, and good agreement was observed. Then, numerical simulation of the effects of several relevant parameters on the vibration characteristics and power transmission of the coupled structure were performed, including boundary conditions, coupling conditions, coupling angle, and location of the external forces.Vibration and energy transmission behaviors were analyzed numerically. The results show that the power transmission can be significantly influenced by the boundary restraints and the location of excitation. When the excitation is located at the central symmetry point of the model, the energy flow shows a symmetrical distribution.Once the location deviates from the central symmetry point, the power circumfluence occurs and the vortex energy field is formed at high frequency. 展开更多

After the construction of Qinghai-Tibet Highway and Railway, the Qinghai-Tibet Power Transmission(QTPT) line is another major permafrost engineering project with new types of engineering structures. The changing process and trend of ground temperature around tower foundations are crucial for the stability of QTPT. We analyzed the change characteristics and tendencies of the ground temperature based on field monitoring data from 2010 to 2014. The results reveal that soil around the tower foundations froze and connected with the artificial permafrost induced during the construction of footings after the first freezing period, and the soil below the original permafrost table kept freezing in subsequent thawing periods. The ground temperature lowered to that of natural fields, fast or slowly for tower foundations with thermosyphons, while for tower foundations without thermosyphons, the increase in ground temperature resulted in higher temperature than that of natural fields. Also, the permafrost temperature and ice content are significant factors that influence the ground temperature around tower foundations. Specifically, the ground temperature around tower foundations in warm and ice-rich permafrost regions decreased slowly, while that in cold and ice poor permafrost regions cooled faster. Moreover, foundations types impacted the ground temperature, which consisted of different technical processes during construction and variant of tower footing structures. The revealed changing process and trend of the ground temperature is beneficial for evaluating the thermal regime evolution around tower foundations in the context of climate change. 展开更多

With the structure of two air gaps and two rotors, the electromagnetic continuously variable transmission(EMCVT) is a novel power-split continuously variable transmission(CVT). There are two kinds of power flowing through the EMCVT, one is mechanical power and the other is electric power. In the mean time, there are three power ports in the EMCVT, one is the outer rotor named mechanical power port and the other two are the inner rotor and the stator named electric power ports. The mechanical power port is connected to the driving wheels through the final gear and the electric ports are connected to the batteries through the transducers. The two kinds of power are coupled on the outer rotor of the EMCVT. The EMCVT can be equipped on the conventional vehicle being regarded as the CVT and it also can be equipped on the hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) as the multi-energy sources assembly. The power flows of these two kinds of applications are analysed. The back electromotive force(EMF) equations are illatively studied and so the dynamic mathematic model is theorized. In order to certify the feasibility of the above theories, three simulations are carried out in allusion to the above two kinds of mentioned applications of the EMCVT and a five speed automatic transmission(AT) vehicle. The simulation results illustrate that the efficiency of the EMCVT vehicles is higher than that of the AT vehicle owed to the optimized operation area of the engine. Hence the fuel consumption of the EMCVT vehicles is knock-down. 展开更多

The symbol-error-rate(SER) and power allocation for hybrid cooperative(HC) transmission system are investigated.Closed-form SER expression is derived by using the moment generating function(MGF)-based approach. However, the resultant SER contains an MGF of the harmonic mean of two independent random variables(RVs),which is not tractable in SER analysis. We present a simple MGF expression of the harmonic mean of two independent RVs which avoids the hypergeometric functions used commonly in previous studies.Using the simple MGF,closed-form SER for HC system with M-ary phase shift keying(M-PSK) signals is provided.Further,an approximation as well as an upper bound of the SER is presented. It is shown that the SER approximation is asymptotically tight.Based on the tight SER approximation, the power allocation of the HC system is investigated. It is shown that the optimal power allocation does not depend on the fading parameters of the source-destination(SD) channel and it only depends on the source-relay(SR) and relay-destination(RD) channels. Moreover, the performance gain of the power allocation depends on the ratio of the channel quality between RD and SR.With the increase of this ratio, more performance gain can be acquired. 展开更多

Electrical pollution is a worldwide concern, because it is potentially harmful to human health.Trees not only play a significant role in moderating the climate, but also can be used as shields against electrical pollution.Shielding effects on the electric field strength under transmission lines by two tree species,Populus alba and Larix gmelinii, were examined in this study. The electrical resistivity at different heights of trees was measured using a PiCUS sonic tomograph, which can image the electrical impedance for trees. The electric field strength around the trees was measured with an elf field strength measurement system,HI-3604,and combined with tree resistivity to develop a model for calculating the electric field intensity around trees using the finite element method. In addition, the feasibility of the finite element method was confirmed by comparing the calculated results and experimental data. The results showed that the trees did reduce the electric field strength. The electric field intensity was reduced by 95.6%,and P.alba was better than L.gmelinii at shielding. 展开更多

Based on Newton ' s second law,the bend-torsion-shaft coupling nonlinear dynamic model and equations of power split gear transmission system are established.According to the principle of tooth profile modification, the tooth profile modification is considered as time-varying gear backlash function acting along the line of action. Then the dynamic functions are solved by using Runge-Kutta numerical method. After analyzing the effect of tooth profile modification quantity( TPMQ) and relative tooth profile modification length( TPML) to the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of power split gear transmission, the following conclusions are drawn:1 The TPMQ of a certain stage transmission affects the vibration of its own stage more significantly than the other stage, and the coupling effect between two stages can be ignored usually in the modification design;2 If the first stage TPMLs are less than 0.3,the influence of the first stage TPMLs to the first stage transmission vibration is much more greatly than the influence of the second stage TPMLs to the first stage transmission vibration,or else both the first and second stage TPMLs affect the first stage transmission vibration largely. The same is true for the second stage TPMLs,and the cutoff value is 0.2;3 The TPMQ affects the vibration of power split gear transmission system more principally than the TPML,and should be top-priority in the modification design. 展开更多

The access to electricity in rural areas is extremely limited, but it is crucial for all citizens. The population in rural areas of sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries is generally low, making it economically unfeasible to implement traditional rural electrification (CRE) projects due to the high cost of establishing the necessary distribution infrastructure. To address this cost issue, one alternative technology for rural electrification (URE) that can be explored is the Capacitor Coupled Substation (CCS) technology. CCS is a cost-effective solution for supplying electricity to rural areas. The research is necessitated by the need to offer a cost-effective technology for supplying electricity to sparsely populated communities. This paper examines the impact on the transmission network when a 400 kV/400V CCS is connected to it. The system response when a CCS is connected to the network was modeled using MATLAB/Si-mulink. The results, based on the fixed load of 80 kW, showed negligible interference on the transmission line voltage. However, there was minor impact on the parameters downstream of the tapping point. These findings were further supported by introducing a fault condition to the CCS, which showed that interferences with the CCS could affect the overall stability of the transmission network downstream of the tapping node, similar to the behavior of an unstable load. 展开更多
