Spatial Protection and Development of Traditional Mountain Settlements from the Perspective of Self-organization : A Case Study of Anju Ancient Town in Tongliang District, Chongqing

Through literature research, field research and urban design analysis methods, based on the self-organization theory, the evolution characteristics of the settlement space of Anju Ancient Town with significant characteristics of traditional mountain settlements were analyzed, and then its internal and external influencing factors were summarized. Finally, appropriate protection and development strategies were proposed, such as reasonably planning functional zones, breaking through the single structure, and creating a good living cultural environment. The innovation of this study is that it integrates the self-organization theory into the cognition of traditional mountain settlement space, and discusses the connection between the mountain settlement space and the traditional regional context under the modern development concept, so as to seek the benign protection and reasonable development of traditional mountain settlement space.

The Problems and Measures for Small Tourism Town Development in China:A Case Study of Wan Town

With the rapid development of tourism and urbanization in China,small tourism towns gradually grow toward prosperity.This paper takes Wan Town as an example to analyze the problem and countermeasures concerning the development of small tourism towns in China.There are a series of issues in the process of development of Wan Town,which includes uncoordinated architectural style,inaccurate market positioning,repeated cultural themes,and vulnerable linkage of the industrial chain.Based on the factor analysis,these development issues were classified into three categories:confusing architectural style,repetitive cultural theme,and weak linkage of industrial chain.To achieve the goal of sustainable development of small tourism towns,some countermeasures must be taken which include promoting the development of small tourism towns with the new rural revitalization,strengthening services improvement in small tourism towns,gathering industrial elements related to the tourism industry,and increasing tourism cultural connotation.

Problems in the Development of Small Cities and Towns in West China and Countermeasures: A Case Study of Luzhou City, Sichuan Province

New urbanization targets at coordinated urban-rural development, and construction of ecological and livable environment, it is the foundation for breaking urban-rural dual structure of China and promoting the agricultural modernization. Small cities and towns as carriers of new urbanization have already become important paths of realizing new urbanization and solving problems concerning 300 million peasants in China. Considering the requirements of new urbanization, this paper took Luzhou City in Sichuan Province for example to explore development path suitable for small cities and towns in west China and gave pertinent suggestions.

Regional Economic Types and Development Strategy of Small Towns in Suburb Beijing

The purpose of this article is to classify the regional economic types and development dynamics of small towns in suburb Beijing by applying the classification methods developed by Nelson's method and Location Quotient method into 183 small towns in Beijing.Four types of small towns are thus identified,including urban agriculture dominated towns,manufacturing dominated towns,service industry dominated towns and comprehensive type towns with balanced economic development.Within the environment of geographical information system,the spatial distribution pattern of four types of small towns with their evolution trend is analyzed.The results indicate that four types of small towns have obvious'core-periphery'spatial structure but with different functional orientations and evolution mechanisms.Based on this,the different development strategies for each type of small towns are summarized,providing a scientific reference for the differentiating planning and development strategies of these small towns.

Species-specific regulatory pathways of small RNAs play sophisticated roles in flower development in Dimocarpus longan Lour.

Flower development plays vital role in horticultural plants.Post-transcriptional regulation via small RNAs is important for plant flower development.To uncover post-transcriptional regulatory networks during the flower development in Dimocarpus longan Lour.‘Shixia’,an economically important fruit crop in subtropical regions,we collected and analyzed sRNA deep-sequencing datasets and degradome libraries Apart from identifying miRNAs and phased siRNA generating loci(PHAS loci),120 hairpin loci,producing abundant sRNAs,were identified by in-house protocols.Our results suggested that 56 miRNA-target pairs,2221-nt-PHAS loci,and 111 hairpin loci are involved in posttranscriptional gene silencing during longan reproductive development.Lineage-specific or species-specific post-transcriptional regulatory modules have been unveiled,including miR482-PHAS and miRN15.miR482-PHAS might be involved in longan flower development beyond their conserved roles in plant defense,and miRN15 is a novel miRNA likely associated with a hairpin locus(HPL-056)to regulate strigolactone receptor gene DWARF14(D14)and the biogenesis of phasiRNAs from D14.These small RNAs are enriched in flower buds,suggesting they are likely involved in post-transcriptional regulatory networks essential for longan flower development via the strigolactone signaling pathway.

Micro-reconstruction Strategies of Urban Villages in Small Towns from the Perspective of Policy Orientation:A Case Study of Zhuangqian Xiongjia Village,Fengcheng City

As China’s economy shifts from high-speed development to high-quality development,China’s urbanization also shifts from incremental expansion to stock optimization,providing a new direction for the transformation of urban villages.At present,the reconstruction work office of urban villages in small towns is mainly promoted based on government-led and villager main body in the initial exploration stage.From the perspective of policy orientation,to solve the main problems in urban villages in small towns,Zhuangqian Xiongjia Village,Fengcheng City was taken as an example,and the micro-transformation strategies of urban villages were put forward from the perspective of satisfying the appeals of the government,village committee and villagers,so as to provide some references for the transformation of urban villages in other small towns across the country.

Discussion on the Problems and Developing Trend of Construction of Sewage Treatment Plants in Small Towns

Existing problems of sewage treatment plants in small towns were summarized firstly,and then the developing trend of construction of sewage treatment plants in small towns was discussed from the aspects of project decision,site selection,design,processing technology and construction financing models. Finally,outlooks for its future development were proposed to provide reference for the construction of sewage treatment plants in small towns in future.

Development Paths of Characteristic Towns in Underdeveloped Areas in Central China——A Case Study of Yichun,Jiangxi

The demonstration effect triggered by the construction of Zhejiang's characteristic towns has attracted attention and learning from all over the country,and has set off a boom in building characteristic towns across the country. Under the dual constraints of industrial development and resource intensive use,the undeveloped areas of central China must find suitable development paths for characteristic towns. Taking Yichun City as an example,this article analyzes the advantages of Yichun City for developing characteristic towns combining its natural and economic conditions. In addition,the characteristic town development paths,such as vigorously promoting the construction of urban facilities,highlighting the characteristics relying on existing small towns,constructing an industrial chain of " ecology + leisure",highlighting cultural charm,and improving development grade,are proposed to provide useful reference for the development of characteristic towns in this type of underdeveloped cities in central China.

Green development model and cultivating path for characteristic small town

In the context of the new urbanization,the characteristic town,as a new hotspot to developing rapidly to explore the industry,humanities,community integration town model,a urbanization and high-tech industry development booster,by the government and developers attention.At the same time,the green development model applies to the characteristic town of industrial upgrading and transformation,guiding the future characteristic town of green economic industry development direction.This paper studies the green development model of the characteristic town,and puts forward the implementation of the green industry through the greening industry structure,promoting green consumption and optimizing the green management.

Exploration of the Protective Development Model of Ancient Towns in Metropolitan Suburbs: A Case Study of Xinchang Ancient Town in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai

The protection of ancient towns has become a crucial link in the coordinated regional development in China.On the basis of the field investigation,this paper took Xinchang Ancient Town in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai for example to analyze the existing problems in the protection and development of ancient towns,such as narrow economic base,loss of aboriginal culture and vague orientation of urban-rural function,and proposed a protective development model stressing the synergetic development of culture,economy and ecology.That model was designed to enhance local economic competitiveness through the multi-industry linkage,encourage the mass participation,reshape local cultural identity,improve regional ecological environment and optimize the function of Xinchang Ancient Town so that the protection of ancient towns is integrated into the top-level design of the regional comprehensive development.

The Development Model of Tourism-Based Retirement Towns

Based on the analysis of the tourism-based retirement model, this paper proposed five types of retirement towns, which combined the eldercare industry with ecological conditions, the style and features of ancient towns, traditional culture, the artistic environment, and medical care, and put forward relevant planning strategies from five aspects, namely, site selection, silver industry chain, functional demand, operation management mode, and safety guarantee system, providing a reference for the construction and development of domestic tourism-based retirement towns.

Should China Develop Small Cities and Towns?

Given its national conditions,China cannot simply copy the European and American model of modernization, which was driven by industrialization. The Communist Party of China adopted a "small city and town" strategy in 1998 in recognition of the success of towns that thrived even without state investment.However,this development strategy also faces a series of challenges.China should draw on international experiences and prevent the emergence of social malaises such as slums,mafia groups and crimes that occurred in some other large developing countries with a population of above 100 million.The key to developing small cities and towns in China is to reform the ownership of rural community land and township enterprises,reform local governance structure,and balance the relationship between statutory towns and village self-governance.

Solidified Branding Function: How the Urban Brand Affects a Small Town’s Development? Case Study of Wangqingtuo, Tianjin, China

Chinese small towns are usually developed with single core industry,and the urban brand is the identity of a town that formed with the development of its industry.However,when the core industry representing its urban brand is facing a changing situation or market,will the brand be a motivation or an obstruction of the development of a town?The paper combined top-down and bottom-up research method to study the function of the urban brand in Wangqingtuo town in Tianjin,China.We studied over 400 samples(including government staff and town citizens)to make questionnaire investigation about the town’s branding.And we found that the solidified urban brand is a complicated emotional symbol for both government and citizens.The town has demand of exploring and developing new dominant industry,and it has the expectation to keep branding and upgrade its current core industry.

Integrated Development of the Tourism and Protection of Ancient Towns

Local color is not only the cultural counter in the competition between cities,but the main cultural element that attracts foreign tourists.In recent years,many cities have regarded tourism development as a major mean of reviving ancient towns.The excavation of local culture,material reconstruction of local characteristics,and the resurgence and"reproduction"of local industries have become an important work in the tourism development of ancient towns.Apart from the discussion of the protection,inheritance,and touristification of tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage,this paper demonstrated the possibility of the integration and production capacity of local characteristic industry resources and analyzed the impact of the integrated development on the lifestyle and living atmosphere of residents in the ancient towns.In this paper,ways to realize the integrated development of the tourism and protection of ancient towns were included as follows:(1)to ensure the principal status of local residents and give full play to their initiatives;(2)to protect the local traditional way of life and improve the public service system;(3)to choose the appropriate development pattern and achieve the diversified development;(4)to improve service facilities in tourism and adjust the structure of tourism products.

Construction of Evaluation System for High-quality Development of Characteristic Towns from the Perspective of Production-Living-Ecology Integration

From the perspective of production-living-ecology integration,an evaluation system,involving production quality,living quality and ecological quality,was constructed in this article for high-quality development of characteristic towns.Using Delphi method and analytic hierarchy process,the indices selected based on experience were screened,and the evaluation indices retained were weighted.What's more,relevant suggestions for high-quality development of characteristic towns were put forward from the three aspects of production,living and ecology.

Discussion on the relationship between Construction of Forest Towns and Reform & Development of State-owned Forest Farms

In recent years, China's social economy has continued to develop. While paying attention to the pursuit of the economy, people are paying more and more attention to the pursuit of quality of life. China has vast territory and abundant resources, forest resources are particularly rich, in order to make full use of forest resources and regulate the use and protection of forests, China has promoted the development of forestry by deepening the construction and reform of state-owned forest farms, and using forest resources to obtain benefits to meet people's living needs. This paper explores the necessity and advantages of building a forest town by analyzing the reform and development situation of state-owned forest farms.

Building Characteristic Sports Towns——Opening A New Blue Ocean for the Economic Development of Sports Industry

When advancing the construction new-type urbanization was put forward to being an important move of urban economic development in the following decade in the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the characteristic towns' construction emerged as the times require. At the same time, the development of sports industry was lifted to a strategic height of national economic construction. This paper, taking the construction of characteristic sports town as the research object, with multiple research methods such as literature review method, case analysis method and expert interviews applied, makes "Building a Characteristic Sports Town" as the new economic growth pole of the development of sports industry, clearly analyzing the construction of sports town with PEST analytical method, which provides study and reference for opening up the new blue ocean for the economic development of sports industry.

Influence of new town development on the urban heat island-The case of the Bundang area

Five new towns have been developed around the Seoul metropolitan area since 1996 However, these new towns generate lots of traffic and related problems in the areas including those new towns and Seoul as a result of increases in population and a lack of ecological-self-sufficiency. Currently, construction of another new town is under deliberation, and what should be a major consider is the notion that the new town be located within a wide, green zone. Many studies have revealed that green space can play an important role in improving urban eco-meteorological capability and air quality. In order to analyze the urban heat island which will be created by the new urban development, and to investigate the local thermal environment and its negative effects caused by a change of land use type and urbanization, Landsat TM images were used for extraction of urban surface temperature according to changes of land use over the last 15 years. These data are analyzed together with digital land use and topographic information. As a study result, it was found the urban heat island of the study area from 1985 to 1999 rapidly developed which showed a difference of mean temperature above +2 0 Before the Bundang new town construction the temperature of the residential area was the same as a forest, but during the new town construction in 1991 analysis revealed the creation of an urban heat island. The temperature of a forest whose size is over 50% of the investigation area was lowest, and thus the presence of a forest is believed to have a direct cooling effect on the urban environment and its surroundings. The mean temperature of the residential and commercial areas in the study was found to be +4 5 higher than the forest, and therefore this part of land use is believed to be the main factor causing the temperature increase of the urban heat island.

The role of small vessel disease in development of Alzheimer's disease

Classically Alzheimer＇s disease and vascular dementia have been considered as two different entities, with their own clinical criteria, but relatively recent epidemiological and clinicopathological studies suggest an overlap between them sharing not only most of the risk factors and some clinical aspects but also pathophysiological mechanisms. Cerebrovascular lesions, especially small vessel disease （lacunar infarcts, white matter hyperintensities and microbleeds）, may magnify the effects of mild Alzheimer＇s disease pathology and promote the progression of cognitive decline and may also be a precursor of neuronal damage and dementia. ＂Vascular hypothesis＂ of Alzheimer＇s disease would open a window for new approaches and treatments.
