Separated preparation of prealloys and amorphous alloys results in severe solidification-remelting and beneficial element removal-readdition contradictions,which markedly increase energy consumption and emissions.This study offered a novel strategy for the direct production of FePC amorphous soft magnetic alloys via smelting reduction of high-phosphorus iron ore(HPIO)and apatite.First,the thermodynamic conditions and equilibrium states of the carbothermal reduction reactions in HPIO were calculated,and the element content in reduced alloys was theoretically determined.The phase and structural evolutions,as well as element migration and enrichment behaviors during the smelting reduction of HPIO and Ca_(3)(PO_(4))_(2),were then experimentally verified.The addition of Ca_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)in HPIO contributes to the enrichment of the P element in reduced alloys and the subsequent development of Fe_(3)P and Fe_(2)P phases.The content of P and C elements in the range of 1.52 wt% -14.63 wt% and 0.62 wt% -2.47 wt%,respectively,can be well tailored by adding 0-50 g Ca_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)and controlling the C/O mole ratio of 0.8-1.1,which is highly consistent with the calculated results.These FePC alloys were then successfully formed into amorphous ribbons and rods.The energy consumption of the proposed strategy was estimated to be 2.00×10^(8) kJ/t,which is reduced by 30% when compared with the conventional production process.These results are critical for the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources and pave the way for the clean production of Fe-based amorphous soft magnetic alloys. 展开更多

Addition of granulated coke can greatly decrease slag foaming extent in the process of smelting reduction with iron bath. The anti-foaming capacity of granulated coke is the best when the ratio of coke used for coke layer to total coke used in smelting reduction is controlled at about 20%. 展开更多

A new process for preparing high-purity iron(HPI)was proposed,and it was investigated by laboratory experiments and pilot tests.The results show that under conditions of a reduced temperature of 1075°C,reduced time of 5 h,and CaO content of 2.5wt%,a DRI with a metallization rate of 96.5%was obtained through coal-based direct reduction of ultra-high-grade iron concentrate.Then,an HPI with a Fe purity of 99.95%and C,Si,Mn,and P contents as low as 0.0008wt%,0.0006wt%,0.0014wt%,and 0.0015wt%,respectively,was prepared by smelting separation of the DRI using a smelting temperature of 1625°C,smelting time of 45 min,and CaO content of 9.3wt%.The product of the pilot test with a scale of 0.01 Mt/a had a lower impurity content than the Chinese industry standard.An HPI with a Fe purity of 99.98wt%can be produced through the direct reduction?smelting separation of ultra-high-grade iron concentrate at relatively low cost.The proposed process shows a promising prospect for application in the future. 展开更多

A high-temperature reduction and smelting process was used to recover iron and calcium aluminate slag from high-ferrous bauxite. The effects of w(CaO)/w(SiO_2) ratio, anthracite ratio, and reduction temperature and time on the recovery and size of iron nuggets and on the Al_2O_3 grade of the calcium aluminate slag were investigated through thermodynamic calculations and experiments. The optimized process conditions were the bauxite/anthracite/slaked lime weight ratio of 100:16.17:59.37, reduction temperature of 1450°C and reduction time of 20 min. Under these conditions, high-quality iron nuggets and calcium aluminate slag were obtained. The largest size and the highest recovery rate of iron nuggets were 11.42 mm and 92.79wt%, respectively. The calcium aluminate slag mainly comprised Ca_2 SiO_4 and Ca_(12)Al_(14)O_(33), with small amounts of Fe Al_2O_4, CaAl_2O_4, and Ca_2Al_2SiO_7. 展开更多

In order to reasonably utilize the abundant resources of high-phosphorus iron ore and ilmenite in China,the technology of top-blown smelting reduction with oxygen enrichment was used to smelt the mixed ore of high-phosphorus iron and ilmenite.The effect,which is related to basicity,reduction temperature,carbon-oxygen ratio and time of ventilated oxygen to iron recovery,dephosphorization rate,content of iron,phosphorus,sulfur and titanium in pig iron,was investigated in the experiment.The results show that an ideal outcome can be gained in condition of 6:4 ration on Mengqiao concentrate and Huimin iron ore,temperature of 1 500 °C,basicity of 1.3,1.0 on molar ration of carbon to oxygen,time of 10 min on blowing-oxygen.The outcome is that there is no foamy slag in generation,a good separation of slag and iron,iron recovery with 91.41%,content of phosphorus with 0.27% and tilanium content less than 0.001%.The atmosphere of strong oxidizing in the upper of reduction container and high potential of oxygen in the composition of slag in this technique bring phosphorus,titanium and silicon into slag,which ensures less content of impurity in pig iron. 展开更多

The corrosion resistance and microstructure of Al2O3-C based refractories in smelting reduction melts were studied and evaluated by the quasi-stationary immersion and rotary immersion test. The corrosion rate of the Al2O3-C based refractories is decreased with the addition of the graphite carbon and ZrO2. The test results showed that the ZrO2 containing bricks had much better corrosion resistance than the ZrO2- free bricks. The ZrO2 addition improved the oxidization resistance of the refractory and decreased the interaction rate between the melts and the refractory. The corrosion of the Al2O3-C based refractories is caused by both the interaction between melts and refractory and the dissolution of the refractory constituents into the melts. 展开更多

Reduction smelting of the bismuth oxide residue from pressure leaching of bismuth sulfide was investigated in the FeO-SiO_2-CaO ternary slag system.The results show that all the recovery ratios of Bi,Ag,Cu and Pb increase with the increase of reductive coal proportion,reaction temperature and time,while too much reductive coal would help Fe enter metal phase;CaO/SiO_2and Fe O/SiO_2 of the chosen slag system should be 0.5-0.75 and 1.25-1.75,respectively,for the reason that the slag system has the optimum mobility and is beneficial for the recovery of metals.The corresponding optimum conditions are determined as follows:the added coal proportion is 7%of the leaching residue,CaO/SiO_2 mass ratio in the chosen slag system is 0.5 and FeO-SiO_2 is 1.5,the reaction temperature is 1300°C and the reaction time is 40 min.Under the above conditions,the recovery ratios of Bi,Ag,Cu and Pb are 99.6%,99.8%,97.0%and 97.3%,respectively. 展开更多

To comprehensively utilize the low-iron high-vanadium-titanium magnetite,a new method of vortex smelting reduction of vanadium-titanium magnetite was proposed,and the enrichment and reconstitution regularity of Ti-bearing phases in the slag was investigated through X-ray fluorescence spectrometry,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction analysis,and optical microscopy.The phase diagram revealed that the preferential crystallization of MgTi_(2)O_(5) can be achieved by adjusting the CaO,MgO,and TiO_(2) contents of slag.The predominant Ti-bearing phases in the slag obtained from the reduction process are MgxTi_(3_x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1)and CaTiO_(3).FeTiO_(3) is present at carbon-iron ratio(CR)=1.3,while MgTi_(2)O4 and TiC are formed at CR=1.3.The enrichment of TiO_(2) in the slag increases first and then decreases as the CR increases,and at CR=1.1,the enrichment of TiO_(2) in the slag reaches 51.3 wt.%.Additionally,the concentrations of MgxTi_(3_x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1)and CaTiO_(3) in the slag,along with the grain width of MgxTi_(3_x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1),decrease with the increase in CR. 展开更多

Isothermal thermogravimetric analysis was used to study the reduction process of solid/liquid wustite by hydrogen.Results show that wustite in both states can be reduced entirely at all temperatures.The thermal and kinetic conditions for the hydrogen reduction of molten phases are better than those when the reactants and products are in the solid state,with a higher reaction rate.The hydrogen reduction of different wustite phases fits the Mampel Power model(power exponent n=1/2)well,and this model is independent of the phase state.The average apparent activation energies of the reduction process calculated by the iso-conversional method are 5.85 kJ·mol^(−1) and 104.74 kJ·mol^(−1),when both reactants and products are in the solid state and the molten state,respectively.These values generally agree with those calculated by the model fitting method. 展开更多

The solution behavior, including solubility, reactivity and sedimentation, of ZnO and ZnS in a Na_2CO_3-NaCl molten salt used for Sb smelting was investigated in the temperature range of 700-1000 oC. The saturated amount of dissolved ZnO in the molten salt remained constant at 0.02% and was unaffected by temperature; additionally, ZnO did not react with the molten salt. In contrast, the saturated amount of dissolved ZnS in the eutectic molten salt increased with increasing temperature, and the content of ZnS was 0.53% at 1000 oC. In addition, ZnS reacted with Na_2CO_3 above 900 oC to give ZnO. The sedimentation rates of these three species in the molten salt followed the order of Sb>ZnS>ZnO. It was thus concluded that ZnO is an appropriate sulfur-fixing agent for low-temperature Sb smelting in a Na_2CO_3-NaCl molten medium, and that the optimal smelting temperature is below 900 oC. 展开更多

When smelting reduction of chromium and nickel concentrate with C Si Al as compound reductive is conducted in a plasma induction furnace, the alloying target value of 18%Cr and 9%Ni could be achieved in 20 minutes, the recovery rate of Cr and Ni would reach 82 85% and 95 98% respectively.
