One of the most ...This article discusses problems of the non-equilibrium between current Chinese social strata in change and their impact on the social development and order in light of the social equilibrium theory. One of the most important challenges to China now is the relationship between the social development and social order. Social tension, social disruption, disequilibrium, and fragmentation are just a few terms that have been used to refer to that relationship. The author has to point out some neglected order-related issues, which are not as intense but nevertheless influential on our development. The author would like to suggest the term of “non-equilibrium” to incorporate all the social order problems. The reform and the implementation of the open policy have introduced many changes in the relationships between social strata; however, the legislation lag has led to the non-equilibrium between these social strata. It has also brought about means-end discordance among different strata, deviations of rationality of objectives from rationality of values, mismatches between subjective social cognition and objective status, and so on and so forth. In order to keep growing, China needs to launch legislation and take actions to rebalance the relationships between the social strata.展开更多
