Background Keratinocytes play a crucial role in the biological function of skin barrier.The relationship between sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and keratinocytes has been studied.However,the cytotoxicity and effects of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS),a common detergent similar to SLS,on keratinocytes are still not known.This study aimed to investigate the effects of SDBS on cytotoxicity and expression of proinflammatory cytokines in cultured human keratinocytes.Methods This study was carried out using the keratinocytes cell line,HaCaT cells.The cytotoxicity of SDBS on HaCaT cells was evaluated with cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and phase-contrast microscopy.After exposure to different concentrations of SDBS,the total RNA of the HaCaT cells was extracted for evaluating the relative mRNA expression of IL-1α,IL-6,IL-8,and TNF-α by qPCR.The supernatants of cells were collected for measuring the levels of IL-6 and IL-8 by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results SDBS at concentrations of 20 Jg/ml and over showed direct cytotoxicity and induced morphological changes of the HaCaT cells.The mRNA expressions of IL-1a,IL-6,IL-8,and TNF-α in different concentrations of SDBS at different time were comparable with that of controls.SDBS at concentrations of 5,10,and 15 μg/ml had no significant effects on IL-6 and IL-8 excretion from HaCaT cells after 24-hour exposure.Moreover,no significant effects on the IL-6 and IL-8 excretion were found after 10 and 15 μg/ml S DBS stimulations for 6,12,and 24 hours,respectively.Conclusion SDBS at higher concentrations had cytotoxicity on HaCaT cells but had no effects on the mRNA expression of IL-1α,IL-6,IL-8,and TNF-α,that was different from SLS. 展开更多

The molecular non-covalent interaction often originates from the electrostatic attraction and accords with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS)-polychrome blue B (PCB)-protein [bovine serum albumin (BSA), ovalbumin (OVA) and myoglobin (MB)] ternary reaction has been investigated at pH 3.88. Protein to replace PCB from the PCB-SDBS binding product was used to characterize the assembly of an invisible-spectral compound, SDBS, on proteins by measuring the variation of PCB light-absorption by the microsurface adsorption-spectral correction (MSASQ technique. The effect of ionic strength and temperature on the aggregation was studied. Results showed that the aggregates SDBS(92)(.)BSA, SDBS(58)(.)OVA and (SDBS15MB)-M-. at 30 degreesC and SDBS(83)(.)BSA, SDBS(39)(.)OVA and (SDBS10MB)-M-. at 50 degreesC are formed. 展开更多

Layered double hydroxides(LDHs)have been shown to be effective adsorbents for boron.However,solid-liquid separation is still a problem when separating boron from industrial radioactive waste liquid.In this research,three types of Mg-Al-LDHs including Mg-Al-LDH(NO_(3)^(-)),Mg-Al-LDH(Cl^(-))and Mg-Al-LDH(SO_(4)^(2-))were applied to adsorb boron,and moreover sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate(SDBS)was used to float the LDH particles from aqueous solution after boron adsorption.The results showed that 60 min was sufficient for the equilibrium adsorption of the three LDHs.The boron adsorption capacity of three LDHs was determined as follows:Mg-Al-LDH(NO_(3)^(-))>Mg-Al-LDH(Cl^(-))>Mg-Al-LDH(SO_(4)^(2-)),and was 2.0,0.98 and 0.2 mmol·g^(-1),each ranging from 0 to 80 mmol·L^(-1)with the initial boron concentration.The efficiency of boron removal by Mg-Al-LDH(NO_(3)^(-))and SDBS can reach up to 89.7%.Furthermore,the boron flotation mechanism of SDBS and LDHs has been studied,since SDBS as a flotation agent can react with LDHs and penetrate into the interlayer of LDHs in addition to electrostatic attraction.Therefore,LDHs in solution can be floated onto the foam layer to be separated from the solution,and the clarified solution was obtained.The method is simple and promising for boron removal from aqueous solution. 展开更多

Pure mineral flotation experiments, zeta potential testing, and infrared spectroscopy were employed to investigate the interracial reactions of oleic acid (collector), sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS, synergist), and rhodochrosite in an anionic system. The pure mineral test shows that oleic acid has a strong ability to collect products on rhodochrosite. Under neutral to moderately alkaline conditions, low temperature (e.g., 10℃) adversely affects the flotation performance of oleic acid; the addition of SDBS significantly improves the dis- persion and solubility of oleic acid, enhancing its collecting ability and flotation recovery. The zeta potential test shows that rhodochrosite interacts with oleic acid and SDBS, resulting in a more negative zeta potential and the co-adsorption of the collector and synergist at the mineral surface. Infrared spectroscopy demonstrated that when oleic acid and SDBS are used as a mixed collector, oleates along with -COO- and --COOH functional groups are formed on the mineral surface, indicating chemical adsorption on rhodochrosite. The results demonstrate that oleic acid and SDBS co-adsorb chemically on the surface ofrhodochrosite, thereby improving the flotation performance of the collector. 展开更多

The magnetic composite-materials(Fe3O4@SDBS@LDHs)were prepared by sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS)modified layered double hydroxides(SDBS@LDHs)with Fe3O4via co-precipitation method.The results of XRD,FT-IR and SEM/EDS indicated that the dispersibility of LDHs was improved,and the modification of SDBS took place on the surface of LDHs.The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4@SDBS@LDHs to brilliant green(BG)reaches329.1mg/g after the adsorption equilibrium.The thermodynamic parameters indicated that the adsorption process was endothermic and spontaneous,and the rate of a reaction increased with the raise of the reaction temperature.The Langmuir model was applicable for describing the sorption isotherms,indicating that the adsorption process is a monolayer adsorption.The results of kinetics study showed that adsorption fitted the pseudo-second order model well.The adsorbents still have good adsorption performance after four adsorption cycles.Moreover,the magnetic composite could be easily separated from aqueous solution.This indicated that Fe3O4@SDBS@LDHs can be considered as potential adsorbents in environmental applications for the removal of BG from aqueous solutions. 展开更多

ZnCo_2O_4 nanocluster particles(NCPs) were prepared through a designed hydrothermal method, with the assistance of a surfactant, sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate. The crystalline structure and surface morphology of ZnCo_2O_4 were investigated by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, and BET analyses. The results of SEM and TEM suggest a clear nanocluster particle structure of cubic ZnCo_2O_4(*100 nm in diameter), which consists of aggregated primary nanoparticles(*10 nm in diameter), is achieved. The electrochemical behavior of synthesized ZnCo_2O_4 NCPs was investigated by galvanostatic discharge/charge measurements and cyclic voltammetry. The ZnCo_2O_4 NCPs exhibit a high reversible capacity of 700 mAh g^(-1) over 100 cycles under a current density of 100 mA g^(-1) with an excellent coulombic efficiency of 98.9% and a considerable cycling stability. This work demonstrates a facile technique designed to synthesize ZnCo_2O_4 NCPs which show great potential as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. 展开更多

Engineering Nanoparticles(ENPs)’superior characteristics of adsorption depends on their dispersion in the medium.In this study,multi-walled carbon nanotubes(nonmetal),iron nanoparticles and silver nanoparticles(metallic simple substance),and Nano-TiO2,Nano-Fe2O3 and Nano-ZnO(metal oxide)were selected and respectively added into pure water and aqueous solution with 1%Sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS)surfactant.The dispersion effects were compared by leaving the solutions standing at room temperature under ultrasound.The results show that the dispersion of iron nanoparticles is the lowestamong the six ENPs,and that of multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCTS)is the highest.Adding anionic surfactants(SDBS)can obviously improve the dispersion performance of ENPs.The concentration of solution decreases by only 5%in 10 daysafter adding 1%SDBS for ultrasonic dispersion. 展开更多

Fluorescence characteristics of complex system of rare earth terbium (Tb3+), norfloxacin, 1,10-phenanthroline(1,10-phen) and sur- factant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) had been studied by using fluorescence spectroscopy. In a buffer solution (pH=6.3), the fluorescence intensity of the norfloxacin-Tb3+ (NFLX-Tb3+) system had been remarkably enhanced by SDBS and 1,10-Phen. When excited at 335 nm, a good linear relationship between fluorescence intensity of NFLX-Tb3+ system and NFLX concentration was obtained in the range of 8× 10-8-4× 10-6 mol/L, and the linear equation was F=2× 10^8 CNFLX+22.7 with correlation coefficient of 0.9959. In addition, this method was compared with some previous literatures, the proposed method had relatively higher sensitivity and lower detect limit. The method was sim- ple, rapid, sensitive, practical and suitable for direct analysis of pharmaceutical preparation. It was successfully applied to determine the cap- sules, human serum and urine in real pharmaceutical samples. 展开更多

Hierarchical tin oxide(SnO2) architectures were synthesized with a facile hydrothermal method. In the hydrothermal synthesis, sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) surfactant plays an important role as struc- ture-directing reagent. The synthesized samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), field emis- sion scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and high-resolution transmis- sion electron microscopy(HRTEM). The results clearly reveal that the hierarchical architectures of SnO2 were com- posed of aggregated nanosheets with a thickness of about 100 nm. A possible mechanism for the formation of the SnO2 hierarchical architectures was proposed. In addition, the gas sensing properties of the as-prepared products were investigated and it was found that the sensor based on the special SnO2 hierarchical architectures exhibited a high re- sponse and good selectivity to NO2 at the optimal working temperature of 160 ℃. 展开更多

The components and their concentration ratio of surfactant mixture in aqueous solution of gelatin and sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC) are very important during the preparation of stable microcapsules for electrophoretic display.In this work,hydrocarbon/fluorocarbon composite surfactant was introduced for the first time into the capsule wall to improve the chemical resistance and barrier property of the microcapsules.By investigating surface tension and zeta potential of NaCMC with the mixture of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/perfluoro-nonene oxy benzene sulfonate (OBS),we found that both the presence of hydrophobic interaction and the hydrogen bonding between NaCMC and SDS/OBS enhanced the adsorption of NaCMC at the oil/water interface and thus facilitated the formation of capsule wall.The morphology,particle size,surface free energy and thermal stability of the obtained microcapsules were characterized.The results showed that optically transparent microcapsules with uniform size,smooth surface and compact wall can be obtained by adjusting the pH value of the reaction system and the concentration ratio of SDS/OBS.Based on the prepared microcapsules,a matrix display prototype operated at 9 V direct current in static driven mode was fabricated. 展开更多
