[Method] 8 treatments were set to study the effects of the monoculture and mixed cropping of common vetch (Vicia gigantea Bge.), perennial ryegrass (Lofium) and rapeseed (Brassica campestris L.) on physi- cal and chemical properties of soil and economic characters of flue-cured tobacco. [Result] (1) Green manure turnover can reduce soil bulk density by 1.08%-8.62%, and the effect of green manure mixed cropping pattern was the best. (2) Green manure turnover also can increase the soil nutrient, soil organic matter, total nitro- gen (N), total phosphorus (P), total potassium (K), alkali-hydrolyzale N, rapidly available P and rapidly available K by 1.44%-6.10%, 0.01-0.12 g/kg, 1.89%- 11.32%, 0.12%-3.56%, 1.06%-11.76%, 0.04%-18.93% and 0.98%-23.12%, respec- tively, and the effect of the monoculture of common vetch was the best.(3) The overall change of soil pH was not obvious.(4)Green manure turnover can increase the yield and output of flue-cured tobacco, and the effect of the monoculture of common vetch was the best. [Conclusion] The monoculture of common vetch can be generalized in the dry land of Xiangxi tobacco-planting areas.展开更多

The results showed that, at all the growth stages of tobacco, the quantity of microorganisms in the rhizosphere soil added with the soil conditioner was higher than control (CK). The results of metagenome detection indicated that the diversity of microbial communities in soil added with the soil conditioner was also higher than the CK, and the rate of tobacco bacterial wilt and the disease index decreased by 27.6% and 34.6%, respectively, compared with the CK. In conclusion, the soil con- ditioner could reduce the soil-borne disease by improving micro-ecological environ- ment and diversity of microbial communities in rhizosphere soil to maintain the soil balance.展开更多

This paper aims to study the spatial structure of soil variables and their distribution in the Pengshui tobacco experiment station in Chongqing, China. Soil samples were taken from 289 soil points on 20 m grid in March 2012. Twenty-two soil chemical and physical properties were analyzed by classical statistical and geo-statistical methods. Soil pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), total phosphorus (TP), available phosphorus (AP), zinc (Zn), magnesium (Mg) and sulphur (S) have the strong spatial dependence, with nugget/sill ratios of less than 25%. The others have the moderate dependence with nugget/sill ratios of 26.17% to 71.04%. Ranges of the spatial correlation varied from 51.30 m for chlorine (C1) to 594.90 m for TP. The clearly patchy maps of the nutrients showed the spatial distributions of the soil variables, which can be used for better management of experimental treatments, achieving reliable exoerimental results in the tobacco exnerimental station.Highlight: Scientific experimentation assumes the existence of random variability for soil attributes. This research was to evaluate the spatial variability of soil chemical and physical attributes and to interpolate the spatial distribution of soil properties in the tobacco experimental station in Chongqing. The result of this work can be used for the agricultural management of tobacco cultivation.展开更多

This work was conducted tostudy the effect of some soil properties on cadmium diffusion coefficient (D) in soil. Measurements were made using the Shofield and Graham-Bryce's isotopic labelling method. Cadmium diffusion coefficients varied from 10 ̄(-7) to 10 ̄(-9) cm ̄2s ̄(-1),Higher values were observed in acid sandy soils and lower values in calcareous clay soils. Liming an acid soil resulted in a sub-stantial decrease of D. Addition of cadmium as nitrate salt generally increased D, while addition of sewage sludge and organ-ic matter resulted in a significant decrease of cadmium diffusion. The rhizospheric activity also induced a moderate reduction in D. The relationships between D 10 ̄(-9)cm ̄2s ̄(-1)) on the one hand and soil PH, moisture (Mc, g kg ̄(-1)), organic matter (OM, gkg ̄1 ), clay (Cy, g kg ̄(-1)) and cadmium content (Cd, mg kg ̄(-1)) on the other were obtained by the multigle regression:D=182. 1-29.g1 pH+0.210Mc-0.303OM+0.011Cy+1.64Cd (R ̄2=0.859,n=22 ).展开更多
