Effects of dissolved organic matter (DOM) on adsorption and desorption of Hg were investigated in two kinds of soils, Xanthi-Udic Ferralosols (XUF) and Typic Purpli-Udic Cambosols (TPUC). The DOM was obtained from humus soil (DOMH), rice straw (DOMR), and pig manure (DOMP). The presence of DOM obviously reduced Hg maximum adsorption capacity with up to 40% decreases over the control, being an order of DOMH (250.00 mg/kg)< DOMR (303.03 mg/kg) < DOMP (322.58 mg/kg) < CK (control 416.67 mg/kg) for the... 展开更多

[Objective]The research aimed to provide scientific reference for reasonable utilization of polyacrylamide(PAM).[Method]After PAM treatment, the soil aggregates were classified through dry sieve analysis and the adsorption capacity and desorption capacity of all soil aggregates to phosphorus at different phosphorus concentrations were analyzed.[Result] The phosphorus adsorption and desorption of soil sample treated by PAM declined. The amount of phosphorus adsorption increased with the increase of phosphorus concentration and this increase was fast in low phosphorus concentration area but slow in high phosphorus concentration area.At different phosphorus concentrations, adsorption showed a へ shape changing trend. The phosphorus adsorption was related to phosphorus concentration and the 2-3 mm aggregate had the highest desorption rate while 0.1-0.25 mm aggregate and 0.45-1 mm aggregate had lowest desorption rate.[Conclusion]The PAM treatment generated significant influence on phosphorus adsorption and analytic features of aggregate in all size fractions. 展开更多

[Objective] This study was conducted to investigate the adsorption and desorption characteristics of Cu and Pb in typical paddy soils in Jiangxi Province. [Method] Two kinds of typical paddy soils (Gley type, Waterloggogenic type) in Jiangxi Province were chosen as test materials. The single and competitive adsorption behaviors of Cu and Pb in paddy soils were investigated with batch equilibrium method, and the environmental risk under coexistence of Cu and Pb in these soils was estimated with distribution coefficient. The results showed that under equal proportion, the adsorption affinity of Pb was greater than that of Cu in the two paddy soils, and the adsorption capacities in waterloggogenic paddy soil (WPS) were significantly higher than those in gley paddy soil (GTPS), but the desorption capacities of Cu were greater than those of Pb in the two paddy soils, and the desorption capacities in GTPS were significantly higher than those in the WPS. The adsorption capacities of Cu and Pb ions under competitive condition were obviously lower than those in single system, while the desorption rates significantly increased. The potential environmental risk of Cu pollution was greater than that of Pb in paddy soils, and their environmental risk decreased with the increase of pH, but increased significantly under coexistence of lead and copper. [Conclusion] This research suggests that when Cu and Pb ions coexist in the paddy soils, compared with lead pollution, we should pay attention to the pollution of Cu. 展开更多

In order to prevent pesticide leaching from soil, the effects of charcoal amendment on adsorption-desorption of isoproturon in soils were studied and the mechanisms in reducing the loss of isoproturon from soils were suggested. Adsorption-desorption of isoproturon in five different particle sizes of charcoals and three different soils were studied using batch equilibration technique. The results showed that the experimental data were well fitted by the Freundlich empirical equation. Charcoal had a great adsorption capacity for isoproturon, and the smaller the particle size of charcoal, the more the adsorption of isoproturon. The amendment with charcoal could greatly improve the adsorption of isoproturon in soils. The adsorption of isoproturon in soils increased with the rate of charcoal amended (r= 0.9568**, P 〈 0.01). Desorption of isoproturon from charcoals and soils showed significant hystersis which was shown by the higher adsorption slope (1/nsds) compared to the desorption slope (1/ndes. The hysteresis effects of charcoal on desorption of isoproturon were closely correlated with the content of charcoal in the soils, and the hysteresis index (H) increased with the rate of charcoal amended. Observation of environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) exhibitted the fine pore structure and special surface characteristics of the tested charcoal. Analysis of Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) of isoproturon adsorbed on charcoal suggested probable bonding interactions between isoproturon and charcoal. This research suggests that charcoal amendment may be an effective management practice for controlling pesticide desorption and leaching in soils. 展开更多

The kinetic characteristics of P adsorption and desorption by organo-mineral colloidal complexes (OMC)were studied using acid, calcareous and neutral purple paddy soils taken from Chongqing and Sichuan, China. The results showed that the P adsorption capacity of the organo-mineral colloidal complexes differed with the soil types, being higher for the acid and calcareous purple soils than for the neutral purple soils. Partial removal of the organic matter increased the adsorption capacity of the colloidal complexes. A very significant positive correlation was found between the amounts of P desorbed from OMC and the P saturation degrees. The P adsorption reaction was quick at the early stage and slowed later. The raise of temperature increased P adsorption capacity and P adsorption rate of the colloidal complexes. The adsorption processes could be described by the Elovich equation. 展开更多

Methiopyrisulfuron is a novel sulfonylurea herbicide with good activity for annual broadleaf and gramineal weeds control. Present study was to investigate the effects of organic amendments (including peat (PE), sewage sludge (SS), and humic acid (HA)) on adsorption, desorption and leaching of methiopyrisulfuron in soils. The batch equilibration technique was applied for adsorption-desorption experiments and the leaching was tested through soil column simulated experiments under laboratory conditions. The Freundlich model may well describe adsorption-desorption of methiopyrisulfuron on organic amendments, the natural soil, and amended soils. Organic amendments could not only greatly increase the adsorption capacity of methiopyrisulfuron, but also significantly enhance the hysteresis of desorption of methiopyrisulfuron. The correlations between Kf_ads and organic matter content of amended soils were significant, and the correlations between H and soil organic matter in amended soils with PE, SS, and HA were significant too. The results of soil column experiments indicated that organic amendments greatly decreased leaching of methiopyrisulfuron. This study suggested that PE, SS, and HA could greatly influence environmental behavior of methiopyrisulfuron in soils. Use of organic amendments might be an effective management practice for controlling potential pollution of methiopyrisulfuron to environment. 展开更多

The objective of this study was to DTPA (complexion agent) and a sequential extraction procedure, and adsorption-desorption isotherm (competitive) evaluate the mobility and distribution of Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Pb using the in surface samples of five soil great groups differing in their physicochemical properties. For determining heavy metal adsorption and desorption capacities of soil samples, six different concentrations (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 15 and 20 mg Lt) were used in a laboratory experiment with tree replications. An analytical procedure involving sequential chemical extractions has been used for partitioning of heavy metals into five fractions. Sorption isotherms were characterized using linear, Frendlich and Langmuir equations. The results indicated that the selective sequences of the metal adsorption based on the distribution coefficient was Pb〉Cu〉Ni〉Cd〉Zn〉Mn〉Fe and Pb, Cu, and Ni are the most strongly sorbed metals by these soils, whereas Cd, Zn and Mn are the least sorbed ones. The total adsorbed amount of these metals on the studied soils was well described by Langmuir equation. Calciorthid had the highset Pb, Cu, Ni, Cd, Zn, Mn, and Fe adsorption, and the sequences followed order Fluvaquent〉Argiustoll〉Pellustert〉Haplustept of the studied soil. 展开更多

Two variable charge soils were incubated with biochars derived from straws of peanut, soybean, canola, and rice to investigate the effect of the biochars on their chemical properties and Pb(II) adsorption using batch experiments. The results showed soil cation exchange capacity (CEC) and pH significantly increased after 30 d of incubation with the biochars added. The incorporation of the biochars markedly increased the adsorption of Pb(II), and both the electrostatic and non-electrostatic adsorption mechanisms contributed to Pb(II) adsorption by the variable charge soils. Adsorption isotherms illustrated legume- straw derived biochars more greatly increased Pb(II) adsorption on soils through the non-electrostatic mechanism via the formation of surface complexes between Pb(II) and acid functional groups of the biochars than did non-legume straw biochars. The adsorption capacity of Pb(II) increased, while the desorption amount slightly decreased with the increasing suspension pH for the studied soils, especially in a high suspension pH, indicating that precipitation also plays an important role in immobilizing Pb(II) to the soils. 展开更多

[Objective] This study aimed to investigate the adsorption and desorption characteristics of cadmium and lead in typical paddy soils of Jiangxi Province. [Method] Gleyed paddy soil and waterloggogenic paddy soil were collected from Jiangxi Province and used as experimental materials to investigate single and com- petitive adsorption and desorption behaviors of cadmium and lead by batch equilib- rium method. The environmental risk of the presence of cadmium and lead in paddy soils was assessed using distribution coefficients. [Result] Under equal ratio condi- tions, the adsorption capacity of lead by two types of paddy soils was higher than that of cadmium, and the adsorption rate in waterloggogenic paddy soil was higher than that in gleyed paddy soil. The desorption capacity of cadmium by two types of paddy soils was higher than that of lead, and the desorption rate in gleyed paddy soil was higher than that in waterloggogenic paddy soil. Under competitive condi- tions, the adsorption capacity of cadmium and lead by paddy soils was significantly reduced compared with single ion system, while the desorption rate was remarkably improved. The potential environmental risk of cadmium contamination was greater than that of lead in paddy soils. Moreover, environmental risks of cadmium and lead were reduced with the increase of pH, which increased significantly under the coex- istence state. [Conclusion] In the coexistence of cadmium and lead, cadmium con- tamination should be controlled and avoided compared with lead contamination in paddy soils. 展开更多

In this study, the hydrolysis of the insecticide ethiprole in buffered solutions at pH 4.0, 7.0 and 9.0, respectively, and the degradation and adsorption-desorption behaviors of ethiprole in ifve agricultural soil samples from China were investigated. The half-lives under anaerobic conditions were faster than that in the aerobic experiment. Ethiprole was relatively stable under both acidic and neutral conditions while it was readily hydrolyzed under alkaling condition. The sorption of ethiprole on ifve soils was well described by the linear and Freundlich equation and mainly governed by soil organic matter. The exothermic process of ethiprole adsorption can also be well explained by physical adsorption. A weak adsorption capacity was observed in all soils, which could readily lead to leaching problems. 展开更多

The adsorption and desorption of Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) on upland red soil, and paddy soils which were originated from the upland soil and cultivated for 8,15,35 and 85 years, were investigated using the batch method. The study showed that the organic matter content and cation exchange capacity (CEC) of the soils are important factors controlling the adsorption and desorption of Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ).The 15-Year paddy soil had the highest adsorption capacity for Pb(Ⅱ),followed by the 35-Year paddy soil. Both the 35-Year paddy soil and 15-Year paddy soil adsorbed more Cu(Ⅱ) than the upland soil and other paddy soils. The 15-Year paddy soils exhibited the highest desorption percentage for both Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ).These results are consistent with the trend for the CEC of the soils tested. The high soil CEC contributes not only to the adsorption of Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) but also to the electrostatic adsorption of the two heavy metals by the soils.Lower desorption percentages for Cu(Ⅱ) (36.7% to 42.2%) and Pb(Ⅱ) (50.4% to 57.9%) were observed for the 85-Year paddy soil. The highest content of organic matter in the soil was responsible for the low desorption percentages for the two metals because the formation of the complexes between the organic matter and the metals could increase the stability of the heavy metals in the soils. 展开更多

The behavior of herbicide acetochlor adsorption desorption to soil in the presence of humic acid (HA), anionic surfactant sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS), cationic surfactant hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (HDAB) and NH 4NO 3 as a chemical fertilizer was studied. Observed acetochlor adsorption isotherm were well described using Freundlich isotherm equation, from which the desorption isotherm equation has been deduced. The deduced equation can more directly describe acetochlor desorption process. The results showed that the enhance of acetochlor adsorption capacity by solid HA was greater than by soluble HA. The presence of NH 4NO 3 can slightly enhance acetochlor adsorption to soil by comparison with that measured in NH 4NO 3 free solution. In soil water system, surfactant acetochlor interaction is very complex, and the surfactant adsorptions as well as acetochlor adsorption need to be considered. When acetochlor soil suspensions contained lower concentration SDBS or HDAB (40 mg/L), K f for acetochlor adsorption was decreased in comparison to that measured in SDBS or HDAB free solution. When acetochlor soil suspensions contained higher concentration SDBS or HDAB (corresponding 1400 mg/L or 200 mg/L), K f for acetochlor adsorption was increased in comparison to that measured in SDBS or HDAB free solution. 展开更多

Exogenous humus can change the content and migration activity of cadmium(Cd)in soil.Humic acid(HA)is an important soluble humus component in soil.In order to explore the relationship between cadmium pollution mechanism and ecological environment of humic acid in reclaimed soil, the characteristics of humic acid adsorbing cadmium in alkaline conditions were studied. This study employed reclaimed soil from the Huainan mining area,China. The adsorption and desorption characteristics as well as influence mechanisms on the heavy metal cadmium(Cd)were explored under the influence of HA.The results show that:(1)When Cd concentration was low(0.2–10 mg/L),HA had little effect on Cd adsorption and desorption in reclaimed soil. When the Cd concentration was high(15–80 mg/L),HA had a great influence on the adsorption and desorption of Cd in reclaimed soil. The addition of HA can inhibit the adsorption of Cd by reclaimed soil and effectively improve the desorption capacity of Cd by reclaimed soil.(2)The kinetic curves of Cd adsorption and desorption of reclaimed soil with added HA show that both processes(adsorption and desorption)include two stages:rapid reaction and slow reaction. The adsorption of Cd by reclaimed soil under the influence of HA was 18.18%lower than that of normal reclaimed soil, and the increase of Cd desorption was 50.29%.(3)The factors affecting the adsorption and desorption of Cd in the soil were analyzed with gray theory, and their importance can be ordered as follows:Cd concentration>HA concentration>pH>temperature.Considering the influence of HA,a multi-factor coupling function model of adsorption and desorption of Cd in soil is established. This model provides theoretical guidance for the scientific prediction and evaluation of Cd environmental pollution risks in soil and will be useful for developing a new solution for engineering remediation of high concentration Cd contaminated soil. 展开更多

The adsorption-desorption characteristics of chlorimuron-ethyl in soils were investigated to provide the basic data for evaluating the safety in field and the risk to water resource. The adsorption-desorption experiment was conducted by the batch equilibration and HPLC techniques; furthermore, data were analyzed with 5 mathematic models to describe the characteristics and mechanism of adsorption-desorption and translocation of the herbicide in soils. The results showed that the adsorption-desorption isotherms of chlorimuron-ethyl fitted for the Freundlich model well, and the physical reaction presents the main contribution during the adsorption-desorption process. The adsorption values (Kads-f) of chlorimuron-ethyl in 8 types of soil ranged from 0.798 to 6.891. The isotherms of 2# (Jiangxi clay) and 3# (Jiangxi sand loam) soils belong to the S-type curve, while the isotherms of another 6 type soils belong to the L-type isotherm. The results of desorption indicated that the hysteresis phenomena appeared during the desorption process, and the hysteresis coefficients (H) of the herbicides in 8 soils varied from 0.259-0.980. Furthermore, Kads-f and desorption values (Kads-f) increased with the OM (%) and the clay content increasing, while the values decreased with the soils pH increasing. The H values decreased with the OM and the clay content increasing, and increased with the soils pH increasing. It can be concluded that the low adsorption abilities of chlorimuron-ethyl in test soils and un-reversible adsorption existed in the process, which will induce the great translocation of the herbicide after application in field. It can be transported to ground or groundwater causing risk to environments. The physical and chemical properties of soils, including the OM, the clay content, and the pH of soil were the dominating factors during the adsorption-desorption. 展开更多

Reddish clayey soil(HH),alluvial sandy soil(HS),granitic sandy soil(MS)and purple clayey soil(ZS)were used as the test materials to reveal the adsorption-desorption characteristics of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients in paddy soils from different parent materials. The results showed that the nitrogen desorption amount of each soil was greater than the nitrogen adsorption amount in the low nitrogen concentration range of 0~10 mg/L;in the high nitrogen concentration range of 20~50 mg/L,the soil nitrogen desorption rate gradually decreased with the increase of nitrogen concentration of the equilibrium liquid;when the soil nitrogen adsorption amount was-57.267~352.400 mg/kg,the nitrogen adsorption capacity of the paddy soils from different parent materials was HS>ZS>HH>MS;when the nitrogen desorption amount was 8.367~37.833 mg/kg,the nitrogen desorption capacity of the paddy soils from different parent materials was HH>HS>MS>ZS;the nitrogen adsorption isothermal curves of HH,MS,HS and ZS fitted the Linear model, the correlation coefficients were 0.928~0.978.At the same time,in the range of low phosphorus concentration(0~10 mg/L),the phosphorus adsorption amounts of 4 paddy soils were greater than their phosphorus desorption amounts. When the phosphorus concentration of the equilibrium solution exceeded 10 mg/L,phosphorus fixation capacities of 4 paddy soils weakened, meanwhile their phosphorus desorption increased, but their adsorption amounts were still greater than their desorption amounts. When phosphorus adsorption and desorption amounts of 4 paddy soils were-110.312~534.961 and 0.188~14.320 mg/kg respectively, the phosphorus adsorption and desorption capacities of 4 paddy soils were HS>HH>ZS>MS and ZS>MS>HS>HH,respectively. The phosphorus adsorption isothermal curves of 4 paddy soils fitted the Langmuir and Freundlich models, the correlation coefficient were 0.945~0.995.In general, paddy soils developed from different parent materials in Hunan Province have different adsorption and desorption characteristics for nitrogen and phosphorus.Purple clayey soil has the strongest nitrogen fixation capacity due to its stronger viscosity, which can reduce the risk of nitrogen loss by effectively holding nitrogen in the soil solution. On the contrary, being of strong sandy property, granitic sandy soil has the worst nitrogen fixation capacity and higher risk of nitrogen loss. The four paddy soils have strong adsorption capacity and low desorption rate of phosphorus, which indicates that the main paddy soils in Hunan Province have strong adsorption capacity for phosphorus and relatively small loss risk. 展开更多

The study about the adsorption of phosphate on four variable charge soils and some minerals revealed that two stage adsorption appeared in the adsorption isotherms of phosphate on 4 soils and there was a maximum adsorption on Al-oxide-typed surfaces between pH 3.5 to pH 5.5 as suspension pH changed from 2 to 9, but the adsorption amount of phosphate decreased continually as pH rose on Fe-oxide typed surfaces. The adsorption amount of phosphate and the maximum phosphate adsorption pH decreased in the order of yellow-red soil > lateritic red soil > red soil > paddy soil, which was coincided with the content order of amorphous Al oxide. The removement of organic matter and Fe oxide made the maximum phosphate adsorption pH rise from 4.0 to 5.0 and 4.5, respectively. The desorption curves with pH of four soils showed that phosphate desorbed least at pH 5. Generally the desorption was contrary to the adsorption with pH changing. There was a good accordance between adsorption or desorption and the concentration of Al in the suspension. The possible mechanisms of phosphate adsorption are discussed. 展开更多
