We introduce the solid angle into car-following theory, taking the driver’s perception of the leading vehicle’s size into account. The solid angle and its change rate are applied as inputs to the novel model. A nonlinear stability analysis is performed to analyze the asymmetry of the model and the size effect of the leading vehicle, and the modified Korteweg–de Vries equation is derived. The solid angle model can explain complex traffic characteristics and provide an important basis for modeling nonlinear traffic phenomena.展开更多

The singularities of influence coefficient matrix are eliminated using coordinate transformation and so-called 4π rule. The solid angle for the open surface is treated in direct method based on its definition. Several kinds of configurations for the bubbles and free surface have been investigated. The pressure contours during the evolution of bubbles are obtained in our model and can better illuminate the mechanism underlying the motions of bubbles and free surface. The bubble dynamics and their interactions have close relation with the standoff distances, buoyancy parameters and initial sizes of bubbles. Completely different bubble shapes, free surface motions, jetting patterns and pressure distributions under different parameters can be observed in our model, as demon- strated in our calculation results.展开更多

This approach is based on the efficiency transfer formula (ET), the effective solid angles, the self- absorptions of the source matrix, the attenuation by the source container and the detector housing materials on the detector efficiency. The experimental calibration process was done using radioactive (Cylindrical & Marinelli) sources, in different dimensions, that contain aqueous 152Eu radionuclide. The comparison point to a fine agreement between the experimental measured and calculated efficiencies for the (NaI & HPGe) detectors using volumetric radioactive sources.展开更多
