By observing male' s oppression and destruction toward female, Faulkner elaborates feminine crisis from another angle which reflects his strong humanistic concern. Alzheimer’s disease is a primary age-related neurodegenerative disorder that can result in impaired cognitive and memory functions.Although connections between changes in brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patien...Alzheimer’s disease is a primary age-related neurodegenerative disorder that can result in impaired cognitive and memory functions.Although connections between changes in brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patients have been established,the mechanisms that drive these alterations remain incompletely understood.This study,which was conducted in 2018 at Northeastern University in China,included data from 97 participants of the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative(ADNI)dataset covering genetics,imaging,and clinical data.All participants were divided into two groups:normal control(n=52;20 males and 32 females;mean age 73.90±4.72 years)and Alzheimer’s disease(n=45,23 males and 22 females;mean age 74.85±5.66).To uncover the wiring mechanisms that shaped changes in the topology of human brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patients,we proposed a local naive Bayes brain network model based on graph theory.Our results showed that the proposed model provided an excellent fit to observe networks in all properties examined,including clustering coefficient,modularity,characteristic path length,network efficiency,betweenness,and degree distribution compared with empirical methods.This proposed model simulated the wiring changes in human brain networks between controls and Alzheimer’s disease patients.Our results demonstrate its utility in understanding relationships between brain tissue structure and cognitive or behavioral functions.The ADNI was performed in accordance with the Good Clinical Practice guidelines,US 21 CFR Part 50-Protection of Human Subjects,and Part 56-Institutional Review Boards(IRBs)/Research Good Clinical Practice guidelines Institutional Review Boards(IRBs)/Research Ethics Boards(REBs).展开更多
The successful face recognition based on local binary pattern(LBP)relies on the effective extraction of LBP features and the inferring of similarity between the extracted features.In this paper,we focus on the latter ...The successful face recognition based on local binary pattern(LBP)relies on the effective extraction of LBP features and the inferring of similarity between the extracted features.In this paper,we focus on the latter and propose two novel similarity measures for the local matching methods and the holistic matching methods respectively.One is Earth Mover's Distance with Hamming and Lp ground distance(EMD-HammingLp),which is a cross-bin dissimilarity measure for LBP histograms.The other is IMage Hamming Distance(IMHD),which is a dissimilarity measure for the whole LBP images.Experiments on FERET database show that the proposed two similarity measures outperform the state-of-the-art Chi-square similarity measure for extraction of LBP features.展开更多
Purpose–Conventional image super-resolution reconstruction by the conventional deep learning architectures suffers from the problems of hard training and gradient disappearing.In order to solve such problems,the purp...Purpose–Conventional image super-resolution reconstruction by the conventional deep learning architectures suffers from the problems of hard training and gradient disappearing.In order to solve such problems,the purposeof this paperis to proposea novel image super-resolutionalgorithmbasedon improved generative adversarial networks(GANs)with Wasserstein distance and gradient penalty.Design/methodology/approach–The proposed algorithm first introduces the conventional GANs architecture,the Wasserstein distance and the gradient penalty for the task of image super-resolution reconstruction(SRWGANs-GP).In addition,a novel perceptual loss function is designed for the SRWGANs-GP to meet the task of image super-resolution reconstruction.The content loss is extracted from the deep model’s feature maps,and such features are introduced to calculate mean square error(MSE)for the loss calculation of generators.Findings–To validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm,a lot of compared experiments are applied on three common data sets,i.e.Set5,Set14 and BSD100.Experimental results have shown that the proposed SRWGANs-GP architecture has a stable error gradient and iteratively convergence.Compared with the baseline deep models,the proposed GANs models have a significant improvement on performance and efficiency for image super-resolution reconstruction.The MSE calculated by the deep model’s feature maps gives more advantages for constructing contour and texture.Originality/value–Compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms,the proposed algorithm obtains a better performance on image super-resolution and better reconstruction results on contour and texture.展开更多
