Spatio-temporal cellular network traffic prediction at wide-area level plays an important role in resource reconfiguration,traffic scheduling and intrusion detection,thus potentially supporting connected intelligence ...Spatio-temporal cellular network traffic prediction at wide-area level plays an important role in resource reconfiguration,traffic scheduling and intrusion detection,thus potentially supporting connected intelligence of the sixth generation of mobile communications technology(6G).However,the existing studies just focus on the spatio-temporal modeling of traffic data of single network service,such as short message,call,or Internet.It is not conducive to accurate prediction of traffic data,characterised by diverse network service,spatio-temporality and supersize volume.To address this issue,a novel multi-task deep learning framework is developed for citywide cellular network traffic prediction.Functionally,this framework mainly consists of a dual modular feature sharing layer and a multi-task learning layer(DMFS-MT).The former aims at mining long-term spatio-temporal dependencies and local spatio-temporal fluctuation trends in data,respectively,via a new combination of convolutional gated recurrent unit(ConvGRU)and 3-dimensional convolutional neural network(3D-CNN).For the latter,each task is performed for predicting service-specific traffic data based on a fully connected network.On the real-world Telecom Italia dataset,simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal through prediction performance measure,spatial pattern comparison and statistical distribution verification.展开更多

This research is based on the framework of social constructivism,utilizing the principle of Human Universals as a methodology to compare the similarities and differences between the ideation and formation methods of C...This research is based on the framework of social constructivism,utilizing the principle of Human Universals as a methodology to compare the similarities and differences between the ideation and formation methods of Chinese characters and English alphabets.Through comparative analysis of the ideation of English letters(pictogramme)and the origin of Chinese characters,known as the"Six Categories Theory,"we discover their alignment in terms of social,traditional,and cultural aspects.This suggests that different ethnic groups share common features in terms of life experience,learning cognitive development,and thinking habits.This study also finds that the origins of English letters and Chinese characters share similar linguistic features in their methods of constructing letters/characters,such as pictographic,ideographic,and semantic characteristics.Exploring these commonalities contributes to promoting learning and communication between Chinese and English characters.Additionally,by focusing on socio-cultural aspects,traditional customs,and cognitive learning,this study aims to break away from the traditional linguistic research approach that solely focuses on language differences.This provides a broader perspective and richer dimensions for Chinese and English language learning,facilitating the development of cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication.展开更多
In order to meet the requirements of the high gain and wide field of view(FOV) for indoor visible light communication(VLC) system, a new optical receiving system is proposed, which integrates a Fresnel lens with a hem...In order to meet the requirements of the high gain and wide field of view(FOV) for indoor visible light communication(VLC) system, a new optical receiving system is proposed, which integrates a Fresnel lens with a hemispherical lens. The effects of the two lenses’ spacing and the radius of the hemispherical lens on the optical gain at different FOV are investigated. As the FOV increases, the designed antenna displays enhanced reception performance compared with the traditional receiving optical antenna. The optical gain of the designed antenna is 6.88 in the condition of FOV of 40°. To further verify the rationality of the designed antenna, a model of VLC system is established based on the designed antenna in a room with a size of 5 m×5 m×3 m. The results show that the received average power using the designed antenna increases by 22.81 d Bm, and the average signal to noise ratio(SNR) is 2.3 times of that without any optical antenna. The designed antenna is promising for the application in indoor VLC systems.展开更多

Face views are particularly important in person-to-person communication.Differenes between the camera location and the face orientation can result in undesirable facial appearances of the participants during video con...Face views are particularly important in person-to-person communication.Differenes between the camera location and the face orientation can result in undesirable facial appearances of the participants during video conferencing.This phenomenon is particularly noticeable when using devices where the frontfacing camera is placed in unconventional locations such as below the display or within the keyboard.In this paper,we take a video stream from a single RGB camera as input,and generate a video stream that emulates the view from a virtual camera at a designated location.The most challenging issue in this problem is that the corrected view often needs out-of-plane head rotations.To address this challenge,we reconstruct the 3D face shape and re-render it into synthesized frames according to the virtual camera location.To output the corrected video stream with natural appearance in real time,we propose several novel techniques including accurate eyebrow reconstruction,high-quality blending between the corrected face image and background,and template-based 3D reconstruction of glasses.Our system works well for different lighting conditions and skin tones,and can handle users wearing glasses.Extensive experiments and user studies demonstrate that our method provides high-quality results.展开更多
