In this paper the spectral enhancement of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for copper plasma in the presence of a magnetic field is investigated and the temporal- and spatial-resolved plasma emission spectra are analyzed. Experimental results show that the copper plasma atomic and ion spectra have been enhanced in the presence of the external magnetic field. In addition, the Cu I 521.82 nm spectral intensity evolution with delay time appears to have a double peak around the delay time of 2 μs, but that of Cu II 507.57 nm has a sharp decrease because of the electron-atom three body recombination process. The plasma temperature with magnetic confinement is lower than that of the case in the absence of magnetic fields. Finally, the spectral enhancement mechanisms of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy with magnetic confinement are analyzed. 展开更多

Sentinel-1A/B data are crucial for retrieving numerical information about surface phenomena and processes.Coregistration of terrain observation by progressive scans(TOPS)data is a critical step in its application.TOPS data must be fundamentally co-registered with an accuracy of 0.001 pixels. However, various decorrelation factors due to natural vegetation and seasonal effects affect the coregistration accuracy of TOPS data. This paper proposed an enhanced spectral diversity coregistration method for dual-polarimetric(PolESD)Sentinel-1A/B TOPS data. The PolESD method suppresses speckle noise based on a unified non-local framework in dual-pol Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR),and extracts the phase of the optimal polarization channel from the denoised polarimetric interferometric coherency matrix.Compared with the traditional ESD method developed for single-polarization data, the PolESD method can obtain more accurate coherence and phase and get more pixels for azimuth-offset estimation. In bare areas covered with low vegetation, the number of pixels selected by PolESD is more than the Boxcar method. It can also correct misregistration more effectively and eliminate phase jumps in the burst edge. Therefore,PolESD will help improve the application of TOPS data in low-coherence scenarios. 展开更多

The Global Geopotential Models (GGMs) of GOCE (Gravity Recovery and steady- state Ocean Circulation Explorer) differ globally as well as regionally in their accuracy and resolution based on the maximum degree and order (d/o) of the fully normalized spherical harmonic (SH) coefficients, which express each GGM. The main idea of this study is to compare the free-air gravity anomalies and quasi geoid heights determined from several recent GOCE-based GGMs with the corresponding ones from the Earth Gravitational Model 2008 (EGM2008) over Egypt on the one hand and with ground-based measurements on the other hand. The results regarding to the comparison of GOCE-based GGMs with terrestrial gravity and GPS/levelling data provide better improvement with respect to EGM2008. The 4th release GOCE-based GGM developed with the use of space-wise solution strategy (SPW_R4) approximates the gravity field well over the Egyptian region. The SPW_R4 model is accordingly suggested as a reference model for recovering the long wavelength (up to SH d/o 200) components of quasi geoid heights when modelling the gravimetric quasi-geoid over the Egypt. Finally, three types of transformation models: Four-, Five- and Seven-parameter transformations have been applied to reduce the data biases and to provide a better fitting of quasi geoid heights obtained from the studied GOCE-based GGMs to those from GPS/levelling data. These models reveal that the standard deviation of vertical datum over Egypt is at the level of about 32 cm. 展开更多

A combination of spark discharge and nanoparticle-enhanced laser-induced plasma spectroscopy is investigated.Depositing Au nanoparticles at the surface of a brass target can enhance the coupling of the target and the laser.More atoms in the brass sample are excited. As a secondary excitation source, spark discharge reheats the generated plasma, which further amplifies the enhancement results of nanoparticles. The spectral intensity with the spark discharge increases more obviously with nanoparticle concentration increasing than without the spark discharge. Also, plasma temperature and electron density are calculated by the Boltzmann plot and Stark broadening. The changes in the plasma temperature and electron density are consistent with the spectral emission changes. 展开更多

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS)is an important technique which is widely used to analyze element composition. In order to improve the sensitivity of LIBS,much effort has been made to enhance the spectral intensity of LIBS by proposing a number of methods. In addition,we find that laser polarization has great influence on the emission intensity of femtosecond LIBS.By comparing the emission intensity of femtosecond LIBS in the circular polarization with that in the linear polarization, the spectral intensity in the case of circular polarization is stronger than that in the case of linear polarization. Moreover, this phenomenon is more obvious as laser energy increases. The polarization plays an important role in LIBS signal intensity.Based on the observation, the enhanced mechanism of the laser polarization for the spectral intensity is discussed in this paper, which will be helpful in spectral analysis and component analysis. 展开更多

Laser-induced plasmas of dual-pulse fiber-optic laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy with different pulse energy ratios are studied by using the optical emission spectroscopy(OES)and fast imaging. The energy of the two laser pulses is independently adjusted within 0–30 m J with the total energy fixed at 30 m J.The inter-pulse delay remains 450 ns constantly. As the energy share of the first pulse increases,a similar bimodal variation trend of line intensities is observed. The two peaks are obtained at the point where the first pulse is half or twice of the second one,and the maximum spectral enhancement is at the first peak. The bimodal variation trend is induced by the change in the dominated mechanism of dual-pulse excitation with the trough between the two peaks caused by the weak coupling between the two mechanisms.By increasing the first pulse energy, there is a transition from the ablation enhancement dominance near the first peak to the plasma reheating dominance near the second peak. The calculations of plasma temperature and electron number density are consistent with the bimodal trend, which have the values of 17024.47 K,2.75×10^(17)cm;and 12215.93 K,1.17×10^(17)cm;at a time delay of 550 ns.In addition, the difference between the two peaks decreases with time delay. With the increase in the first pulse energy share, the plasma morphology undergoes a transformation from hemispherical to shiny-dot and to oblate-cylinder structure during the second laser irradiation from the recorded images by using an intensified charge-coupled device(ICCD)camera.Correspondingly, the peak expansion distance of the plasma front first decreases significantly from 1.99 mm in the single-pulse case to 1.34 mm at 12/18(dominated by ablation enhancement)and then increases slightly with increasing the plasma reheating effect. The variations in plasma dynamics verify that the change of pulse energy ratios leads to a transformation in the dual-pulse excitation mechanism. 展开更多

To realize the fast and accurate quantitative analysis of the mixture of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)coupled with multivariate calibrations were employed. In this study, three kinds of calibration algorithms were used to quantitative analysis of the mixture of naphthalene(Nap),phenanthrene(Phe),and pyrene(Pyr).Firstly, partial least squares(PLS)algorithm was used to select characteristic variables, then the global search capability of genetic algorithm(GA)was used for the determining of the initial weights and thresholds of back propagation(BP)neural network so that local minima was avoided. The PLS-GA-BP model exhibited superiority to quantify PAHs mixture, which achieved R2=0.9975,0.9710,0.9643,ARE=10.07%,19.28%,16.72%and RMSE=13.10,5.40,5.10 nmol L−1 for Nap,Phe,Pyr(in the PAHs mixture)concentration prediction respectively. The forecast error,ARE and RMSE have been reduced more than 50%and 60%respectively compared with the whole spectral BP model. The study indicates that accurate quantitative spectroscopic analysis of the mixture of PAHs samples can be achieved through the combination of SERS technique and PLS-GA-BP algorithm. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate whether virtual chromoendoscopy can improve the delineation of small bowel lesions previously detected by conventional white light small bowel capsule endoscopy(SBCE). METHODS: Retrospective single center study. One hundred lesions selected from forty-nine consecutive conventional white light SBCE(SBCE-WL) examinations were included. Lesions were reviewed at three Flexible Spectral Imaging Color Enhancement(FICE) settings and Blue Filter(BF) by two gastroenterologists with ex-perience in SBCE, blinded to each other's findings, whoranked the quality of delineation as better, equivalent or worse than conventional SBCE-WL. Inter-observer percentage of agreement was determined and analyzed with Fleiss Kappa(k) coefficient. Lesions selected for the study included angioectasias(n = 39), ulcers/ero-sions(n = 49) and villous edema/atrophy(n = 12). RESULTS: Overall, the delineation of lesions was im-proved in 77% of cases with FICE 1, 74% with FICE 2, 41% with FICE 3 and 39% with the BF, with a percent-age of agreement between investigators of 89%(k = 0.833), 85%(k = 0.764), 66%(k = 0.486) and 79%(k = 0.593), respectively. FICE 1 improved the delineation of 97.4% of angioectasias, 63.3% of ulcers/erosions and 66.7% of villous edema/atrophy with a percentage of agreement of 97.4%(k = 0.910), 81.6%(k = 0.714) and 91.7%(k = 0.815), respectively. FICE 2 improved the delineation of 97.4% of angioectasias, 57.1% of ulcers/erosions and 66.7% of villous edema/atrophy, with a percentage of agreement of 89.7%(k = 0.802), 79,6%(k = 0.703) and 91.7%(k = 0.815), respectively. FICE 3 improved the delineation of 46.2% of angioecta-sias, 24.5% of ulcers/erosions and none of the cases of villous edema/atrophy, with a percentage of agreement of 53.8% [k = not available(NA)], 75.5%(k = NA) and 66.7%(k = 0.304), respectively. The BF improved the delineation of 15.4% of angioectasias, 61.2% of ulcers/erosions and 25% of villous edema/atrophy, with a per-centage of agreement of 76.9%(k = 0.558), 81.6%(k = 0.570) and 25.0%(k = NA), respectively.CONCLUSION: Virtual chromoendoscopy can improve the delineation of angioectasias, ulcers/erosions and villous edema/atrophy detected by SBCE, with almost perfect interobserver agreement for FICE 1. 展开更多

An enhanced relative spectral (FLRASTA) technique for speech and speaker recognition is proposed. The new method consists of classical RASTA filtering in logarithmic spectral domain following by another additive RASTA filtering in the same domain. In this manner, both the channel distortion and additive noise are removed effectively. In speaker identification and speech recognition experiments on T146 database, the E_RASTA performs equal or better than J_RASTA method in both tasks. The E_RASTA does not need the speech SNR estimation in order to determinate the optimal value of J in J_RASTA, and the information of how the speech degrades. The choice of ERASTA filter also indicates that the low temporal modulation components in speech can deteriorate the performance of both recognition tasks. Besides, the speaker recognition needs less temporal modulation frequency band than that of the speech recognition. 展开更多
