As energy efficiency and indoor comfort increasingly become key standards in modern residential and office environments,research on intelligent fan speed control systems has become particularly important.This study aims to develop a temperature-feedback-based fan speed optimization strategy to achieve higher energy efficiency and user comfort.Firstly,by analyzing existing fan speed control technologies,their main limitations are identified,such as the inability to achieve smooth speed transitions.To address this issue,a BP-PID speed control algorithm is designed,which dynamically adjusts fan speed based on indoor temperature changes.Experimental validation demonstrates that the designed system can achieve smooth speed transitions compared to traditional fan systems while maintaining stable indoor temperatures.Furthermore,the real-time responsiveness of the system is crucial for enhancing user comfort.Our research not only demonstrates the feasibility of temperature-based fan speed optimization strategies in both theory and practice but also provides valuable insights for energy management in future smart home environments.Ultimately,this research outcome will facilitate the development of smart home systems and have a positive impact on environmental sustainability. 展开更多

This paper describes a stabilization effect after installating an adjustable speed generator (ASG) in a multi machine power system. A personal computer based ASG module has been de veloped for the simulations in parallel with the analog power system simulator i n the Research Laboratory of the Kyushu Electric Power Co. The three phase ins t antaneous value based ASG model has been developed in the Matlab/Simulink envir onment for its detailed and real time simulations, which have been performed on a digital signal processor (DSP) board with AD and DA conversion interfaces inst alled in a personal computer (PC). This paper presents a new approach to alleviate the harmonics and to enhance the power factor of the ASD (adjustable speed drive). A conventional ASD with 2-level PWM (pulse width modulation) inverters generate high dv/dt and high frequency common mode voltages which are harmful for the drive applications. It reduces the motor bearings life and conducted EMI (electro magnetic interference) deteriorates the insulation. In this paper, a diode clamped multilevel (3-level) inverter is used to perform dual task. It generates HF (high frequency) current to be injected at the input of the three-phase front-end rectifier thereby improving the harmonic spectra and the power factor. It also drives the induction motor. The salient feature of this paper is that it does not require separate converters for improving power factor and to drive induction motor. Furthermore, inverter switches operate with ZVS (zero voltage switching), thus reducing the switching losses substantially, The voltage stress of the switches also has been reduced to half of the conventional 2-level converter. The inverter is operated with SPWM (sinusoidal pulse width modulation) technique. The simulation results for a prototype of 2.2 kW are presented. 展开更多

In this paper, parameter plane synthesis of a three-phase neutral-point clamped bidirectional rectifier has been performed. The converter involves one outer-loop PI voltage controller and two inner-loop PI current controllers for the closed-loop control. D-partition technique has been employed for the precise design of the voltage controller. The performance of the converter has been evaluated using MATLAB/Simulink software. An experimental prototype of converter has been developed and the experimental investigation of converter in closed-loop has been carried out. DSP DS 1104 of dSPACE has been used for real-time implementation of the designed controller. The performance of the converter has been found satisfactory using the designed controller parameters. 展开更多

VFDs (variable frequency drives) are an integral part of many industrial plants and stations. Reliable operation and maintenance of these drives is vital to ensure sustained plant operation and availability. Understanding of the principles of operation of VFD systems as well as knowledge about their required operating environment is necessary for all operating personnel. Many times the operating personnel do not get involved with different technical issues until a complete failure has occurred. Hence, the awareness of the most dominant failure causes has a significant impact on assisting operators to avoid catastrophic failures and tremendous economic losses due to VFD shutdown. Proper plant design, accurate monitoring and data logging, following manufacturer preventive maintenance schedule, and choosing qualified team of operators can be the key to an efficient operation and a long lifetime for any VFD system. In this paper, we have analyzed the electrical and non-electrical causes of VFD failures based on a case study of a typical medium voltage VFD pumping station. Finally, recommendations are given from field analysis and observations. 展开更多

This paper studied a tactical liner shipping schedule design issue under sail and port time uncertainties,which is the determination of the planned arrival time at each port call as well as the punctuality rate and number of assigned ship on the route.A number of studies have tried to introduce the operational speed adjustment measure into this tactical schedule design issue,to alleviate the discrepancies between designed schedule and maritime practice.On the one hand,weather conditions can lead to speed loss phenomenon of ships,which may result in the failure of ships’punctual arrivals.On the other hand,improving the ability of speed adjustment can decrease the late-arrival compensation,but increase the fuel consumption cost.Then,we formulated a machine learning-based liner shipping schedule design model aiming at above-mentioned two limitations on speed adjustment measure.And a machine learning-based approach has been designed,where the speed adjustment simulation,the neural network training and the reinforcement learning were included.Numerical experiments were conducted to validate our results and derive managerial insights,and then the applicability of machine learning method in shipping optimization issue has been confirmed. 展开更多
