The effect of spinel type effect on the size evolution of various nanoparticles was investigated. It was found that Fe3O4 nanoparticles exhibited higher crystalinity and size evolution than MnFe2O4 nanoparticles with use of the two surfactants. It is proposed that this observation is due to fewer tendencies of surfactants on the surface of Fe3O4 building blocks nanoparticles than MnFe2O4. Less amounts of surfactant or capping agent on the surface of nanoparticles lead to the higher crystalibity and larger size. It is also suggested that the type of spinel (normal or inverted spinel) plays a key role on the affinity of the polymeric surfactant on the surface of building blocks.展开更多

The extraction/insertion reaction with this material was investigated by X-ray, saturation capacity of exchange, pH titration, and distribution coefficient (Kd) measurement. The acid treatments of Mg2Mn0.5Ti0.5O4 caused Mg^2+ extractions of more than 81%, whereas the dissolutions of Mn^4+ and Ti^4+ were less than 10%. The experimental results proved that the acid-treated sample has a capacity of exchange 56 mg·g^-1 for Li^+ in the solution. The chemical analysis showed that the Li^+ extraction/insertion progressed mainly by ion-exchange mechanism and surface adsorption.展开更多

Its properties of ion-exchange for alkali ions such as saturation capacity of exchange, distribution coefficient and the pH titration curve have been determined. LiMg0.5Mn1.5O4 was characterized by X-ray diffraction. These results show that this inorganic ion-exchanger has better remembering and selectivity of ion exchange, and higher capacity of exchange for Li+, the capacity of exchange reaches 32.39 mg·g-1 for Li+.展开更多
