Eddy currents are induced by vertical displacement events (VDEs) and disrup- tion, which can produce a magnetic field to control the vertical instability of the plasma in a short timescale. A finite element model is created and meshed using ANSYS software. Based on the simulation of plasma VDEs and disruption, the distribution and decay curve of the eddy currents on the PSL are obtained. The largest eddy current is 200 kA and the stress is 68 MPa at the outer current bridge, which is the weakest point of the PSL because of the eddy currents and the magnetic fields. The analysis results provide the supporting data for the structural design.展开更多

The controller coefficient perturbation was analyzed resultingfrom using finite word length (FWL) block-floating-point representation scheme. A block-floating-point FWL closed-loop stability measure was derived which considers both the dynamic range and precision. To facilitate the design of optimal finite-precision controller realizations, a computationally tractable block-floating-point FWL closed-loop stability measure was then introduced and the method of computing the value of this measure for a given controller realization was developed. The optimal controller realization is defined as the solution that maximizes the corresponding measure, and a numerical optimization approach was adopted to solve the resulting optimal realization problem. A numerical example was used to illustrate the design procedure and to compare the optimal controller realization with the initial realization.展开更多

This elasto-plastic three-dimensional model is based on the internal thermodynamic variables which composed of the nonlinear kinematic hardening and isotropic hardening with the plastic strain memorization. The emphasis is put on the determination of strain memory parameters along with other material parameters of the proposed model in order to better simulate the behavior of the material at different strain range. The material parameters are calibrated with the experimental stabilized loops of stress-strain curves available in the literature. The predicted stabilized loops from the simulation with the determined parameters show good agreement with the experimental results signifying the validity of the considered model.展开更多

The mean looping time ι1/scales with chain length N and corresponding scaling exponent α increases linearly with the capture radius scaled by the Kuhn length a/l due to the effect of finite chain length. We also showed that the probability density function of the looping time is well fitted by a single exponential. Finally, we found that the mean unlooping time ιu hardly depends on chain length N for a given a/l and that the stability of a formed loop is enhanced with increasing a/l.展开更多

The voltage controlled oscillator is designed with a modified digital controlled capacitor array to extend the tuning range and minimize phase noise. A high-resolution adaptive frequency calibration technique is introduced to automatically choose frequency bands and increase phase-noise immunity. A prototype is implemented in 0.13 #m CMOS technology. The experimental results show that the designed 1.2 V wideband frequency synthesizer is locked from 3.05 to 5.17 GHz within 30 μs, which covers all five required frequency bands. The measured in-band phase noise are -89, -95.5 and -101 dBc/Hz for 3.8 GHz, 2 GHz and 948 MHz carriers, respectively, and accordingly the out-of-band phase noise are -121, -123 and -132 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset, which meet the phase-noise-mask requirements of the above-mentioned standards.展开更多

The on-time is obtained by the techniques of input feedforward and output feedback, and the adaptive control is achieved by a sample-hold and time-ahead circuit. The AOT current-mode control scheme not only obtains excellent transient response speed, but also achieves the independence of loop stability on output capacitor ESR. In addition, the AOT current-mode control does not have subharmonic oscillation phenomenon seen in fixed frequency peak current-mode control, so there is no need of the slope compensation circuit. The auto-skip pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode improves the conversion efficiency of light load effectively. The controller has been fabricated with UMC 0.6-μm BCD process successfully and the detailed experimental results are shown.展开更多
