We present new CCD photometry of the solar-type contact binary IU Cnc, which was observed from November 2017 to March 2018 with three small telescopes in China. BV light curves imply that IU Cnc is a W-type contact binary with total eclipses. The photometric solution indicates that the mass ratio and fill-out factor are q = 4.104 ± 0.004 and f = 30.2%± 0.3%, respectively. From all available light minimum times, the orbital period may increase at a rate of dP/dt =+6.93(4)× 10^-7 d yr^-1, which may result from mass transfer from the secondary component to the primary one. With mass transferring,IU Cnc may evolve from a contact configuration into a semi-detached configuration. 展开更多

It confirms the intrinsic 6 Scuti-like pulsation of the system reported by Kim et al.. With the obtained data, an orbital period study and an eclipsing light curve synthesis based on the Wilson-Devinney method were carded out. The photometric solution reveals a semi-detached configuration with the less-massive component filling its own Roche-lobe. By subtracting the eclipsing light changes from the data, we obtained the pure pulsating light curve of the mass-accreting primary component. A Fourier analysis reveals four pulsation modes with confidence larger than 99%. A mode identification based on the results of the photometric solution was made. It suggests that the star may be in radial pulsation with a fundamental period of about 0.0628 d. A brief discussion concerning the evolutionary status and the pulsation nature is finally given. 展开更多

We perform numerical simulations to study the secular orbital evolution and dynamical structure of the quintuplet planetary system 55 Cancri with the self-consistent orbital solutions by Fischer and coworkers. In the simulations, we show that this system can be stable for at least 108 yr. In addition, we extensively investigate the planetary configuration of four outer companions with one terrestrial planet in the wide region of 0.790AU 〈 a 〈 5.900AU to examine the existence of potential asteroid structure and Habitable Zones (HZs). We show that there are unstable regions for orbits about 4:1, 3:1 and 5:2 mean motion resonances (MMRs) of the outermost planet in the system, and several stable orbits can remain at 3:2 and 1:1 MMRs, which resembles the asteroid belt in the solar system. From a dynamical viewpoint, proper HZ candidates for the existence of more potential terrestrial planets reside in the wide area between 1.0 AU and 2.3 AU with relatively low eccentricities. 展开更多

We report on time-resolved spectroscopic observations of the SU Ursae Majoris dwarf nova, YZ Cnc for over llh on two nights during its 2002 January superoutburst. The spectra on the first day only showed absorption-line profiles, while on the second day the lines showed “W” profiles with blue and red troughs. The radial velocity curve of the absorption troughs and emission peaks of H/3 has an amplitude of 49±10 km s^-1 and a phase offset of -0.07±0.04, which are very similar to those measured in quiescence. However, the γ velocity deviates strongly from the systemic velocity measured in quiescence, by some ±60 km s^-1. Large shifts of -70 km s^-1 in the orbital-averaged velocity and -0.09 in the phase are also found in our observations. All these features can be well explained by a precessing, eccentric disk. 展开更多
