Big data challenge for monitoring quality in higher education institutions using business intelligence dashboards

As big data becomes an apparent challenge to handle when building a business intelligence(BI)system,there is a motivation to handle this challenging issue in higher education institutions(HEIs).Monitoring quality in HEIs encompasses handling huge amounts of data coming from different sources.This paper reviews big data and analyses the cases from the literature regarding quality assurance(QA)in HEIs.It also outlines a framework that can address the big data challenge in HEIs to handle QA monitoring using BI dashboards and a prototype dashboard is presented in this paper.The dashboard was developed using a utilisation tool to monitor QA in HEIs to provide visual representations of big data.The prototype dashboard enables stakeholders to monitor compliance with QA standards while addressing the big data challenge associated with the substantial volume of data managed by HEIs’QA systems.This paper also outlines how the developed system integrates big data from social media into the monitoring dashboard.

Cultivation of Business Students Under the Background of Ideological and Political Education:Optimization Strategies for Project-based Learning

The paper explores the strategy of optimizing the cultivation of new business-applied talents through project-based teaching innovation under the background of curriculum ideological and political education.The paper emphasizes that the core socialist values should be integrated into business education.Improving students’moral literacy and social responsibility is an important goal of cultivating new business talents.The study pointed out that in the process of project-based learning,innovative methods such as virtual reality technology,cross-cultural cooperation and diversified evaluation systems can effectively cultivate applied talents that meet the development needs of the new era.The paper also proposed specific strategies in the project implementation and reflection links to promote students’self-reflection and internalization of values.

Comparisons of Undergraduate Business Administration Education in Greater Bay Area, China

Business administration education plays an important part in supporting the development of business industry and ensuring the ongoing supply of qualified human resources to meet the demanding industry requirements.However,the dramatic growth of the economy has not been accompanied by an adequate response from the education system.It is therefore,necessary to review the existing business administration programs.This paper will make a comparison of the current undergraduate programs in Business Administration in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the six dimensions:curriculum and instruction;strategic planning;administrative management;faculty;student achievements;and resources.Suggestions for the further development of Business Administration programs in the bay area will then be proposed.

The "emerging business education" has five characteristics of new connotation, new technology, new majors, new curriculum, and new talents.. The current situation and the challenges of "emerging business education" in vocational colleges are that the new connotation is unclearly defined, the new technologies are untimely updated, the new majorss are unreasonablely set, the new courses are not tightly connected, and the new talents are unsoundly trained. The construction of "emerging business education" in the vocational colleges should build a "emerging business education" system of integrating industry with education, improving technical support, rationally setting up majors or specialties, optimizing the curriculum system, and improving the talent training system.

In recent years, industrial and service organizations have invested in improvement projects with emphasis on increasing the performance of processes regarding to the production of manufactured goods and services, applying techniques to optimize production time in order to minimize the restrictive effects of the funds invested in processing or obtaining processes in order to reduce the losses of general scope. This paper discusses the impact of the innovation in making use of business intelligence （BI） concepts about production records of a publishing area in a higher education institution （HEI） that promotes distance education （DE） in Brazil, helping the industry in their managements decisions, having a target minimize time on production of learning material through more effective control with the use of cubes in the form of reports for metric queries of delivery delays and metrics on the production tasks financial values, and filtering the processed information so that managers can view information from various angles and managerial perspectives. The objectives of this paper are to demonstrate the impact on using BI concepts in the process of an editorial department of a HEI focusing on the development of teaching materials for the courses of DE and identify the financial cost-benefit ratio for the HEI with the deploying BI in a software fee platform in its publishing department. Developing a Business Ethics Curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy （BSA） Students of De La Salle University （DLSU）-Manila

In a constantly changing environment, accountants must not only acquire technical accounting knowledge and skills, but also acquire integrity, objectivity and the skills that enable them to take a firm stand in difficult situations. The purpose of this study is to know how to effectively incorporate business ethics in the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy （BSA） curriculum at De La Salle University （DLSU）, Manila. Discussions in this paper focused on the responses of the students on what teaching strategies may prove to be effective when teaching business ethics subjects. Results of this study revealed that students ranked as the most effective the teaching strategy sub-group learning through ethical discussion and collaborative learning followed by the lecture method. Role playing and/or film viewing was ranked third. Inviting guest speaker for practitioner participation, case study method, personal value journals, and service learning were ranked fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. It is interesting to note that students ranked last/eighth the teaching strategy using the technology-enhanced learning or E-learning when teaching business ethics. This can give us an idea that even though the current generations of students are adept in using the computer and the Internet, they would still prefer actual classroom experiences in learning ethics courses.
